you need to score to win. Um what they did for us, you know, hopefully it gains momentum. Obviously, uh yeah, I I don’t know. Why do you think why do you think it didn’t play out that way that you could build off those two and maybe get ahead? I’m not saying we didn’t build off. I mean, obviously, you score and you want the next line or whatever you want to build that momentum within the game. And I thought we had our moments. you see like the last they’re 10 minutes of the second I feel like we carry the momentum. Um yeah, you know, I don’t know that’s hockey. It’s back and forth, right? Obviously a tough play that leads to that fourth goal and probably feel bad when a guy’s making his NHL debut and kind of has a puck hop over his stick the way it did with Elias there. Yeah, to be honest, I I I didn’t actually see it. I was uh on the bench and I must I was drinking water or something. I don’t remember what happened to him there falling. Mark gets you back within a goal and you guys have come back in games like that. So, did you kind of right down to the final buzzer? Still had the belief that you could pull this one out? You never stopped playing. Um I mean at the end the puck was between Wilson’s feet on on the goal line for for a second. Um no, I mean you keep going and it’s never over till the end obviously. So, right. Uh three straight losses, three wins in the last 10. What’s the mood of this group? Um I mean it’s not great. sucks to lose. Uh we know it, but uh nobody’s quitting here. Nobody’s doing anything. We’re just going to keep keep showing up, keep playing. Um think we’ve talked about it, and I’m not sure Farney’s talked about it to you guys, but I feel like we’ve made progressions in different areas of our game. Uh but at the end of the day, it is a results uh driven business and we need to start winning and it uh it sucks right now. Do you feel like there’s maybe a lot of guys just squeezing the sticks a little tight or fighting it right now? Just trying to find some extra offense out there. I don’t know. I mean, uh could say that sometimes when you know when you’re not scoring, you overthink. I’ I’ve been a victim of that countless times this year. So, uh hopefully, uh not, you know, we just got to keep keep going. We’re getting chances. Uh I guess I like a lot of stuff in our game and uh yeah, that’s what it is. Thank you. excitement at the beginning. What was that solo lap like? What what’s going through your head? Are you thinking just don’t step on a puck and trip or Yeah, that was actually the first thing I thought of. Uh don’t fall. But uh yeah, it was amazing. Of course, a lot of emotions. Uh you just do that once. So, uh that was a lot of fun. I know your girlfriend was able to make the trip, right? Did your parents manage to get here or No, no, but they uh watched back back home. So, uh but uh my girlfriend was here. Yeah, that’s awesome. Um how did you feel maybe your first few shifts went? Were there butterflies? You know, nerves, that sort of thing? Yeah, there’s a lot of nerves, of course, but uh I think you settled in at the game settle in at the game went on there, but uh yeah, it was a lot of fun to play. Yeah. looked like you actually came really close to maybe getting your first point late in the first period where you find Mark all alone in the slot there and then he just misses to to Kyle. Did you think that one was maybe going in? Yeah. Yeah, Mark find a good spot there in the middle of the ice. So, just try to get him to him and uh yeah, it’s close. How many messages do you think you’re going to have on your phone from, you know, friends, family members, things like that? Uh yeah, uh a few I think. Yeah, I think the boys are excited back home. third period there. Obviously a tough play with uh I think Cole sends you the pass back. Looks like maybe the did the puck jump or something. Maybe just take us through how you saw that. Yeah, it was uh unfortunate but uh I think the puck uh bounce a little bit or something, but uh yeah, take that. It is what it is. Uh just um try to let that behind you. Yeah. Yeah. Like is that something where your teammates sort of pick you up cuz you’re probably feeling not great about that. But did did anybody say anything to you? Yeah, of course the guys came and said that don’t worry and stuff like that. So they felt good and uh continuing game on the right way. Um I know you just sort of joined this team but things haven’t been going great as of late. Uh you know good effort tonight, but what do you think you guys need to maybe turn this around here? Yeah, I think we got play pretty good game today. uh try to get on the inside and uh create some more chaos in front of them and uh yeah. Awesome. Thank you. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. You are down. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. start with uh the start obviously falling behind two goals not ideal but you guys fight your way back get the two goals from Gabe and whole new hockey game at that point. Yeah, I mean we knew obviously that uh a lot of emotion in the building there kind of long ceremony and they scored uh you know their D got involved early and we knew that was going to be part of the part of the game plan and uh but I like the way that was a big goal at the end of the uh end of the first and then a big goal at the the start of the second to get us back in it. So um there’s a lot of good things that happened out there. You know we’re in a funk right now and we got to find ways we uh you know we’re doing a lot of good things. Um our mistakes if they happen they’re going in our net. Uh but you know, we battle right to the end. Um got to find a way to get some secondary scoring and um you know, we’re obviously Sha Line did it again tonight and we need other people to step up and you know it’s uh not being it’s not about being pretty now. It’s about uh I don’t care how it goes in off your head, off your leg, however it might be, rebounds, whatever deflections, we got to find a way both. You know, the guys that aren’t scoring, find a way to to to get some offense. Our D have to find a way to get pucks to that net front. I think we had three shots on that from the from RD and that’s something that we have to, you know, as a group have to get better at and you can’t go into games with one line running. Can you almost look at the way Washington generated some of its offense tonight? I mean, they they seem to be throwing a lot of pucks and obviously they got some some good bounces. The third goal, right, Alex Ovetkin might have hit Colin on the way in and went straight in. So, I I just I I don’t think Colins ever saw that one. the one right right by Stan kind of nobody saw it kind of coming but that’s Obie throwing them from from everywhere but at the end of the day you got to make your own breaks and you know what they uh you know they got some you know obviously chicken hell of a defenseman and Carlson and Sandine those guys are you know there was a lot of pucks coming I think they had 14 or 15 pucks that got to the net and that’s part of their strategy and honestly we we try to do the same thing but um you know obviously Wash got in the lanes or they uh got sticks on pucks but it’s just something that we have to as we talk about our defense defense improving how we defend, how we play on our end. We also have to do some things in the offensive zone and you know, we got to get a little bit hungry. We got to get a little bit meaner about going and finding ways to score goals. What do you say to Elias after a tough play like that? You know what I just went down and just told him suck it up and move on. It’s it’s just that’s the one thing about, you know, good players, um, any kind of players, young, old, move on to the next one. You can’t do anything about the pass play. And, um, you know, I thought that he showed a lot of maturity at times tonight. There were some real nice plays. Had some real nice breakouts. Uh some nice plays uh offensively. Um you know, that’s a tough building. This is a or this is a tough building. That’s a tough team. That’s a tough game to come into. Thought he held his own. You mentioned the the top line and obviously, you know, there’s a lot of focus on those guys from opponents. Uh so what does it say that they they they are finding ways to to get offense for you? Well, that’s just been a constant all year. We knew it from last year as well. I mean, they’re one of the top lines in the league and they’re hard to handle and you know what uh but I would like to some of the pressure to be taken off that we’re getting more run support so that um you know when they do score one or two or three that uh you know we win hockey games going away or um you know some other people score and it isn’t just having to you know if those guys have an off night where they don’t score we have other people that can step up. So, um, that’s just something that again part of these things that have kind of gone on since the start of the year that you’re trying to you put your, you know, you put your fill in some holes in the boat there and some other other ones are opening up. So, um, you know, I don’t want to say that all we have to think about now is scoring goals cuz, uh, you know, we know what’ll happen. So, just stay with it, you know, and we’ll continue to grind guys to, you know, do the right things to score goals. And just last one on that point, but you obviously you don’t want to create new problems by trying to solve existing ones. So the idea of like trying to spread the wealth, if you will, and move some that top line around and that might actually make things worse, not better potentially. I mean, something we thought about, but we got to challenge the other group. You got to challenge the other group here to other players to, you know, step up and do part of it. I’ve, like I’ve said in the past there, if you want to score goals, don’t get farther away from that. Get close on that. And this is a time now for us. And uh, you know, we got to go find some greasy goals and, you know, some old either rebounds, deflections, those type of goals. and they get one and hopefully that it, you know, kind of spreads throughout our team. All right. Thank you.
