Paul Maurice, Panthers Postgame: Flyers Score Twice in Final Minute, Win in Florida

Well, the first two periods an awful lot. I thought it was a really well played game and um uh we were slow in the third and on on plays that uh cost us some zone time and we had a hard time boxing out a bit in front of the net, but everything came from the top. Um so tough one tough to lose a game like that. What did you like most particularly about that first period? Uh first and second I thought we were really quick with the puck and our decisions. really confident with it and that started to fade as they had so much confidence they want to win bad and they want to make the right play. I thought we were slow with the puck. What were they doing the third to kind of tilt the ice in their direction? Well, I thought we were slow with the puck. I I think they got in on some pucks and that we were we were just late getting to some loose pucks that were laying around and they maintained that control. They got the D got moving up top and so we need to get in a few of those shot lanes especially in the first two. How’d you like you guys got to especially on those goals? Yeah, well I thought we were right on what we were trying to do with the puck. We were going to move as fast as we can, try to get the puck to the net, and then I think we I don’t know the reason why we looked a little slow in the third, but we weren’t at the net. The puck wasn’t getting to it. We knuckled a bunch that we couldn’t get to the net, but uh even with that, we didn’t give a whole heck of a lot up. I liked what we got. Um just frustrating ending, that’s all. There’s a lot of five on five tonight. Are you happy with how you guys played at even strength for the most part? Yeah, for the box outs, shot blocks up top. We we got to be better jumping on loose pucks in the system that we have. We were late on some pucks that I thought we could get to, but other than that, there there wasn’t a whole lot. And Carter Hagy now goes in backto-back games just seems like he’s starting to turn a corner. Are you seeing that from him? thought the three games prior to him scoring he was moving pretty darn good and it wasn’t going for him but he will he is he is now moving and and he’s getting the puck off his stick and he’s faster with it and he’s faster that line’s been very good for us took one off the knee late in the game any concern there for I don’t know yet we’ll we’ll see after any big plans for tomorrow I don’t it’d be pretty quiet at the hubs I would think thanks coach

The Panthers led 2-0 early in the second only the game was tied at 2 going into the third.

The Flyers scored twice in the final minute of the third to beat Florida for the second time in three meetings this season.

Brad Marchand and Carter Verhaeghe each scored for Florida.

The Panthers are back home on Friday at 4 against the Calgary Flames.
