Lucas Raymond, Moritz Seider, Todd McLellan Post Game Comments vs NSH | Nov. 26, 2025

Lucas, Nashville scores a couple times in the first couple minutes. What did you think about the sense of urgency entering the third? Uh I mean, not good enough, you know, um coming uh coming into to the third in a good spot at home. Um you know, with all the opportunity to to go out and get a win and um didn’t get it done. What did you like about that third period, Lucas? I mean, just overall the game night. I mean, I think just uh mix I think our intensity wasn’t there. I think throughout most of the game um you know we weren’t strong over pucks and and uh you know that really showed in that third period. So um yeah not nearly good enough for them to score two goals twice in in less than a minute span there in the third period. Was it just a mental lapse there after they score the first one? I mean uh I don’t know. Um it’s it’s like I said, you come into the third at home. Uh and uh you’re in a good spot to win win a game. Um we we got to be better than that. We know it. Um and uh you know, I I think we we would love to have that one back. A little better defensively, too. You probably obviously like to be, I would imagine. Yeah, for sure. I mean, we we put Tobs in in bad spots. Um you know, he played another good game for us tonight and put us in a spot to to win the game. Um, so like I said, I think for for us, we we got to have a better sense of urgency. We got to have a better game management coming into a third. And um, we did not have that tonight. When you got a team like that where you know they’re struggling and they’re probably fragile emotionally, is kind of important to get on them early and not give them any life. Yeah, for sure. I mean, um, uh, obviously, you know, we we lost last game. We we wanted to come out big tonight, um, at home and and have a response to that. So, you know, I think uh for us it was it was the same thing. We wanted to come out and and play a hard tough game and make it hard on them. Um obviously when a team is is struggling a little bit, you want to kill that momentum that they might have in a in a start of a game. And um even even with that, I think we still come into a third period in a in a great spot to win a hockey game at home. And uh we just got to get it done. Thanks, Mo. Some defensive miscues there in the third. Kind of what did you make of the overall effort there? Um yeah, unfortunately just individual mistakes that lead to goals and um yeah, we just got to make sure we we don’t give up easy offense like that. It’s kind of the turning point in in those crucial games lately and um a a lot of good uh still a lot of good things happened in the ozone. I think we really created some really good chances um scored on a power play. Um even though we gave one up on the on the kill, I thought we we had a really strong impact on the game that way and um sometimes it comes really down to the details and we weren’t um detailed enough tonight. Lucas said that he felt there was a lack of intensity in the third period. Would you share that sentiment? Um yeah, I mean you kind of go through the whole night and I think uh every time there was a crucial battle, we kind of lost it. Um obviously that’s that’s sometimes how it goes but just can’t go uh that that can’t go into a second or third game. So um we have an identity. Um we got to bring that especially at home and um yeah we just have to be uh um way harder to defend um play with a little bit more swagger and then just really uh up our intensity. As bad as the third period was, was the goal coming in just to really establish yourselves in the first period against a team that had been struggling? Um, yeah. I mean, they obviously have really good players and they’re a good team. They just haven’t scored enough. Um, I think they uh they they do things really well and we just weren’t really prepared for that. Um, comes probably with um a little bit of lack of intensity. Um but other than that, I mean, you’re still in it in the third. Um just got to find ways to um get the puck out of your own net and score more goals. How do you clean up the all the defensive mistakes and whatnot? It seems that’s been an issue here lately. Um yeah, it just got to be harder. We we got to um make more plays with authority. We can’t be afraid to step up or or make a play in our own zone. Um, other than that, I think there there’s still a lot of good things happening. Um, I thought breakouts were pretty solid. Um, they they they don’t they didn’t gain much out of their face off plays. Um, it just comes down to making the next play. Um, sharing it out and then getting some offense and um, we just couldn’t really get it done. I think we’re always missing one one extra play to um get the oddman rush or um get offense out of it and um just got to turn the page here and then regroup and got a got another backto-back coming. How much do you think the the team is missing sorry defensive play? Um obviously every time you’re uh you’re missing a guy who eats up a lot of minutes um it will hurt you but we have we have enough good players to fill that hole um and that shouldn’t be an excuse. Perfect. Thanks, Todd. The two goals within just over the first two minutes in the third. What did you think of the sense of urgency going into that period? I didn’t like our game most of the night. Um, I thought we were quite casual early in the game. Our passing was was horrendous. Uh, there was nothing crisp about our game and somehow our power play kept us even that was ugly, but it kept us into the game. And then when the third period starts, um, we gave up four, um, in every different fashion you could think of. Four on four, faceoff coverage, off a rush, and off a Dzone breakout. So, there’s really no other element to the game where you can get beat. Penalty shot maybe. And um you know, you guys can probably all use your own notes from about a week or 10 days ago when I said until this team figures out that they have to value checking and defensive play, uh I’ll keep telling you the same things. And lo and behold, here I am again. So, back to the drawing board again tomorrow. Why would you say that there was a both Lucas and Raymond said that there was they felt a lack of urgency in the third period? Why? Why why do you think that is? Um, you know, if they’re telling you that, they they feel that then. Um, I have no idea why our group uh would feel or think that way. I couldn’t I can’t answer your question. I have no idea. And just how big of a hole is not having Simon in a game like this tonight? Well, Simon’s a real good player. Obviously, he’s going to make a difference, but is he going to We again, we we scored three in Jersey and we scored three here tonight. There are boatloads of teams that win games scoring three. It’s a three-goal league league over and over and over again. I don’t know what the scores are tonight. I haven’t looked at them, but I’m betting somebody won 3-1, 32, maybe 43. You don’t need nine to to to win, but the way we play some nights, we do. So, Simon Simon will make a difference. I’m sorry I didn’t answer your question, but Simon will make uh He does make a difference. He’s a good hockey player, but is he going to make uh We needed seven to win tonight. I don’t think Simon’s going to make that much of a difference. Sorry, Todd. When it when a team scores two goals in rapid fire fashion twice in a period, is it a matter of just not bearing down after they score the first one, maybe letting down a little bit or what do you see there? Well, I wish I again I wish I can tell you like we did we let our guard down. Yeah, we probably did. We made mistakes. They ended up in our net. And when I say that, it sounds like I’m blaming the goalie, but I’m not. Um they happen in succession. We responded at least and scored within three or four minutes after. Now it’s a a brand new game and then bang bang again. And you can’t really you can’t keep digging yourself. You bury yourself. You just keep putting sand on your head, putting sand on your head. And when you can’t breathe now, you want to dig your way out. Doesn’t work. And I know you say a lot that three goals, it’s a race to three goals and what you got tonight, but did you feel that you made it hard enough offensively on a goalie on a on a on a backup goal? No, I I thought they were uh um we talked about it between periods. I thought they were heavier like stick strong, uh loose puck stronger, board stronger, even net play stronger. their first goal power play um that they got. We uh you know as part of our pre-cout we talked about boxing out and uh they got there. So no uh I didn’t think we were intense enough or or hard enough all over the rank, not just offensively. Todd, these last several games, are they mental or physical mistakes, do you think? I mean, probably a combination of both. um you know the I guess it was the game winner the wraparound uh Stamp Coast’s wraparound to Riley back door like um we’re beat a little bit but we’re not beat to the net we’re beat to the back of the ring so now just stop net front the puck has to come to the backside we all run across we’re desperate we can’t relax and think and sure enough it went where should go to the backside you talked about how mental and physical I’m You talked about how it was kind of all manner of goals given up and and mistakes made. Like how does that how do you attack that when it is that variety as opposed to I was just saying we were talking in the back room a lot of times when you play um you get a a feel for where you need to take practice the next day or or your meeting or what you’re going to look for. Uh because there’s some patterns that appear. Um, you know, where where do we as a staff take this? It’s it’s all over the map. Um, leaving New Jersey, we were concerned about net play, the deflections, the tips, those types of things. We saw one of those tonight, but there’s other areas that we have to take care of. So, um, you know, we can’t we can’t get everything done in one day. Every time we get something and we grab on to it, we give something else back. It’s not a sign of a good team. Good teams hold their lessons and and they build off of them. And the flip side, Todd, JVR with another goal. I mean, that’s got to be a good sign. You’re talking about secondary scoring earlier this morning and he’s seems like he’s coming around here a little. Well, yeah, you somebody’s got to score some goals, but um you know, it again, I know you want to talk about scoring and in in JVR. Yeah, he he good hands around the net, did what he’s supposed to do in that area. Um I don’t know what their line was tonight. They probably got scored on a couple times. So, uh did we give it back? Maybe.

  1. "I have no idea why our group would feel or think that way" (referring to a lack of urgency in the 3rd)

Gee Todd I dunno maybe it's bc they feel their season is doomed anyway bc the coach is in love w a journeyman dman who personally forfeits half the games he plays in? Maybe?

  2. You guys need to relax and not get so high and low, it's a long season, yes it's frustrating and I want them to make the playoffs but if they don't it's not the end of the world. Just enjoy the games and watching the young guys, don't get so upset.

  3. Too much dead weight on this team……..including Patrick Kane. Sick of the lack of effort he puts in as he coasts around. Larkin was garbage tonight. ASP just isn't cutting it at NHL level. Hamonic is just another woeful Yzerman free agent signing. Kasper is invisible and useless this season. Teams rebuilding after the Wings are already turning a corner.

  4. Honestly, you guys fucking suck. I wouldn't be surprised if Todd just ups and quits.

The same problems plague this squad. I get it, fans aren't GMs, but we all see this coming.

Shit team, shit effort, shit goaltending, shit defense. Lack of effort, lack of heart, no grind, etc.

These post game comments are stupid too. Show some emotion. Honestly pathetic ass team.

  5. Bench Hamonic
Send Gustafson back to the AHL
    Bump Danielson to 2C
Bring up an AHL center for 3C
    Bring Edvinson back
    Bring Cossa or Postava up
    Give Talbot a break
Send Kasper to the AHL for further development to get his scoring touch back

  6. Fucking pathetic.

Nashville… Buffalo… Islanders… how many embarrassing losses does this team need until they finally wake the fuck up?

    Absolutely unacceptable 😂

  7. Todd even said when he took the job “the challenge will be immense”. He knew how bad the culture was in this group and that it would take a long time to turn it around

  8. Todd is going to walk out at some point, he has to be tired of telling them the same thing over and over and no one responds. There's a problem in this locker room. All of our best players get run at physically every night and no one besides Chiarot does anything about it. Soft team, no leadership, problems have started in the locker room for 2-3 seasons now. These guys just don't seem to want to play for each other and can't do anything when faced with adversity. Who even wants to get in the wildcard when this team would get absolutely trounced in a playoff series.

  9. Maybe we should bring cossa up and see if having a secind competent goalie so talbs can have a break would help and bench hamonic ive seen beer leauge defenseman who make him look like a highschool player he should be given assists for all the goals hes helping hit the back of our net

  10. I don't wanna be a downer or pessimist because I know this team has a lot of talent and good things to look forward to in our prospects but I wouldn't be surprised if this season turned out to be a tease and a disappointment of a "playoff push" because there's alot of fat that needs to be trimmed on this team and depth that is missing still.

  11. Yes Todd we hear you we need better checking.. please bring MBN back up. He was one of the only guys finishing checks when he was up here, and he was creating chances. With the lack of depth and drive this team has right now, we desperately need a guy like him.

  12. 10 goals on the last 42 shots on talbot. He needs to hang up his skates. This is the nhl , some saves have to be made. Even on mistakes you need your goalie to make saves. Everything goes in our net every night

  13. Another day of copp and compher being in the lineup Between those two guys.. 2 goals total the last 23 games and thats 11 mil dollars in salary between those two.

  14. I tell ya what, Todd reminds me of Torts. Play good hockey, hear nice things, play bad hockey hear mean things. I think if the front office could get some actual players in this lineup Todd could take them a long way for a long time.
