“The Chiefs are Officially in Trouble” – Rich Eisen on KC’s Thanksgiving Day Loss to Surging Cowboys
Okay, the headline of this video is the Kansas City Chiefs are officially in trouble, which is something I can’t believe that I am saying with a team that does have Momes playing like he does with four touchdowns and Kelsey playing like he does with a touchdown and Rice playing like he does with two touchdowns and Hollywood Brown with a touchdown and pretty much everybody from their championship seasons. But the Kansas City Chiefs are in trouble with six losses now. Six and six. We were going into last week saying that Mahomes has never been 500 this late in the season. We’re now going into next week, week 14 of the NFL season with the Kansas City Chiefs at six and six with pretty much everybody still there. Bolton and McDuffy and Jones and Spagnolo is the DC and Naggie is the OC with with Andy Reid. I I honestly don’t know what it is, but everything that the Kansas City Chiefs have been doing this year. Um, looks the same with the exception of about 10 plays. Now, obviously that’s the difference between winning and losing in the National Football League, but mistakes like pass interference penalties and not scoring before either side of the halftime period, like on Thanksgiving Day when the Chiefs got the ball first and start the second half, don’t score. got the ball right after Dak Prescott scores at the end of the first half with the the uh Dallas Cowboys getting a touchdown from a a guy fresh off the practice squad from a couple weeks ago. Uh the Chiefs usually don’t give up big huge 40-yard touchdown dashes like we saw later earlier today. And my goodness, are the Chiefs in trouble because six and six in this AFC right now. Six and five was the 10 seed. I have no idea what six and six is going to look like by the end of the week. And they have lost to the Bills and they have lost to the Jaguars and they have lost to the Chargers who going into week 13 Sunday um are all your wild card teams. have lost to the Broncos who are doing cartwheels right now getting ready to head to Washington DC where the Commanders have lost a gajillion games in a row and the the Broncos are nine and two coming off of a buy and they are going into week 14 games in front of the Kansas City Chiefs in the loss column. So at this point in time it sure does look like we’re going to have a new AFC West champion for the first time in a decade. nine straight seasons in a row is 100% in the in the line of fire uh in jeopardy if not completely already done right now. Five games to go and the Texans are in Indianapolis this week and they’re the ones who have to go to Arrowhead next week. Now, the good news for the Chiefs is there are some winnable games. They play Vegas, they play Tennessee, they play um at home for three of their final five. They’re better at home than they are on the road. Although again, they played good football for the most part, winning football for the most part in Dallas, but they made too many mistakes, and they’re the ones who came up with the first turnover of the game. And still, that wasn’t enough for the Chiefs to take an early lead and get a turnover. the defending AFC champs three times over the Kansas City Chiefs dominant dynastic window of Super Bowl appearances and chances. They’re six and six heading into week 14. Again, I’ll repeat this line that I was saying with the stats for the last few days on the Rich Eisen show. The earliest the Kansas City Chiefs season has ended in the Patrick Mahomes era is overtime in the AFC Championship game which happened in Mahomes’s first foray into the playoffs to Tom Brady and then he made the Super Bowl and won it. Then he made the Super Bowl and lost it. Then he went to the AFC Championship game and lost that in overtime to Joe Burrow and has made the Super Bowl every single year since then, either winning or losing. And this year it is all in jeopardy. They are running out of time and certainly out of room for error. Now, the reason why I start with the Chiefs, you normally when the Cowboys win or lose, you start with them. But the Kansas City Chiefs are a dynasty that is either in the final throws or is in a spot that we are not used to seeing them in from which they will still continue to somehow advance. All they got to do is get a ticket into the dance. But right now, they are going to have to win, if not win out, and get a ton of help. As for the Dallas Cowboys, they’ve won their last three in a row, and they do not look like the team that started 35 and one at all. And part of that has to do with obviously the ascension of George Pickkins, who is turning into one of the most dominant physical receivers this league has seen in quite some time. He is unbelievable. the play that he made where he almost scored by spinning out of a uh what looked to be just a short gain or a first down gain of about 10 yards. Spins out of it, goes to the sideline, takes off. What a move that was athletically and then to have the speed to take off and have a breakaway speed from everyone else and almost leaprog over a defender to make it one of the greatest highlights in the history of Thanksgiving football. And I know what I’m saying. If George Pickkins had scored instead of being tackled on that leap frog over the final defender standing between him and the end zone, that would have been one of the most amazing touchdowns in the history of Thanksgiving football. Instead, it was something that set the the uh Dallas Cowboys up for what turned out to be a field goal to take a two-scored lead from which the Chiefs almost came back to get a chance to tie the game if not win it at the end. if it wasn’t for George Pickkins on the final drive twice. Once getting a clear pass interference penalty because he made an incredible move inside a defender who is terrific defending on the inside shoulder in Watson and then a first down grab to end the game and bring on the victory formation. CD Lamb doing what he’s doing. Javvante Williams doing what he’s doing. everybody who runs the football doing what they are doing and uh defensively Demarian Overshon coming back he is all over the field and him being on the second level has 100% helped everyone behind him and everyone in front of him that now includes Quinnon Williams I’ll be honest with you sitting here watching this game and I know I’m making this a little bit about myself here but uh listen I am taking a a couple more minutes out of um my thanksgiving to chat with y’all and give you my two cents because I I can’t help myself. It hurts to see Quinn and Williamson another team. The Jets, I don’t know what they’re doing, man. They better use these draft picks wisely and we’re going to see what they’re going to do in order to um rebuild their team using Dallas Cowboys draft choices. But Quinnon Williams is remaking this defensive line alongside Kenny Clark. You got to give it up to the Jones family for making these moves. Um, but Quinnon Williams is reconstituting this defense up front. De Marvin Overshon is reconstituting this defense behind that. And they’re only going to get healthier, one would think, uh, on the back end of the defense. At 65-1, what a huge game next week at Detroit is going to be one week from this very moment because the Lions are 7-5. The Cowboys are now 65-1. They are rooting hard for the Chicago Bears tomorrow. Lions are rooting for the Eagles. Dallas is rooting for the Chicago Bears because if the Bears win this game and make the Eagles 8 and4 and the Dallas Cowboys are 65 and one there, the division is not yet over. That’s still a long shot, but Dallas right now 65 and one behind the Lions at seven and five. We’ll see what happens with the 49ers moving forward. Obviously, you know, a result like the Eagles beating the Bears in the long run might be better for Dallas because a wild card appears to be the better shot for them to make the playoffs and the Chicago Bears being closer to them is not a bad thing. But it’s all good in the Dallas Hood right now. And obviously they’re playing for Marshon Neand as well which is a palpable palpable feeling you get watching this team. They are playing inspired and you must give it up to Brian Shottenheimer. At one point Tony Roman was talking about how deep in his offensive play calling bag this this head coach of the Dallas Cowboys is. He is doing a phenomenal job and the Cowboys are reborn. The old school Bill Parcels’s axiom that the season begins at Thanksgiving. Dallas’s season has begun at now 65 and one above 500 for the first time all season and they do not look like the team that was struggling out of the gate and struggling to find their footing or lost to Arizona on Monday Night Football. That team appears to be gone and buried. Dallas is a problem. I put them 10th in my power rankings and this is the reason why. George Pickkins is truly a phenomenal physical difference maker. Cidi Lamb already is that Ferguson at the tight end spot, he almost had that touchdown that uh got called back because two feet down isn’t the same foot down twice. Uh otherwise, that would have been a nice touchdown. Listen, my kids are going crazy in the other room. I’ve got dinner. I just wanted to come in here and say Chief’s in trouble. Cowboys are reborn. Holy crap, what a Thanksgiving we’ve seen. Enjoy the rest of your Thursday. Now I I’m getting ready to settle into Bengals and Ravens. I don’t know about you.
Rich Eisen breaks down the Dallas Cowboys improving to 6-5-1 on the year with a Thanksgiving Day win over the Chiefs and casting some serious doubt Kansas City’s chances to make the playoffs this season.

The Patriots went a decade without winning a SB after winning 3. It's not a big deal when KC goes 2yrs. Nobody would be surprised if they win another next year.
They were in trouble last week till those refs once again intervened like 6 times for first downs….
The nfl will find a way to get them in.
The Referee picked up a couple flags they threw that they gave the Chiefs over the years is the only difference…imo
The other 31 NFL team are really damn tired of the Chiefs. This is a good thing.
Everyone hates the Chiefs.
Go Patriots!
The refs have stopped favoring the Chiefs.
The only bowl that the chiefs will hug this year is the toilet bowl!!!!!!!! LOL
Thinking of you Rich, during this difficult time.
Devin Lloyd took their soul with that 98 yard pick six on MNF.
"At number 9 in my Power Rankings…"
Nothing about calls. Lol. Tony Romo is the only one with the balls in the media.
Been in trouble since week 1
Regression to the mean is really something. This is basically what everyone needs to understand in order to understand why the Chiefs are where they are right now:
1. The 2024 Chiefs were a slightly above average team that just kept on winning the coin flip. The "coin flip" I am referring to is one score games.
2. Going 12-0 in that scenario is ridiculously unsustainable, which is what they went last year on their way to a 15-2 regular season record. This year, they are 1-6 in those same one score games.
3. You would expect teams to go about .500 in these types of games over the long run. So if the 2024 Chiefs had gone 6-6 in these one score games, they would have had a regular season record of 9-8.
4. Their point differential from the 2024 season of +59 also supports a team that is slightly above average in record, not some 15-2 juggernaut.
5. Out of 14 playoff teams, they had the THIRD WORST point differential, better only than the 10-7 Texans and Rams.
6. They ran into an actual juggernaut, the 14-3 Eagles, who absolutely annihilated them. It was 40-6 with under 3 minutes to go, and they scored 16 points in garbage time to make it slightly more respectable because the Eagles were already celebrating the inevitable.
Unfortunately, I think they have been a slightly above average team for a while now, but their issues were masked by a magically unsustainable run of luck in close games. The Super Bowl embarrassment they suffered should have sent them into an actual panic, because that was more indicative of who they actually were at the time. This current version of the team should be knocking them back to reality. The reality being that they have a slightly above average team that has fallen surprisingly behind much of the league.
Only an idiot would have thought they weren’t in trouble before today!
Ravens,Chiefs and Lions are all overrated teams.
Let's not forget that WR1 made some bad life choices and was out the first 6 games. WR2 was out 2 games due to injury. LT Simmons was suddenly out 4 games because of something that hasn't been made public. Roll credits and hope that they'll make the playoffs next season.
"The loss that turned the tide" – nick
That's what a bunch of soft swiftties will do for ya. LOL
KC needs a break, they've played a lot of football. A reset after some real rest and recalibration, they will be okay.
It all works in cycles. Their time on top was just a little longer than normal. Now you have Denver and the Chargers coming after them and are built to beat them, as they have lost to both of them this year
Playoffs will be so much nicer without seeing Taylor’s face during the game .
In my opinion it looks like the whole nfl has caught up with the chiefs bills and ravens while they were trying to improve to beat each other 🤦🏽♂️
For the second time this year I cannot wait to see Nick Wright.
Has anyone done a wellness check on Nick Wright yet?
I think Washington and KC got exposed during the NFC Championship and SB. Both are struggling after losing to Eagles.
The difference is, the refs are actually calling deserved penalties against the chiefs
The referees have got off the KC band wagon.
Time to rebuild and get new coordinators
trouble? They aint making the playoffs .
