Just saw this! I'm fairly new to following baseball so I'm not sure if Venezuela winter ball means anything. I've loved this kid since day 1 and would love to see him finally come up. Do you guys think he's good bright days ahead of him in Queens? Or does Semien throw a wrench in that?

  1. Acuna doesn’t really have the likely ceiling to be an everyday player barring some major changes

Assuming he isn’t DFA’d during ST or traded, his good outcome future is like a better Luis Guillorme

  2. The thing I love the most about it is that they’re giving him outfield reps so he can be the superutility with speed.

  3. The Semien trade was the official confirmation that the Mets don’t view him as an everyday player.

  4. I think he did this last year too. He just isn’t good enough to be an everyday player at the big league level. No power and a bad eye don’t mix. He has speed but can’t get on base. The glove will always play at least.

  5. Just a reminder, he’s still only 23

Always a safer bet that any player likely won’t succeed, but we’ll see. He’s clearly putting in the work

  6. I mean it’s always better for a player to be playing well in any situation right? He’s a fun guy to have on the team, but also seems like he’d be frustrating as well. I wouldn’t mind him being traded considering we’ve already given him a pretty extended look.
