With the trade deadline a few weeks away, the Knicks are now planning what moves they want to make, what players they want to add, and what positions they want to fill. And according to all the latest reports, they continue to indicate that at the trade deadline, New York will be adding a backup point guard to this roster. Shout out to Knicks insider Ian Begley for giving us this following update. According to him, if I’m making a guess today, I’m guessing that the Knicks look for veteran point guards on the trade market before they look for frontline help. Remember, the Knicks signed Malcolm Brogden in September with the hope that he’d be their backup point guard. They’ve had to go to plan B once Brogden retired. And plan B for the Knicks has been point guard by committee. Okay, so now we know that the Knicks are looking for a backup point guard at the trade deadline. The next question is, what player are they targeting? Well, thanks to Ian Begley, we have that information as well. According to Begley, the Knicks are getting by with a point guard by committee approach, but I think there is still a desire internally to add a backup point guard behind Jaylen Brunson. Who is that player? I’m not sure. Sacramento seems like a team that will be open for business ahead of the trade deadline. Javon Carter is in the final year of his contract in Chicago, but the Bulls clearly value the veteran point guard. I’m sure there will be other options on the trade market in the coming weeks. Begley continues here by stating, “Anyway, the trade market will materialize in earnest over the next 3 to four weeks. It will be interesting to see which teams sell and which players become available between now and early February. I’ve said this before, but I feel the need to say it again. I think New York should add a wing to this team, someone who can help in the front court and help the Knicks defensively. We could use another ball handler for sure, but I’d rather help the Knicks front court and some of the Knicks defensive issues. And I think if New York adds a wing, that’s how you do that. But clearly, according to Ian Begley, they are not thinking about bigs. They are not thinking about wings. Right now, more than any other position, they’re looking at the backup point guard position. And if they go in that direction, one player on their radar is Bulls point guard Javon Carter. And if you don’t know who Javon Carter is, let me tell you why. As a Nick fan, you are absolutely going to love him. Number one, he’s a veteran. He’s not a rookie. He has played in the NBA for a number of years now. Number two, he is defensiveminded. He is one of the better players on the Bulls roster. But even better than that, he can shoot the three. Yes, he can hit open threes. He can shoot three-pointers and make them. He is great off the bench for New York if they’re able to get him. And he can also playmake a little bit, get other players involved, and like Ian Begley said, he is in the final year of his contract. So for whatever the reason may be, if it doesn’t work out between Carter and the Knicks, New York can just wave him at the end of the season. No harm done, and they can look at other players they want to add to this team. But in my opinion, for what the Knicks are looking to do this season, if they are refusing to play Tyler Kak, to play Kevin McCuller Jr., to give some of these younger Knick players a chance, and they only want to build through adding veteran players, I’m not going to be mad at them for adding a player like Javon Carter. And apparently, his trade value is on the rise, and Carter is now a player the Bulls might be most willing to part with. When Javon Carter picked up his 6.8 million player option with the Chicago Bulls over the off season, it limited Chicago’s roster flexibility. But the 6’1 guard has since reminded everyone just how impactful he can be. Even on the Bulls, Carter’s trademark is still defense. In each of his last two seasons, he has finished near the top of the Bulls leaderboard in defensive rating. In his last season with the Milwaukee Bucks, 2022 2023, Carter also showed offensive potential as a knockdown shooter. That season, he shot an incredible 42% from three on four attempts per game. Very impressive volume and efficiency for a backup point guard. He was able to truly fill the moniker of a 3 and D point guard that year. It’s important to remember Javon Carter isn’t a maestro at point guard who bends defense with his scoring and playmaking, but he is a steady hand who gets the ball to teammates in the right spots and rarely makes mistakes. Listen to this. His careerhigh in turnovers per game is one. One turnover. That’s exactly the type of contribution you want from a veteran point guard in limited playing time off the bench, which is the exact role Carter would play if he was traded to this Knicks team. Now, I know what you’re thinking. If Carter makes 6.8 million, which player on this Knicks roster would we have to trade to get as close to that salary match as possible? And there is one player on this team that I believe gets the Knicks very close to that salary and that’s Gerson Yabaselli. Now I do not believe New York will be moving him at the deadline. However, if they feel a player is available and they really like that player and they think that player could be a gamecher for them this season, then they will do whatever it takes to get that player on this team. And if that means giving up on Yabaselli and moving him Leon Rose in this Knicks front office, they might have to do that. It’s going to be up to Yabaselli though. It’s going to be up to him to prove his value and his worth on this Knicks team. And he has a few weeks left to do it. But if he can’t do it, he could be on the trading block come the trade deadline. Only time will tell. And honestly, it’s going to come down to Yabaseli’s value. And since his value is so low right now, it’s unlikely New York will actually move him. Because if you move him, what are you going to get back? What are you going to get back that’s going to help you this season in your championship run? If the answer is really not much, then you have your answer there. It’s unlikely that New York trades Yabaselli, but it’s not impossible. a lot of moves at the deadline. They’re not impossible for New York, especially if they help the Knicks get one step closer to reaching a championship. And speaking about winning a championship, shout out to channel sponsor FanDuel, America’s number one sports book, for giving us this updated information and these latest odds on who’s going to win the NBA Finals this season. And as you can see, things have changed a lot on this list. One thing that hasn’t changed though is OKC still remaining on top. They’re at plus 155 and still remain number one on this list. After them, it’s the Denver Nuggets. They’re at plus 650. Then the Cleveland Cavaliers, they’re at plus 950. Then you have the Houston Rockets. They’re at plus 1,000. Then you have the Lakers, they’re at plus,400. Yes, you see that, right? You have the New York Knicks rounding out this list as number six on this list at plus500. If New York can put together a very long win streak, which is definitely a possibility, I promise you, New York’s odds, they will jump all the way back up. Another way for the Knicks to improve these odds is to make the right moves come the trade deadline. And clearly, according to Ian Begley’s latest reporting, the New York Knicks will be targeting a backup point guard at the trade deadline. And after they get a backup point guard, who knows what they’re going to target next. They might not be done. They might be looking for some front line helps getting a wing or another backup center. Who knows what Leon Rose and this Knicks front office is going to do. But one thing we know more than anything else, come the trade deadline, New York will be looking at a number of moves that they want to make. And I guarantee you before the trade deadline ends, New York will be adding another player to this team. And all signs are pointing to that player being a backup veteran point guard. But what about you guys? What do you think about the Knicks potentially adding a backup point guard at the trade deadline? And one name that has come up recently is Chicago Bulls point guard Javon Carter. Let me know how you feel about that addition in the comments section below, guys, because honestly, I would love to hear from you. But that’s going to do it for this episode. I hope you enjoyed it. And if you did, go ahead and smash that like button. Leave a comment below and of course guys, please subscribe to the channel. Until next time, Nick fans, take care of yourself, your families, and each other. Peace and
We have a major update on the Knicks trade plans! Knicks Insider Ian Begley with SNY recently reported that at the trade deadline the Knicks will be looking to add a veteran point guard to the roster. He then linked a point guard from the Eastern Conference to New York if he should be available at the deadline. In my opinion, if the Knicks are not going to utilize their younger players this season, then the only way to get better and improve the team in case of injury is to add the right veteran players. And it looks like New York is on the right track in doing that by targeting Chicago Bulls point guard Jevon Carter. But adding a backup point guard may not be the only thing the Knicks are looking to do at the deadline… Troy Mahabir breaks all of this down!

Don't we got duece
We gotta get vet who has real experience in the center position bc that's we we have a roster spot at. Gotta Sign Taj Gibson again
Or wait till chris Middleton get wavied and sign him cuz we are weak In the wing stop and again we need a vet. Do something small like trade Pacome Dadiet for Tyrese Martin or something.
This team can't bear no team in the west for a championship, Leon Rose as no idea what he's doing, all the back court can't make one , if he doesn't make a big trade he's gone that is why I love James Dolan. Leon Rose do nothing great from he's here all regular players he got , guys no other team don't want.
Mikal Bridges trade mess up everything for the Knicks that's why they can't make no big trade.
A point guard who can do distribution plays defense and shoot way to go
We need another Wing who can defend and another back up big man because of MitchRob load management issue
Yabusele is not doing the Knicks any favor he is not living to his expectation so far
I like Tyler, no thanks.
Yabusele should be playing like Randle used to play for us he's about the same size post up in the paint and plays better defense his 3 points shots are poor
Tyler will get better and Josh Hart has done a great job filling that role.
They must keep Deuce too.
The NY Knicks next man up men have done a great job since L.Shamat has been out with the dislocated right shoulder injury.
Cases for Kolek or Carter for the NYK future of the NBA 2025-26 season roster finish are debatable.
Yabusele is no dimensional because he has not been able to shoot well from the three point range at least adequately.
The NY Knicks look great offensively against the Charlotte Hornets.
The NY Knicks need OG back as equivalent to acquiring a wing.
Tyler Kolak should be the back-up point guard. Heβs comparable in size to Jalen Brunson and is a great ball handler and passer . . . key skills for a point guard. TRADE NOT NEEDED!
Knicks just need healthy players…..
Hi Troy, bring Dink Pate from the G league. ππ½ with his 6β8β frame heβs a problem for the opposing teams.
The players the Knicks should get during the trade deadline, to expand their championship year.
1. Ty Jerome ( could play pg.)
2. Daniel Gafford ( Mitch replacement. Amazing at defense, have offense to his game and his percentage is high. Especially on lobs.)
3. Kenrich Williams ( A wing that could produce for the Knicks.)
With those 3 you could get at least 25 ppg. This will increase our bench tremendously and we would be a more dangerous team.
Yes, the Knicks have the assets and money to make these happen.
No fuckin thanks ! Hell NO
You know what is the Knicks problem they got
These rookies and they or learning the game it's not easy but it seems if they don't have any fate in them and they're not getting better because everyday all they hear about is tread, the Knicks is not playing like a championship team, and also there are not the only one want to win all they need too many players everyday is about tread, the players they can play with aggressiveness and also keep the ball moving they also need to
Improve the quality shooting they have not spent time working on these things because all the players can hear about is tread ,tread this tread that they can not go over the cap ,they have a lame Center in Michelle Rob.
He shoot he always hurt, how can you build a championship team with players as that can hardly make free throws. They to draft Center but none of it works out the players who they should trying hard to get
The guy from Utah. Get a good Center π. Tread Kat is dumb you people or insane eyes or close the mind can thinks but with limited sense able idea tread they do enough tread already they almost over the spending limit. Why you think they're going to win a championship this is what they do set them self up and when things don't go the way they wanted it ,it's all hell.
Knicks should trade for:
K.Looney
Bey/Hawkins/Alvarado
Bagley 3
Either Champagine Brother
Iβm so lost with this Jevon Carter take. Imo, Kolek is a better back up pg than Hukporti is a back up center. The Knicks are going to lose Mitch before the deadline or the off season. I feel like the center position should be prioritized.
Slim Shady TJ from the pacers should be the #1 option for backup PG
We dont need a backup point because we have duece. We need a wing and a better 4 man. I like Matesse Thuyblle in Portland at the 3 or Johnathan Issac
