Other original six teams, including those with much stronger economic markets, get steep discounts on all sorts of merch.

For us, we can get $100 worth of hats for $95. Considering $100 is the free shipping threshold, there isn't even really a deal.

I don't expect the online store to have discounts other than what's in person for day to day, that's to be expected. This isn't that. This is another example of the organization treating the fans like crap.

  1. Fanatics offering better deals, and the deals apply to the authentic pro merch, and lululemon merch.

  2. I had to re-read that a few times. Buy one hat, and get 10% off the second hat? Someone signed off on this as a Black Friday deal?

  3. Folks really need to lower their expectations of this franchise’s ownership/business operations and their ‘care’ for the fans.

  4. time to stop booing the team as they exit the ice after another embarrassing loss but instead chant “***sell the team***?”

they’re about money and selling nostalgia, not their on ice product these days. very hard to support this team in its current state.

  5. I’m not spending a fucking dime on this team. the entire organization is beyond embarrassing.

  6. Why do we feel entitled to a discount?

25% off all home games the next two months, but yeah bitch about merch

  7. Chris Ilitch is a bitch ass nepo baby who would rather make a couple extra dimes than preserve his father’s legacy.

In 5 years he will make the fan base pine for the days of the Norris family ownership.

  8. Obviously a terrible “sale” but I think it’s so funny how people here keep getting offended. This is not the first “slap in the face” post I have seen.

  9. fuck you chris illitch, and fuck the illitches in general. Parking lot whores ruining our city. I dont feel bad about illegally streaming your broadcast.

  10. Between the irrelevant last decade plus, the embarrassment that was the Centennial FanFest, and this shit, it’s just clear to me that the Red Wings franchise I grew up with (saw all 4 Stanley cups by age 19) is dead. It died with Mr. I and we have to get used to this new era that is “just another franchise” and not the most successful NHL team in the USA.

You have to treat this franchise as if they went away for a few years and came back like the Cleveland Browns did in 1999. The only difference is we apparently traded in the Pittsburgh Steelers for the Browns.

Just an embarrassing organization top to bottom at the moment, it’s pretty sad.

  11. The leafs are offering buy one get one 50% the whole team store, this is actually embarrassing

  12. I mean I feel the same way about literally almost all black Friday sales. However after the centennial fan fest debacle yeah sell the team.

  13. All the love and respect to Mike and Marian, but they raised one serious POS son. Eat a never ending bag of dicks Chris Ilitch

  14. The sale yesterday was actually really solid. There was a hat I’ve been eyeing that was 35% off and a lot of other gear that was 20-40% off.

  15. All Black Friday sales are a joke now. The door busters of old are long gone. Remember 75% off stuff for one day only? On an old Black Friday my folks got me a jersey from Mitchell & Ness like 40% off with free shipping. Now all you get is a discount on a 2nd hat

  16. The Pizzarena team store sucks for both teams. Terrible selection.

I am 100% certain that both Ilitch and Gores must own Zephyr Hats. Profit is the only possible reason to sell that garbage product instead of New Era, the official hat of at least the NBA, MLB, and NFL, if not NHL now, too.

  17. The solution is not to buy from the official team shop EVER, they price items at in area game day prices 24/7. You’ll only find a deal worth a damn in very specific situations. They bank on people wanting to buy from “The Official Team Store” which is why they charge what they do.

  18. I don’t even find stuff that I like anymore ever since fanatics crowded out all of the smaller producers. All the stuff is mainstream, generic looking, and three times the cost
This sale is more of an f you than the centennial event.

  19. The Red Wings crap all over the fans. If you think that this is an insult, you should have seen the $3 canvas bags that season tickets were sent last year for Christmas. They were straight-to-the-trash quality.

  20. The team store is THE MOST expensive wings gear you’ll find anywhere, and the reason why China merch exists.

  21. Well hey that’s nifty! Because the team was also a joke and slap in the face for Black Friday.

  22. lol between this and the crappy heat pressed centennial jerseys for $300 and $340 before tax (if you’re getting an alumni) the team store is a joke. Not to mention, they don’t even have centennial stock in larger sizes for the most desired jersey since the winter classics. They could have such a nice store like the Kraken or literally any other team, but we’re stuck with this.
