Brock Purdy Breaks Down Key Takeaways Ahead of Browns Game | 49ers

when you when you sit down to to go through Monday’s game, what were the first kinds of things that that you wanted to take a look at? Um, I mean, just take it one drive at a time and see how the game went, the momentum and, uh, you know, what I was thinking in the moment. Um, and so, and then just looking at my fundamentals, you know, how did I look with my my footwork and, um, where my eyes are at, all those kind of things. And um so and then obviously going over the mistakes and you know being critical of myself but also asking myself like all right like where do we go from here? How do I get better? How do I change it? So that’s really what I’m asking myself. After the game you said you wanted to look at the film to see why you weren’t driving your throws the way you normally would. Did you find what you were looking for? And if so what was it? Um I mean I think you know the the pick to Ricky was on the run. Like how can I throw the ball better on the run or set my feet quick and drive the ball. Um and I I left the ball up high and he got it. Uh the one to JJ, um that one is just strictly just just throw the ball. You know, I was laying it to a spot where he can go get it, but he had the guy beat and you know, I can’t take an extra hitch and throw the ball like that. I got to I got to put it on him. He won right away. Um and then the one to Ricky was I took a extra hitch. I should have hitched and thrown it right away and anticipated better. Um and that one was just a a matter of being late. So that’s what I saw in the film. feel like missing time has sort of affected your timing a little bit in these la last couple of games. Um I mean it’s just you know reps and playing football again and and getting back into it. So um but there’s also some some good plays that I’ve made too. So like I can’t just say because I threw three picks in one half my timing and everything’s off it. Like it’s it’s give or take with all that. So for me it’s um you know keep keep practicing, keep playing and um and and uh try to be real about it. Not you know try to have any more excuses. Will you um experiment with a glove at all this week just given what you might be facing in Cleveland on Sunday? No. Will not. Did you ever win in Iowa State? I never did. No. No. Do you have any concern in these conditions that you you kind of struggle at all to just really grip it and rip it in these conditions? Um I mean possibly. I think that’s any quarterback in the NFL if it’s you know some kind of rain or if the ball’s wet. I mean it does change um you know the mindset of taking care of the ball but um at the same time like you do have to drop back you got to throw it on time and if it’s not there in time like let’s be smart with the ball. So um I don’t know I think it just depends on you know how hard it’s raining and um we know really what the conditions are when we get there in the moment. But um you know I I don’t think I’ve played in rain before and um you know I’ve made it happen before. I’ve gotten the job done before in it. So, I’m not going to, you know, be afraid or or change anything in terms of my preparation going into the week. So, Brock Juice is the nominee for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, and it made George and Christian laugh just a little because they said he’s such a trash talker. Can you speak to that? Yeah. Um, now Juice Juice is the man. He’s got a great public uh, you know, like aura like we’ve talked about before. Um, but yeah, like just in around the boys, man, he loves to to talk trash to us and sort of humble everyone else around him. He’s a vet. He’s been in the league for a while, so um but good for him. I’m glad he’s got another award. How much more alert do you have to be this week for the guy that’s going to be in this line of vision with Miles Garrett coming at you? Yeah. Um obviously I think the best in the league at what he does and um you have to have a game plan ready for him and and more than anything understand can’t be holding on to the ball too long, you know. So um you know and that’s you know I think any quarterback could say that about him. We all have his respect. So, um it’s going to be a good challenge for all of us and I’m excited for our game plan to go in and compete. Um but across the board, their defense in general is really good. So, it’s obviously 95, but the rest of the guys that they got too, they’re really good squad. We’ve talked a bit in the past about like that chip on the shoulder and having something to prove. And I I just get this feeling this offensive line has that vibe right now that your offensive line has this vibe of like, hey, we’ve been downed. They look like they got something to prove. Do you sense that? Definitely. Um, you know, I think we’ve had some new faces and stuff that have come in and played and, uh, we have the vets that have been playing together, too, but it it’s it’s changed, you know, since the last couple years. And, um, I think just as a whole, it’s, you know, how can we get back to and for them our mindset of let’s let’s run the ball, man, and run it down. Um, you know, all the gaps, doesn’t matter if it’s a gap or outside, like they want to be they’re up for the challenge and they’re ready for it. And, um, you know, but that’s been their mindset all year. It’s just, you know, now I feel like we’ve we’ve come to a point in the season where everyone’s playing together. Everything’s clicking, but um those guys are dogs, man, and and they’re going to continue to get better even though we’re late in the year. So, um I love their mindset and everything that they do, the run game, pass game. So, we got the right guys in the room there. You mentioned the Browns personnel. From a schematic standpoint, what does Jim Schwarz kind of bring to the table? What are some of the staples that makes his defense and what do you remember about facing the 23? Yeah, I mean, just, you know, they’re sound in their coverages. um a tough defense. They rally um you know on film like you just see guys flying all over the place and so when you’re watching film and you see a defense like that it’s like okay like it’s going to be one of those games man it’s a blueco collared game and um you know they’ve uh they’ve played everybody really well um you know offensively I feel like they’ve shut down a lot of offenses and um you know it’s a credit to Jim Schwarz and how he you know coaches up his defense and so going back to 23 is the same thing. It was a gritty kind of game. It wasn’t the prettiest, but um you got to find a way somehow some way and um you know when there’s a big play, you got to take advantage of it. So um but a lot of a lot of props to him and how he’s done it throughout, you know, his career as a coach and stuff, but nothing but respect. Rock, you and you and Ricky have both had some time off. How are you where are you guys at in rebuilding the chemistry that you saw that we saw during training camp? Yeah, I mean I think we’re still just chipping away at it, you know, not trying to, you know, hang our heads down or anything like that about, you know, the last two games. And obviously, I want to I want to get Ricky the ball. He’s explosive. He’s dynamic. Um he’s a a great teammate, a brother of mine. Like, I want the best for him. So, um it’s just about the opportunity that we get in the game. Like, we got to capitalize on it. Um you know, I got to continue to trust and rep uh the routes and plays together at practice and then I know that that’ll carry over to the game. So, um, you know, I I’m have 100% faith that it’ll pick up. Thank you guys. Thanks, guys. [Music]

  1. It's OK Brock it's normal they've all done it, Brady, Maholmes, Josh Allen, Flacco, Roger's, Stafford, just keep doing what your doing keep trying to improve, success doesn't come without failure, my mono is Improve Improve Improve never give up keep at it till you master it. 👍🏈🤜🤛

  2. I hope Kyle can bench brock before he gives us zero chance to win this week before the bye. Mac atleast needs 2 quarters, so if brock has 2 fumbles and 2 picks in the first half, Bench Him!!

  3. Crazy how good Kurt Warner is – he analyzed his pics on his podcast and described the exact same observations as Brock does. Great reads, just late on timing on two picks and not an enough power on one of em. Brady had multiple four and three INT games early on in this career, it happens. Shake it off and ball out this week against the Browns, we got you bro!

  4. All the useless Cohn people or fake ass niner fans giving up on the qb after one game ! I can’t stand bandwagon idiots! I ride and die with my team and my qb! Allen and Jackson and mahomes have had plenty of multiple int games! We are with ya Bp!

  5. For the fans that are gonna read this i don’t understand why you keep protecting this guy hes getting paid 50 mill and hasn’t produced his last 3/4 games played he didn’t do good the az game to he didn’t do that good either and it was a terrible team with injuries last season he wasn’t good you guys are just holding onto the 2023 season he’s not that good but we’ll see only time will tell

  6. As a bit of a nature lover, I love how the no trade contract for Brock makes me hunker down and watch the storm of salty Cohn tears every week. It's downright majestic
