So you’re the two-headed beast of Army-Steen. What would be your ask from Toronto for Schenn?

  1. Tavares is impressive, I think his contract is almost up, he also looks like he could have an upswing in the next few years and his experience could bring more leadership to the offensive young players

  2. Have limited expectations people. We would be lucky to get a 2nd and a so so prospect back. That’s on a good day. I don’t think we are at the fire stage just yet. But not far off either. Do we know even if TOR is part of his limited teams he would take a trade too? TOR could be sellers too then why do they want anything from us?

  3. We’d be trading him for futures, but Toronto’s cabinets are pretty bare. Cowan is not moving, I’d love Danford but I think the leafs are pretty high on him, Villeneuve is playing like a man possessed, Chadwick is ok.

I don’t think Schenn is worth this but one of those three defensemen plus an optimistic 2027 2nd (more likely a 2026 3rd) would make me pretty happy.

All of this is probably a moot point unless Toronto turns it around.

  4. Major, major blunder not dealing him at the last deadline when he was a (somehow) hot commodity. Same goes for binnie.

Or did scheen use his ntc? I want to say that I remember him saying he wanted to stay here, but not positive about that. But now we’re stuck with him, and more importantly, his contract.

If he nixed a trade, should army have played hardball with him? Like, threatened to send him to the minors, or buyout his contract? Could/would doing that possibly turn the locker room against the organization? Or give the blues a bad reputation around the league? Or would army not do that out of loyalty to scheen?

  5. Schenn has more trade value than many Blues fans think he does. He is a savvy veteran and a great leader. He is a piece that any team wants in their quest for a cup because he plays hard nosed style of hockey. He may not be flashy and he isn’t fast but he knows how to get the job done and he will only improve the locker room with his presence.

If it’s a trade with Toronto it starts with a 2nd that becomes a first if they make the playoffs plus a solid prospect. Same package it would have been last year. Army/Steen could probably get the pick plus Cowan by agreeing to eat 50% of his contract as well.

  6. This would not be the trade that turns this team around. Won’t get much in terms of a draft pick(s). We need defensive help now. I like Tucker and Kessel is meh but we could definitely improve there. With Schenn gone, we’d have to let Joseph play more which is fine but not a long term solution. Joseph has been solid this year and could surprise us though. Other than that, do the Leafs have a younger two way forward with offensive upside that would work? Again, a Schenn trade is just to beat his contract expiration and getting a return. It isn’t about improving the team now. Offloading the salary would help as well I guess. Resign Broberg with that money and the Texier money

  7. If there’s one thing the Blues front office loves, its defensemen past their prime who have a slim chance at a second life.

STL-TOR have announced a one for one trade. Brayden Schenn for Morgan Reilly

  8. Schenn is a wait til deadline guy. Today move binner and Kyrou and maybe parayko. Save the rest for deadline

  9. Schenn’s value is mediocre at best. If we could sneak a 2nd rounder I’d be thrilled. Most likely it’s a bag of pucks and a 3rd.

  10. At this point it’s way more likely to be New Jersey or Vegas. Something like Schenn and a Blues 2027 4th round pick for a Vegas/NJ 2026 1st round pick and a 2028 3rd round pick.

  11. A prospect and a 3rd round pick with retained salary would be expected… Toronto won’t get rid of their 2nd round picks… they don’t have 1st round picks the next few years.

  12. Schenn + STL 26 fourth for TOR 26 1st. Eat as much salary as needed.

Schenn has value and someone will overpay.

  13. Just a reminder Marchand got a conditional second rounder with retained salary last year. You know, a veteran leader with a hard nosed style.

Also last year, army said the blues couldnt get any decent offers because our guys were playing like ass and no one wanted them.

I’ll take soda for the vending machines for him.

  14. > At this time, without knowing exactly the asking price, it is hard to determine the asking price for Schenn.
