Jaguars Hot Takes Heading into Week 13 vs. Titans | Jags A.M. | Jacksonville Jaguars

[Music] Welcome into Dagan this morning. Katanotti Stevens here with you. Brian Sex and John Oer as well. And it’s victory week. It’s victory Tuesday. So we’re stretching it out through the week this week after a improbable, very bizarre, kind of weird win over the Cardinals on Sunday in Arizona. Let’s get into our big things today. Brought to you by GEA, Government Employees Health Association benefits for federal employees and retirees. Big thing number one is sorry not sorry. Liam Cohen after the game said he’s not going to apologize for how his team wins. We’re not going to apologize for winning around here. You know, I mean that’s just uh not anything we’re going to do being 3 and 0 on the West Coast. Um you know it was one of those games that you felt like all right we had explosive runs then we had two yard runs you know and then we had big passes and then we had picks. It was just one of those games that you felt like when every time you kind of get momentum going opposite maybe the first drive, you know, whether it was getting off schedule, they were doing some things in the uh third downs that was giving us some problems early on from a protection scheme standpoint um that we needed to clean up. We did clean that up. Um so yeah, I mean you always feel multiple emotions after a game, but uh winning is what matters. Brian, my new favorite line. not going to apologize for winning around here. Um, it was ugly. It probably gave a lot of people a spike in blood pressure, but they got it done at the end of the day. Listen, I got to believe that most people who are watching us, who are reading the website, who are following the Jaguars do not care as long as the team wins. Now, they don’t want the quarterback to have a bad day and throw three interceptions. But listen, you went from a game that was over in the third quarter against the Chargers to one that went to overtime. It was thrilling. It was my heart was beating out of my chest at the end of the game. I I enjoyed it immensely. Does that mean that I want every game to be like that? No. But John, it’s a one-sore league and that’s what the NFL is built. And so you better just get used to it. But I do love the idea that Liam Cohen told his team, “Forget even worrying about the style points thing, man. Move on. I’m going to wait until the camera apologize. What are you talking about?” I mean, it’s it’s this team was four and 13 last year. Nobody expected seven and four. I I didn’t expect 74. I thought this was an 8 n win team struggle to get there. Uh are the Eagles apologizing for losing a 21-point lead. I mean, and I’m not, you know, down on the Eagles. Uh the Bills are six and five. I thought they were going to the Super Bowl. There’s a couple teams that blow people out in this league right now. The Rams and the Seahawks. Beyond that, show me the list. I mean, uh the Jaguars are seven and four. You win. They’re figuring out a way to win close games. This is a good team and these games happen. The Broncos are on the top of my power poll. They beat the Raiders 107 on a Thursday night two weeks ago. One of the ugliest games you’ll ever see. I’m not apologizing to anybody around here. I never do, but especially now. No apologies. None of them. All right. Big thing number two is growing pains. We talked a little bit about this. You know, it is a transition year in the end of the day and they’re trying to figure things out with new coaching and with new players. But Trevor Lawrence had a tough day. three turnover uh three interceptions, four turnovers in the game, but he talked about not playing scared. I got to be smart with the ball. Obviously, we had four turnovers and they were all on me. So, I own that and I got to I got to do my job and take care of the ball and not put our defense in tough spots. Totally get that. And um but I’m never going to never going to play scared. I’m going to continue to let it rip. And I think that’s why, you know, we we have a chance at the end of the day is because you keep playing. Um so, never going to apologize for that. But I will say cannot turn the ball over four times. So, I own that and know I got to clean that up. But I’ll watch it and see what it was. Look, star guy. No, John, go ahead because there’s a lot. There’s a lot here. When you let it rip, especially when you’re first starting to let it rip, sometimes you’re going to have a couple of picks, but look, one of them was tipped. The Clay Campbell pass was tipped. Uh the interception in the end zone, uh the fumble, I get it, but you’re also waiting for a guy to clear. I don’t know that this was a tragic game for Trevor Lawrence as statistics because it added up to the rest of the season. But I’ll credit Liam Cohen for this. Brian after the game and I guess it was on Monday said I never lost confidence in it. He told him a couple weeks ago to let it rip. Uh if if he had come to the sidelines say, “Man, what do you do?” And I’m sure Trevor said, “Hey, you told me to let it rip.” So they’re on the same page is my point. And I look, Trevor Lawrence had three touchdown drives and played really well in crunch time. Maybe that’s what he is. Uh, call it the Trevor Lawrence experience. Uh, and and listen, I for one came out of the game encouraged by the way that he responded after the third interception in the third quarter in the second half, right? And he comes down and he’s four of four for 59 yards. He ripped a couple of beautiful passes and threw that touchdown pass. I if you haven’t seen the end zone angle of that, you need to go watch him. He put the ball where only Parker Washington can go get it. And he did. Um and I loved his answer there, Kai. I mean that listen, I’d like to see him really attack the camera like, you know, with that answer, you know, to give you that really powerful personality. It’s not him, but the the words that he spoke were very important there at the end. And it’s something that I have been looking for from him. I was encouraged. Forget the numbers. The numbers are what the numbers are. I’m going to go into this a little bit more in hot takes, so I’ll shut up and let you go on. But I the people who look at this league and they just look at scores and and they just read a headline or read the first sentence. Trevor Lawrence threw three interceptions and lost a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. Don’t see the whole picture. It was better than people gave it credit for. And sometimes this is what happens when you let it rip. We’ll do our final big thing, which is weakness to strength. We talked a lot after that loss to the Texans how the defense kind of let that one go. And that was a that was really a weakness for them that day. The defense was the strength yesterday uh Sunday, excuse me, and they have been the past two weeks. And what they’ve seen from the pass rush has been great. Those guys, we had to use a lot of them in terms of, you know, knowing that they were going to chuck it a good amount of times in this game. Um we used a lot of guys in different positions. We had a few substitution errors because of that. Danny kind of got nicked and um we were trying to uh put some different guys in some different spots to give us some more rush, but you know, they ran it for what 55 yards again and uh we knew they were going to want to come out and chuck it and we had to impact them and influence the rush, which we did in a lot of ways. Brian, the defense uh against the Cardinals, six sacks, 11 tackles for loss, 15 quarterback hits, and don’t look now, the best run stop team in the league right now. Defense, let’s go. Listen, coaching and culture in that answer right there. The coach got after his defensive line. The week of that Texans loss, he was very animated, I’m told, and they all took it to heart and they heard the noise on the outside. Maybe this group isn’t as good. Josh Hines Allen has the record, but maybe he’s not that guy. Trayvon, who didn’t play last week in that big day, so think about how big it could have been. And Eric Armstead, right? Remember in training camp when it was, “Where’s Eric Armstead? He’s just a vet. He doesn’t want to practice.” People didn’t understand the behind the scenes that Eric was pushing himself to get ready to play, the extraordinary measures that he went to to get ready to play. And here he is impacting the game in November. Uh they heard the noise, they responded to it. out. Same thing with the quarterback. You need him to play consistently. You need this group to show up every week and play like that. The Rams front does. The Seahawks front does. The Texans and the Broncos front does. If the Jaguars group does, hey, this is going to be a lot of fun the last six weeks. Yeah. I thought the other day Josh Hines Allen had like nine pressures. But um and you know, in the Ozone mailbag that I do, everybody’s always asking, why didn’t Josh have more sacks? And for Josh, those pressures the other day came as part of a huge team rush. Uh he had one early that led to a Devon Hamilton sack. Uh he knows if he’s getting pressure, it helps everybody. It helps the rush as a whole. I thought they rushed as a team the other day very very well, which I I’m not sure they did do against the Texans when things broke down. So I think they’re back to that. And uh yeah, it’s it’s an it’s a significant turnaround because they took advantage of another team’s weakness and made it their own strength that day. And uh boy, what a neat thing it is to watch this team sort of find guys. And uh I’m referring to BJ Green and Danny Strigo and uh they’re finding themselves in this year of transition and they’re finding some pieces to build on going forward. Teamwork makes the dream work. Stay with us here on Dexam. We’re going to go over all the highlights for you from Sunday. [Music] Frank Brandy here. [Music] You know, I think just the belief we have in in in our team, in the locker room, and like I said, I think we’ve grown from some of the tough losses, too, over the season. You know, we’ve had some tough losses, too. You know, you know, like you said, we’ve won a lot of the close ones, but we’ve also had some close losses. So, I think you learn from it, and you learn that, uh, in the NFL, every week it’s it’s a week toe league. You got week to week league and you got to play well and then uh what the all these games are going to be close. You just got to find a way to finish. So it doesn’t matter what happened the first three quarters of the game. You just got to find a way to to win it in the fourth. And uh I think we’re learning that and we’re doing a good job of that and we just got to keep doing it. Look, it was entertaining and they won. I think I looked over at John at a certain point and when we went to overtime I was like this is just stupid. So silly and they won so I can laugh about it now. Uh the point is this time last year we would have begged for games like this and I’m very thankful for that. It’s interesting that people are banging on the Jaguars about this. But you know the Colts lost in overtime. They blew an 11point fourth quarter lead and I I I look at the power rankings just for entertainment value. Um but most people have them still among the top six or seven teams in the league instead of dropping and plummeting and oh my gosh, we’re worried about the Colts and are they who we think we are? Well, I mean, they blew it and Kansas City is not Kansas City and yet, you know, nobody is pointing to them and going, “Well, they’re not as good as we think they can. They are, right? This is what the NFL is.” I mean, it’s it, like I said in my little, you know, rant at the top of the show. The Rams are really good. They’re excellent. The Seahawks are really good. The and I think the Broncos are pretty good. Everybody else after that, I mean, I think there’s four or five teams. I think you can throw the Eagles in that group. Yeah, the Eagles lost 21 point lead the other Well, listen, they’re imperfect, too. No, and my point is I think the Eagles might win the Super Bowl. That’s a great franchise knows how to do it. Um, occasionally you lose leads and it happens. How about the Bills? At one point we had the Bills is the best team because the quarterback was playing his best and that defense was unbeatable and they still might win the Super Bowl, but they’re six and five or seven and four. You know, what I love about professional football as opposed to college football. you’ve you know it’s it’s a very you don’t have 55 to7. It’s not the SEC. He is good. All right, let’s look back at some of these highlights from Sunday. So, I’ll start out early. Finally get Brenton Strange back on the field and he had an impact, you know, right out of the gate to see him get this huge play off the top. Um he was impactful throughout the game, but it was just nice to see him back on the field. And then we also saw Travis ETN get involved early, which for me, I always feel like this team has the best chance of winning when they get the run game going early and then they can kind of play from ahead. Travis ETN continuing to have a tremendous season. Caps off this run with a touchdown and John felt early like they had things going a little bit. Well, they absolutely had things going and then when you give up points when you’re on offense, that’s always it’s rare to have that happen and have a blowout, right? So, I thought early and and really the whole game I’m gonna say except for Trevor’s interceptions because that’s sort of part of the game, but they move the ball really well. And uh I think if you ask them, they should and probably do still feel really good about where they are offensively. And I think the key going forward is how does BTJ fit and can you give them some explosiveness because right now they’re going pretty well. We spent so much time talking about the defensive line and all the hits and all the quarterback hurries and the and the the sacks. Uh the offensive line played very well the other day, too. Plenty of time for Trevor to throw. Plenty of holes for the runners to find. Uh that’s not a bad defensive front and obviously Kus Campbell tipped one of those balls for an interception and the safety got around Brentton Strange. But I think the offensive line has responded to that bad game in Houston with two really good games as well, which is a great sign going forward because they’ve played without Ezra. They played without Anton Harrison, without two starters. So, it’s good to see that group stepping up as well. Let’s take a look at that um fumble recovery kind of play there. I don’t know if we’ll fully know what there was clearly a missed assignment somewhere on this. Um and Trevor doesn’t see the guy coming and then uh pick I guess is what you want to call. I know it’s a fumble, but just to pick the ball out of the air and kind of run it in. We always love a big man touchdown. I’ll give them credit for that whenever they can be a little athletic, but that was a tough one. Yeah, lucky bounce. it it’s such a huge momentum game. You felt at that point the defense had gotten them off the field a couple times and you felt like the offense was going if you could get a 10-point lead early um with a team that was struggling. you kept feeling early like, “Oh, they’re dominating it.” And then this happens, like, “Okay, buckle up.” Because I said earlier, when you give up points when you’re on offense, the way this league’s built right now, it’s really hard to go blow a team out once you’ve given up that sort of field position momentum early. That hit and there was a later hit by Buddha Baker who had a sack which was really well disguised and sometimes they get home on the blitzes. Not sure whether the blame or the truth of the matter goes to Brettton Strange for not holding it a little longer or for Trevor not feeling it uh for seeing that that’s not getting away and realizing he has to find someone else. It’s probably a little bit of both. Yeah, you can see Brenton sort of released and tried to be the hot. Um yeah, it happens. Let’s take a look at one of one of Parker’s returns on the day. I mean, we know what he can do in special teams and how it sets things up, but um he kind of switches the field a little bit here. goes all the way back across, finds some space, and then it set up a really nice drive with Jacobe Meyers getting involved. I mean, we know how um clearly Trevor trusts Jacobe Meyers already at this point, and we know what Parker can do on special teams, but this is to me how they set themselves up for success, getting a short field for Trevor and then when he does throw it, finding the targets that he trusts the most when he needs to. Can you imagine where they’d be without Parker Washington? I can make the case right now. He is the most valuable player at this point in the season. Consistently, he has been the guy that has provided you with gamechanging plays that have either scored touchdowns or set up others to score touchdowns or made important catches in the back of the end zone at a moment where you’re trailing in a ball game that you absolutely need to win. Without Parker Washington, this team is not seven and four. I think he’s your MVP right now. Yeah, he’s become a a a remarkably good player who makes plays consistently. Um, I tweeted when on the return I said just put him in the Pro Bowl as a return. He’s not going to be a Pro Bowl as a receiver. But if he’s not a Pro Bowl special teams player, uh, I’d like to see the player who has made more important moments for his team on special teams than Parker Washington. You’ll see the guy this Sunday that that probably is the the biggest contender, the rookie from Florida who is uh playing in u in Nashville. Yeah. Yeah. He’s a pretty good player, too. But I his team is what, one and nine. So I I think you can easily make the case that Parker Washington is the more impactful special teams player. All right, let’s take a look. We’re not going to look at all of them, but how about uh Trevor’s third interception because that’s the one that led to the Cardinals getting points off of it. And I mean, John, it’s just part of the letting it rip at this point. Well, it was it was a really big time play. Uh sometimes, you know, I covered Pton Manning for 10 years. He threw some interceptions and he threw some bad ones at times. So, sometimes it happens. Um, you know, that was a big- time play by a big- time player. Uh, I thought the earlier interception when the linebacker got I think it was linebacker in third quarter was probably a worse pass than that. Um, yeah, I think it’s going to happen some. And I’ll go back to the top, Brian. I think it’s significant that Trevor used the phrase after the game, let it rip. That Liam so strongly and I think heartfeltly on Monday said, hey, I never gave up confidence in what the passing game was doing. Uh it’s a little bit of a signal for, hey, this is this is what it’s going to be, guys. You know, and I’ve gotten some comparisons in the last couple of days. Is he becoming Brett Favre in his prime? Wi-I which again gunslinger gunslinger uh picks and I don’t know if that’s exactly right but I’m not sure it’s exactly wrong. Well, I got a name for you and I’ll I’ll share it with you in hot takes. Yeah. No, I know another quarterback to to make a comparison in terms of slinging the ball around. Listen, he let it rip. Buddha Baker is a Pro Bowl probably an allp pro caliber safety. He made a great play, but here’s the more important thing and I’m sure we’re going to see the highlights. He let it rip the rest of the game. And on the next drive, he was four of four for 60 yards, right? Or for 59 of the 60 yards. And then in overtime, he let it rip to Parker Washington on the first play of overtime for 25 yards. It’s the way it goes in the National Football League. He’s going to make some bad throws. I think you made the point, the one to the linebacker was the one that you point to and say, “Well, that one absolutely you can’t make that one.” Buddha Baker made a great play on the ball. Yeah. And credit the defense for also when they did have the turnovers. Other than that third interception. Exactly. That’s great to see. We love complimentary football around here. Um let’s take a look at that Parker Washington touchdown because that was one of the throws from Trevor Lawrence that you do want to see. Um and when you needed it at that point in the fourth quarter just shaped it. I mean just the end zone view of this. I saw it on X. uh a guy took it from the his camera and it’s just the ball just it’s it’s like a a curveball, you know, coming from a pitcher and the the relationship that Parker Washington, sixth round pick, has formed with the starting quarterback out of necessity because you haven’t had BTJ all season long and you miss Demi Brown at some point in time. He has become the quarterback’s go-to guy. Well, big time trust there. uh known he’s gonna go make a play. That’s only gonna get better. Um I talked about Parker earlier, so I’ll sort of veer from this a second. Jacobe Meyers and Parker Washington uh I think are giving him two reliable receivers. A lot of credit to Jacobe on that highlight that we missed coming back for the ball on that red zone catch and then having a big time catch in the end zone. Parker Washington and Jacobe Meyers. Um th this team has created a wide receiver core that nobody thought would be the wide receiver core in August uh on the fly and I think it’s really impressive. They remind you of Marvin Harrison uh and Z Jones and Christian Kirk who were the the three guys in 2022 when he erupted when he when when Trevor broke out. They were always where they were supposed to be and he could almost without looking turn and throw the ball to a spot and know they were going to get it. And now guys, he’s got three now. Brenton Strange also, he’s also got Travis in the passing game. To be an efficient big- time offense, you need four guys who can beat double teams. Well, we’ll see if Brian Thomas Jr. fits into that when he comes back. Uh, but they’re starting to get a receiver core you can trust, and that’s really important. All right, let’s do this. Jags failed fourth down. Um, I’m sure Pete had a lot to say about it on uh happy hour last night because they chose not to steal gold. They went for it, which I was fine with. I know everyone wants to know my opinion. I was fine with it. Maybe the play. Could we run it? Is that a possibility? Yeah. I mean, the best plays in the NFL are the ones that work. So, um, yeah, you could have run it. I don’t know if they’re a smashmouth running team yet. Um, look, I said with Doug when he was here, honestly, um, these guys are going to go for it on fourth and one. The philosophy is we have it in our hands to end the game as opposed to giving it to the other team when your defense is tired. Uh, analytics show that’s what you do now. Well, think about it. Yeah. Old school guy, kick the field goal. But it’s not an old school league anymore. I’m a little new school on this one, too, because when you consider that you’re kicking off, right, and they’re probably going to get it between the 30 and the 35, unless something catastrophic happens and they return it even more than that. Um, I I I think it makes sense if you’ve got them in that spot on the field, you know, get the first down and end the game and keep them deep. Yes, the play didn’t work, but they were looking at Brenton Strange and the Cardinals covered it. There’s also an element of this and uh Liam touched on it and I think it’s important to remember they’re just getting this thing going. I think this regime is going to be here for 200 250 games. I think I think Liam is going to be that kind of a coach right now. They’re trying to establish this is what we do here. Uh we go to end the game in this situation and I think he mentioned that after the game of this is the kind of team we’re going to be. Well, he’s been consistent. He did that in week two in Cincinnati. It didn’t work out but the play they called was right. Right. And Brian Thomas Jr. just simply dropped the ball that day. We who can forget that game. Um I I’m with you. I think this is this is the Jaguars Mike Tomlin. This is the Jaguars John Harbaugh. They’ve got their coach. They’ve got their regime. And 74 is phenomenal. In year one, the most important element of this year was about building it the right way, putting a foundation and a culture in place. It’s in place. They’re doing the things they want to do. There’s a philosophy there of if we have fourth and one in this situation 10 times over the course of the season, doing it this way is going to get us more wins than doing it the other way. So there’s and I think they believe if you go for it on fourth and one in that situation, try to end the game, you’re going to succeed more often than not. And I will say I feel like the offense on the other team plays differently when they’re going for potentially either a game tying field or a touchdown because they go about it differently as well. Let’s do the final play of the game because I want to give some credit to the secondary. I know we are going long, but um I’ve been ragging on them a little bit. How about Christian Brazwell? I mean coming in B played a good chunk of this game. They really didn’t play much of Greg Newsome. They had Brazwell out there and makes a play at the end. Well, and listen, he gave up the big play that set up the game time field goal. So for him then to come back and be in a position to make the play, good on him to learn from the mistake and to be in the right spot instead of biting on the double move. Yeah, you hold your breath on this kind of play because it could have been called DPI. Y shouldn’t have been called DPI in my opinion. Uh but any time in this league now where a defender makes a play on the ball with the receiver around, you hold your breath. Uh I thought it was the right call because uh I didn’t really believe that the Cardinals should have benefited from sort of a Hail Mary there. Uh it probably could have gone either way. Great play by uh by Brazwell and uh credit to Dwey too for getting over and uh it was uh that’s the way that pass should be called. Too often in the league you get a flag. Uh Heath did a great job of trying to help keep me calm before the game and everything. He’s like, I’ve been there. I amped out. It’s not the way to go, bro. Let me let me just keep you calm and collected and I appreciate him for that. Going to do our hot tastes. That was Heath Farwell keeping him in check. Gard had a day. But um he was fun to watch. He was fun. Brian, tell us what your hot take is today. Trevor will be just fine. Now, a couple of reasons why I say that. A, I was encouraged by the sixplay 60-yard drive and how he responded after he threw that third interception that Buddha Baker made the play on the ball. And John, how many times have we seen this Jaguars team bumping along the bottom and you just figure, well, here’s going to be a three and out because, you know, they are not playing well. And I I I was looking at Trevor in particular and the way he was reacting on the sideline. And I told you I like guys who bring energy, who play with a little bit of anger, and that’s just not him. But you could just see the way he was nodding his head and looking and talking to people that he was up for the challenge. And he was. So I come out of this thinking, all right, he didn’t play his best game, though he did throw three touchdowns. And a couple of those throws were sensational. The one to Parker, we didn’t show it, but the one that Jacobe Myers caught in the end zone. So you got this inconsistency, this up and down. It’s the first year that he’s here in this program working with him. He’s going to be fine. Now fine might be all he ever is. That’s going to be up to him. That’s going to be up to the way that he improves. But I think I’ll give you the name. In his fifth season, Matthew Stafford threw 19 interceptions. His fifth year with the Detroit Lions, number one overall pick in 2009. He had some winning seasons with the Lions, but he never took them to the promised land despite the fact that he had Kelvin Johnson as his receiver, right? He had some Hall of Famers. Well, look at him now in his 15th season. He’s an MVP candidate and he’s playing ridiculous. 30 touchdowns and two interceptions. I am not saying that that is the trajectory that Trevor will be on. I’m just saying that sometimes it takes a little bit longer and I feel good after watching him respond. And in overtime, I think he’s going to be just fine. I personally think that and I am not worried about him. Do I want to see better play? Absolutely. Do I think we’re going to see more three interception games? Well, hopefully not this year, but in the future, yeah, probably. I think he’d be fine. Um, look, I get the the joke this week is the Trevor Lawrence experience, and I I get killed all the time. Are you defending Trev? Are you defending Trevor? Um, I am, by the way, in case you’re wondering. since 2022. Was that Doug’s first year? Y 22. Uh I I believe last season is a lost season. I never thought that Trevor really got anything going. The team didn’t get anything going. Beyond that, when Trevor’s been healthy for a functioning team, which it was a functional team in 22, 23, and this year they’re like 21 and eight with him when he’s been healthy. At the end of 23, it was a disaster because of the health. And I’m not saying you can take out the other stuff. My point is as soon as you criticize and figure out, history shows that you can win with them. Yeah. And they’re winning with him right now, no matter what else is going on. So that’s where again, I don’t know what the endgame’s going to be, but you have to bring that into the conversation uh if you’re going to talk about Trevor Lawrence. And the guy in Seattle, Sam Darnold, is also considered an MVP candidate this year. He’s on his fifth team in his eighth season and he was the fourth overall pick of that 2018 draft. These guys evolve over time. Yeah. So, this is sort of in the mind. You know, we’re way out of time. Um, stop worrying. It could apply to Trevor. It could apply to the whole team. Stop worrying about what they’re not for right now. I mean, there’s plenty that they’re going to have to do in the offseason. I think there’s still pieces they got to put in place. It’s not a mature roster. But in the context of this, you’re seven and four. You’re winning games. It’s fun. I’m having fun. You guys having fun? I’m having fun. So, so uh you know during after wins, you know, I’m getting these emails. Well, they stink at this, they stink at this, they stink at this. This is the NFL. They’re 74. Stop worrying about what they’re not. Enjoy what they are for now, and then they’ll work to get some stuff fixed in the offseason. Not I think they have flaws. They have flaws that are probably going to be the reason they’re not holding a trophy at the end. But they also have a lot of strengths that are making this fun and that you can see them week by week finding stuff that’s going to work going forward. They’re seven and four. I think that says it all. Winning is fun. Yep. Winning is always fun for me. Um, a little bit of an identity thing. I think you came in with high expectations for the pass game. It’s time to fully accept this is a run first team. When they win football games, it’s when their run game gets established. If you were going to pick out a strength for this team right now, it would be the run game. the the offensive line has been blocking well and Travis Tienne is having an amazing season and Toutton is developing as his rookie season goes along. For me, there needs to be some focus on that. We talk a lot about what Trevor isn’t, but let’s talk a little bit about what the run game has been for this team and that’s been to me the MVP of this offense has been Travis ETN and that’s what is getting a lot of these wins and maybe not getting the shine it deserves because of some other stuff that we’re picking at. But the run game has looked good. I can remember a conversation with Mike Maer. Good old Mike, the Jaguars original offensive line coach, and I said, “How do you get the run game going?” And he said, “The run game is an attitude.” And when you talk to the offensive lineman on this team, they have the right attitude for it. Absolutely. Stay with us. We’ll tell you what’s coming up the rest of the week after break. I said, “I would have written about it if you missed.” And he laughed. He goes, “Yeah, that’s what but two 52 yard field goals and you don’t even think about it anymore.” And he was the guy who won the game and didn’t get mentioned. It’s a good place to be. 1. Bone headed moves from qb again and still excuses from this group after 5 years, crazy to me. This qb is the weak link in the team. Great job defence for getting us the W. Go jags

  2. The interceptions weren’t from let it rip. Those are why they want Trevor to “let it rip”. Especially the Budda one. These are from the Doug/Liam game manager Qb programming. He’s been taught so much to look for what the defense gives him so much that he’s developed a noticeable tendency. When driving from our side of the field on 2nd, 3rd downs, some distance or long to a first down he goes to the first down line, numbers to the sideline way, way too often. Budda absolutely baited him and he bit hard. Trevor at all times needs to start seeing more what he can TAKE, more than just what the defense gives. His arm yearns to go down field. If he would consistently be in mid range completions or more, building rhythm where he’s best. Using the run game and play action “, the check downs, the “gimme” “easy” throws will be there. If he and Coen can truly “let it rip”….. watch out. We could see something special.

  3. People wonder why jags are Jekyll and Hyde, hmm how about we just fired the whole coaching and executive player management staff???? And have a whole new management system and offensive and defensive style? I mean defense has switched three coordinators in three years. So please, the fact we won 7 games and only lost 4, is just the product of progress not perfection. DUVAL 4 Life!!!!

  4. Trevor's development is nerve-racking. I get why people's patience has worn thin. But I think Liam and Grant will redefine what The Trevor Lawrence Experience is.

  5. I just can’t stand the TLaw glazing. I’m not saying to jump off the boat with him, but PLEASE be honest. At this stage of his career, he has worse stats than Jameis Winston. Those are facts. He has been in this league for far too long, to “still” be developing. Stop the glazing! Let’s be honest. We don’t have anything better than him, but please call it like it truly is.
