What’s up, guys? It’s AQ Shipley back for another round of film room. This week, we are going to look ahead to the matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. The key to beating the San Francisco 49ers is stopping the run. Period. Every single thing they do starts with the run game and they build their pass game and their play action pass off of the run. Stop the run, beat the 49ers. Everything is about deception. Everything is about eye candy, shifts, motions, getting your eyes looking away from where it’s actually being run. And so when you look at the San Francisco run game right here, if you look at number five, he’s going to go in motion across this way. Number 15, Jawan Jennings, is going to come back this way. So you get a guy going this way, a guy going this way. They’re going to toss the ball left, and it’s a designed cut back to bend back behind 15 wide receiver Jawan Jennings as the fullback. Snap the ball, toss it to the left, come back, bend behind, get multiple guys going opposite directions, fill up underneath. Now, let’s take a look at the next play. Again, another key to beating the 49ers is knowing who number 44 is, Kyle Yuschek, and where he is aligned. It doesn’t always matter where he starts, it matters where he finishes. You look at this clip right here. He’s lined up to the right. Split back formation. Brian Robinson Jr. to the left. He is lined up to the right. It is a condensed formation. They make everything look the same. You will see over and over and over again. Receivers lined up two yards outside of the tackles. Number 15 to the left, 84 to the right. Kyle is going to go in short motion behind the quarterback and will serve as the lead blocker on this play. Watch this. This is what they are so good at. Motion the tight end over. Short motion behind. Pitch it to Robinson. And now you get plus one blocker in space multiple times throughout the game. Big plays in the run game. Stop that. Beat the 49ers.
