  1. People seem to forget he become a god in the playoffs. Also it’s not like he hasn’t shown that he’s able to play make and get his team involved. Like they said he’s not a finished product and he’s got room to grow, and the best part about that is that I’m sure Paolo is willing to do it.

  2. Good points in this vid. I will say that in past years Paolo has generated many, many open looks that were not converted into points due to our abysmal 3p%, and I don’t really see anyone talking about that. I think his assist numbers will take a leap this season.

  3. To his point, I think the Magic are better with Paolo, by quite a bit. Does he make the Magic 40+ million a season better? That I don’t know. Personally, I simply don’t enjoy watching the type of Basketball Paolo plays most of the time. Isos and foul hunting are not my favorite thing, although I understand they have a place. He does have stretches where he is moving the ball more, and those have been some of the best stretches of Basketball the Magic have played this season. I hope that part of his game grows.

  4. The only people talking or even thinking about trading Paolo are a few impatient, over-reactive fans.

  5. That is what I generally agree, Paolo needs to find ways to make the team better and his height definitely will determine how far we will go in playoff

  6. It’s true. And my worry now is that when P comes back, he’s going to feel a need to prove himself to everyone that’s been saying “better without him”, and it’s going to take a while for him to settled back in. Hope I’m wrong.

  7. Exactly right. Paolo in the playoffs is a different animal. Also when Paolo came back from his injury last season, we saw his assists sky rocket. I’m not worried about anything.

  8. Paolo needs to play in the post full time to make his time in orlando more successful. Dude has zero outside game and handles.

  9. Love this. He is 100% right. It’s up to Paolo to really look at what this team is doing when he’s out, what strengths they all have, and make whatever adjustments he needs to make to his game to make the rest of his team even better when he’s on the floor. If he needs to take over, he can, but making your TEAM better is what superstars do.

  10. His points are accurate but the implication that it’s Orlando fans generally saying this bothers me a bit. Sure, there are a few. But by and large the “they should trade Paolo, they’re better without him” crowd is a bunch of non-Magic fan box score watchers who don’t even see our games.

  11. Paolo has already made all the adjustments we’re asking of him.

    * Rebound percentage is way up. He’s hustling.

    * He’s a plus defender now. His +/- is good and all the best two-way line-ups we had included hin.

    * Career low in midrange shots, highest percentage at the rim in his career.

    * Drawing fouls at the same rate as Giannis and SGA.

He’s just shooting like dog shit (25% from 3 and and 70% from the line) and frustrated he can’t generate like he wants.

Just be patient and let our 6’10” unstoppable driving forward figure it out!

  12. Exactly. We need a guy that can just go get a bucket and/or draw a foul when things aren’t going well. I’m really hoping he’s back in Detroit tomorrow for that reason. Maybe he plays on a minutes restriction and that’s fine. But that team is going to try to push the pace and play physical too.

Their goal will be to be more fast and physical until they gain momentum at home and tire us out, both physically and mentally. Hopefully we have the edge and can out play them, play fast, and be physical without fouling. But if things are going more their way, it would be nice to have Paolo available and be able to slow things down if they pull away.

Let him get in the paint, draw a double team, and kick it out or draw a foul. Then it slows down their momentum and with a few defensive stops that could generate offense potentially on the fast break, it could turn in our favor

  13. Tbf, very few people have said Paolo needs to be traded. He’s their best and most important player. The Magic DO need him to play better and smarter within their system. You can’t say both things aren’t true when they are.

  14. Need to ask that why we don’t have similar complaints to Franz. Franz and Suggs plus Band all play team basketball, and may occasionally go over the board. Paolo needs to watch and see how he could play similar style while keeping ISO as a weapon instead of relying on it every play.

  15. It’s sad we’re even having these discussions. Any smart basketball fan knows this team goes as far as Paolo takes them. Too many people are caught up in the moment.
