If the Bills don’t make the playoffs, will Joe Brady be the scapegoat?

Yes
It will be the injuries. Next.
Only reason he hasn’t been fired yet
Should be McDermott. He’s made comments that he thinks 20 points should win you a game. If you want a look at the offense he wants to run, look no further than Rick Dennison.
If the Bills don’t make the playoffs, no one should be spared.
It’s not called a scapegoat if he deserves it.
Non stop injuries have been the big problem but he may be thrown under the bus
He wont be a scapegoat he’ll be a large reason we don’t
We would need to clean house.
Regardless of how you feel about the coach or GM firing someone on their own merit doesn’t make them a scapegoat.
Was Dorsey magically a fantastic OC because people thought McDermott should have been fired instead?
McDermott finds his annual scapegoat. Kevyn from accountyng waves hello…
Probably
If this happens, fire everyone up to and including Jan from accounting. Not even the towel boy should be spared.
It’s a proven track record. When the Bills score 30 or more points in the Josh Allen era they are 48-5. It’s simple. Score some fucking points and get away with this dip and duck short pass bullshit. Put the ball in Cooks hands. Give that man 20 or touches a game. Target Palmer (if he can stay healthy) 6-8 times a game. Same with Shakir. Have long drives to keep your def off the field. If the Bills miss the playoffs or even get in and get elimination in first round, GM and HC and his staff need to go.
Jesus. So many goddamn doomers on here this sub isn’t any fun. I’m done and out with this sub.
Go Bills! Screw the doomers!
No the injuries will be
um….yeeeeHhh duuuuude.
No. Sean has “all the confidence” in Brady. 🙄
Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
Of course. As long as McDoofus is here there’s always someone else to blame
McDermott would never scapegoat anybody. Why would you people think something like that. Did he scapegoat the ST coach after :13? Did he scapegoat Leslie Frazier after the divisional round loss at home to the Bengals? Did he scapegoat Ken Dorsey after 12 men on the field and lost to the Broncos? McDermott is a man who owns up to his mistakes and has high character.
Even if they make the playoffs, I think he has to go. Too many games scoring fewer than 24 points.
That being said, I don’t think Beane or McD are going anywhere, but they need to take a look at Bobby Babich.
It’s a personnel problem, first and foremost.
IF THE BILLS DO NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS MCDUMBASS NEEDS TO GO!
Yes. Joe Brady has had a terrible season as Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator.
It’s apparent he can’t figure out how to beat opponents which load the box defensively.
The book on the Buffalo Bills offense is load the box, essentially blitz every play, control James Cook and dare Allen and his limited often hurt receivers to beat them.
Pittsburgh will load the box defensively and blitz every play. With both offensive tackles for Buffalo injured, the Steelers should have a field day pressuring Allen.
Can Allen survive this?
The Bills will have to run the ball decently and when they throw, it has to be quick short passes getting the ball out of Allen’s hands—fast!
Forget long developing pass plays like play action. Unlikely Allen will have any time to throw. He will probably be running for his life the whole game.
Find a new offensive coordinator who can develop screen passes with a convoy leading the back or receiver with the ball down the field.
Nope. It’ll be the strength and conditioning coach
Honestly Brady / Beane need to go no matter what. If there happens to be a good offensive minded HC available. McD can go too. . if not I’m good running it back with a new GM, McD, and Daboll.
I’m by no means satisfied with Joe Brady, but if the Bills fail to make the playoffs the blame is more on Brandon Beane. I’m actually no Beane hater either, but it is obvious he has failed to restock this offense with talent outside of the obvious Allen and Cook. Beane failed to field the best possible roster this year, and probably got lucky last year. If Beane sticks around he better get serious about WR. Brady should be on the hotseat as well.
In my opinion it’s Beane who should be under more fire here. Brady and McDermott can only do so much with the tools they are given. Looking at our roster, without Josh Allen we are pretty lack lustre.
I don’t think Brady’s a scapegoat. Offense is the main reason why the team has lost every game. I can’t point to any games this season where you watched and said “the defense blew it.” Maybe New England…but the Bills had three turnovers that game.
So yeah Brady is part of the problem and he’ll be gone before Beane and McDermott. Both will get another season to right the ship.
FWIW people called Dorsey a “scapegoat” too. When in reality he was just a a below average OC
Yes. Although I think he already is the scapegoat.
I don’t think it’s entirely Joe Brady’s fault, but he’s definitely missing things, and the most frustrating part is it’s stuff they were doing right last year.
Last year (and I believe last 2-3 years) Ty Johnson was our 3rd down back. He came in every 3rd down and usually stayed for 4th down in the event we went for it. He was often (but not always) utilized on those 3rd downs for quick screens that had a pretty high success rate and were good for 3-6 yards on 3rd down. But this year for the first several weeks it was all James Cook. Cook is great, but when you force him into the scheme at every opportunity, I don’t think he can be his best. They still brought Ty Johnson in on 3rd down, but when they did, teams knew it was for a reason. That made those screens go from reliable 3-6 yard plays to usually tackles at the LoS or for a slight loss.
Similarly, last year the Bills offense heavily utilized (triple) bunch formations and motion, looking more like how Miami tries to play their offense. They just aren’t doing it as much now. The benefit to what they were doing is all the motion makes man coverage harder to play. We used to reliably put Shakir in motion and he’d turn up field into a trip bunch and break off underneath in the middle of the field. The motion combined with coming out of a bunch formation made covering him incredibly hard. Hence all the short 7-8 yard catches over the middle he had. They have just stopped doing that, and I cannot explain why. This has lead to the Bills getting kinda manhandled by man coverage—Texans played exclusively man last week, and it felt like Josh had nowhere to go.
On the missing stuff thing, why is Brady going back to running out of Shotgun when it was a colossal failure under Dorsey? Why are we trying to run Knox on routes clearly designed for Kincaid, when Knox just doesn’t have the skills to make those plays? Why is Keon only running vertical routes or deep posts into the Safeties? Why is Josh only throwing him back shoulder throws where he has to come back for the ball—even on plays where he beats the coverage??? Why don’t we on first or second down just moonshot a ball downfield to try and stretch the defense—Josh’s deep throw % has fallen off a cliff. Why aren’t we doing designed runs for our QB that is one of the most effective running QBs in NFL history? Why when there’s clearly pressure coming are we running plays that don’t have a quick checkdown target to beat the blitz?
Some of this is squarely on Brady, but some of it is on McDermott, and some of it is on Josh just not seeing open receivers sometimes.
Should the chiefs fire Andy Reid? I think in our case it’s a GM issue primarily. Brady can only do so much with what he’s got. He’s not great but the losses are 90% on personnel.
To me, it’s the strength and conditioning staff. WAY too many injuries.
Brady will be scapegoat, McDermott will get by because “injuries wouldn’t allow teams potential” funny thing is, a LOT of fans wanted him to stay 2 years ago. Now you’re getting the full experience.
This is all Geno Smith’s fault
You cant be the scapegoat if youre truly one of the biggest problems
You can’t fire Beane without also firing McDermott. No real respectable GM will come to Buffalo thinking “oh boy, I’m glad I’m straddled with a HC I didn’t personally get to choose.” As for Brady, I guarantee they are already planning on making him the scapegoat, and the funny thing is, all they’ll do is promote from within. As if somehow that’ll make things better. They never try to hire outside the team. If the Bills do fail to make the playoffs, everyone needs to go. Not because of simply missing the playoffs, but from the outside looking in something seems so very off with this team that I don’t know if it’ll be repaired. Just judging off body language and facial expressions from the players, they look like they simply don’t want to be there most games. Then the GM throwing a temper tantrum on the radio is never a good luck. McDermott’s interviews are generally coach talk anyway, but he sounds a lot more snippy versus previous years. I don’t even say this as a McBeane hater and while I acknowledge that I don’t know what happens in the locker room and behind closed doors, this is what I see on the field (and obviously the WGR meltdown and postgame interviews)
We need another come together speech about the 9/11 highjackers
YES

How is brady a scape goat if its his fault thats a clown take all i hear from. Most bills fans is brady has to go its his fault but then if he goes he is being scape goated make it make sense because it don’t.
Yes
Oh we’re cleaning house if we miss the playoffs, completely unacceptable with Josh Allen.
I mean it’s gonna be all 3 surely. The roster is paper thin at some important positions, we didn’t improve the WR spot very much and it was a clear weakness, D Line is clearly a shambles with Ed gone even. I don’t see how Beane/Brady/McD all don’t equally share some blame institutionally.
