News reached Bulls players that Karnisovas made the decision to fire director of player development/shooting coach guru Peter Patton after the loss to Miami in Wednesday’s play-in game, leaving a core of current players “beyond pissed,” as one said in a text.
“Coach Pete was the real deal … (messed) up,” another player said.
Not just smoke coming from the locker room for the wildly popular Patton, but a full fire.
Throughout this season, players like Coby White, Patrick Williams, Dalen Terry, Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis all publicly praised the work they put in with Patton and the benefits it had on their game.
But it also pulled back the curtain on what some feel was a bigger issue that the Bulls and Karnisovas currently have.
According to a source, Patton was a guy that also liked to shoot from the hip and speak his mind when asked. The feeling is that while Karnisovas often asks opinions, “They have to fit his,” the source said.

The way this organization is, I hate the idea of the play in. They’ll never strive for more because it’s easy to lump it into being part of the post season.
They don’t want to build the culture needed to really compete.

Every time anyone asked why I wasn’t hyped about the Bull hot start. Because this organization is not serious. They have the lowest staff count in the NBA, they never spend money, they keep losers in the front office longer than they should. It’s a mess.
Bright side is a fantastic draft, the problem is that our front office can’t draft for shit and when we do draft someone Billy never plays the rookies.
Giddey and Vuc are shooting the highest 3pt% of their careers, Matas is having some of the same inconsistency struggles he had last year, Coby has played 4 games and Pat is shooting better than he did last season. I’m not sure if Patton being gone is the issue.
