Mark Williams Postgame Interview with Tom Chambers and Tom Leander | Phoenix Suns

One of my favorite interviews. The guy who’s got the magnetic smile. Oh, wait. What’s on the phone? I think I think he’s looking to see if he Somebody left a mark. I got hit. He’s looking. He’s like Andy Johnson. He’s looking to see if there’s blood. Mark, you’ve been so great on our postgame shows, all of our interviews with that uh megawatt smile. But I couldn’t slap the smile off of Tom Chambers face tonight uh with the way that you’ve played all season long, but especially tonight. I mean, 17 board, 17 rebounds, 10 on the offensive end. You know, what got you going here tonight? Yeah. Yeah. Um, you know, just trying to stay active on the glass. Um, trying to provide us some extra possessions. Uh, just, you know, getting some wedges. Um, honestly, just trying to track the ball off the shot. So, u, credit to my teammates for knocking them down, just giving us some extra possessions, some extra life. I don’t know about your teammates knocking them down. your teammates missed a bunch and you cleaned up for your teammates. They they they should be thanking you for cleaning up for some of those some of those messes out there. But you know what I want to say is obviously this Suns team struggled against Houston without you. You come back and you are a savior in this game in my opinion. Is there going to be a time this year where you and the medical staff decide that okay we can play backto-back games? Yeah. Uh I mean it’s an ongoing discussion. Uh, but you know, I feel like, you know, the playing in place has been pretty good so far. Um, and just trying to stay consistent with it. But, uh, you know, my body’s in a good place. Obviously, I’ve been able to be out there and, uh, be there for my teammates. So, obviously, uh, later in the year, uh, when that time comes, I’ll be excited. Man, you’re showing so much toughness, too, taking a lot of shots out there. What does it mean to you? Devin Booker was interviewed at the end of the game by Amanda Flugrad, and he calls you the anchor of the defense. You get whacked in the face here. We’re taking a look at it. Um, and that the Suns as a team, it’s night and day when you’re on the floor. What does that mean when you hear something like that from Book? Yeah, it means a lot. Um, you know, that’s, you know, the guy who’s, you know, usually the focal point of every team scouting report. Um, you know, that’s obviously our guys. So, um, for him to have my back and I have his is, uh, pretty cool for sure. Well, isn’t it isn’t a solar eclipse night and day anyway? Isn’t that the definition of you? I mean, night and day. And Book just kind of quoted it, right? Yeah. Well, Mark, I have to jump in, too, because Solar Eclipse is kind of a nickname that I gave you. I I hope you’re Oh, so he hasn’t heard that before. I don’t know. I don’t know. When you watch like uh some of the shows, he’s busy playing. Okay. I hope you’re Are you okay with that? Do you like the Solar Eclipse? I mean, you basically block out the basket for anybody coming into the lane. Yeah, man. You know, I try my best. So, if y’all if y’all good with that one, then I am. So, all right. Do you have any others? I mean, did you did you come into Phoenix with any uh nicknames from the past in the NBA or even in college at Duke? No, I I don’t I don’t make the nicknames. I I let the the people uh make some nicknames for me. All right, cool. Well, as long as we have your permission. We’re going to run with Solar Eclipse for now. Mark, thank you so much. We will see you. Have a great Thanksgiving, by the way, with your teammates as you guys head to Oklahoma City. Happy Thanksgiving to you guys, too, man. Appreciate it. Uh, such a good dude and just a tremendous acquisition for the Suns as they put together this new look roster.
