WTF Was That?
Man, what was that? I missed the Hawks Kraken game on Thursday. The first Hawks game I haven’t caught all season. And honestly, after seeing what went down, I kind of wish I’d missed this one, too. Chicago followed up that loss with another rough night, dropping their second straight in a 93 beatdown against the worst team in the Eastern Conference. Just a brutal, flatout embarrassing stretch of hockey. And with Colorado rolling into town on Sunday, things could go from bad to downright ugly. There really aren’t any positives to pull from a night like this. Chicago got outworked in every area. They were out chanced 10 to2 in scoring opportunities and 4 to1 in high danger looks in just the first period. Down 3-1 after 20 minutes and somehow it only spiraled from there. If there’s any bright spots, it’s that Bert kept his heater going and the first line looks good. But that’s about where the good news ends. The Hawks completely hung Soda out to dry tonight. You can’t pin a single piece of this disaster on him. Not with the way the team in front of him played. And if there are any good takeaways, and we’re really digging deep here, it’s that Ryan Green, Connor Bard, and Tyler Bratusi continue to look like a legitimately dangerous top line. Bard’s playing like someone who’s quietly building a heart trophy case. I don’t know if there’s a player in the league who means more to his team right now. He picked up another multi-point night with two helpers, hitting the 100 career assist milestone in the process. Chicago actually had one slim window to climb back into this game. And no surprise, it came from number 98. Right after Velic made it 52, Bernard jumped in on a breakaway that could have cut it to 53, but he got robbed. Less than a minute later, Josh Don buried one to make it 6-2. And that was the dagger. Ryan Green added another assist as well, continuing to make the most of every opportunity he’s getting on that top line. Bertusi at least keeps doing Bratusi things. He was an absolute menace in front of the net again, banging home two more goals to bring him up to 12 on the season, and he’s now sitting at 19 points in 18 games. The guy has been automatic. On a night where the Blackhawks somehow gave up eight goals at five on five, this top line still managed to finish as a plus one. In just over 12 minutes together, they outshot Buffalo 8 to6, outscored them 2 to one, and generated four high danger looks while giving up only two. But the big picture, Chicago made the Sabres look like the Dynasty Hawks tonight. the last place Buffalo Sabres. And that’s the part that should set off every alarm in the room. Yeah, the Hawks got absolutely hosed by a couple brutal missed calls. The Bratusi missed high stick right in front of the ref and the Donado trip right behind the net. But when you give up almost double digits in goals, there’s really no point wasting breath on the officiating. That’s not why this one got out of hand. The team just didn’t show up tonight. Plain and simple. Honestly, boys, there isn’t much left to say. This game made me want a Men in Black myself. After the vibes we’ve had the past few weeks, seeing this team show up tonight was shocking. The fun, high energy Hawks we’ve been watching nowhere to be found. The only good news is the game is over. We can crumble it up, toss it out, and move on. Regrouping won’t be easy with Colorado rolling in tomorrow. But hey, it can’t get any worse than what we just watched, right? Appreciate you boys for sticking around and watching this despite the horror show we just saw on the ice. And again, sorry I couldn’t get a recap for the Hawks Kraken game. Life just gets busy sometimes, you know. Make sure to like and subscribe for Hawks content all season long. and I’ll catch you boys in the next one.

Here's the thing. I'm spoiled and every loss hurts more.
Luckily I live in a market where buffalo games are blacked out but my cable system doesn’t carry the channel the game was on.
This was the first bad game this season and that was putrid there is no words Arvid got bitched the offense got hitched and I think after the Seattle game this team lost the moral to compete hopefully against the top team in the West Tmr we can keep it competitive
This is the first loss all season where I felt the hawks just simply dint show up and showed a piss poor effort. I was embarrassed by their effort or lack of
On the bright side it was onlt the first abd game of the season so hopefully it is the only game that is bad like that
I need to apologize to Evan Bouchard for calling him a traffic cone cuz I just witnessed seven of them last night.
That was an ass kicking.
Can't have wins without losses
We’re gonna beat the avs. Callin it now 4-2
Bedard still a plus 1 is crazy
He's young he made a mistake but the most important part of it is he held himself accountable. We'll be just fine.
Even the dynasty Blackhawks had a couple games like this every year. Let's see how they respond against Colorado Sunday?
But did anyone else watch Tage Thompson and think this could be Mason West in a few years?
No need to overreact to one game
Wuh wuh wha?
They played like they got up at 3 am after playing a game the day prior, and getting up early again
To be fair to the hawks this is not the first shocker by the Sabers recently. I'm willing to bet they assumed like most of us that they'd be able to stomp all over the sabers and get two easy points. But this is why you don't underestimate anybody no matter where they place in the standings. Although I would'nt just write off the ref's either, the officating has been the most awful it's ever been this season.
Soderblom humiliation ritual
Who cares about Buffalo with there biggest test Sunday against Avs at home they will bounce back
The miss slash call on Bedard, followed by an unsportsmanlike was the most ridiculous thing. Except for the facemask no call on Homer last weekend. Not surprised though
It’s one game we will be fine – we will be fine. As we said we have things to work on. Not the end of the world.
I was very proud that the team hadn’t had an embarrassing effort all year. I had hoped the team was good for that. But playing in the second of a back to back against a weaker opponent is a recipe for trouble.
Nothing about this game made me feel good.
I think we are finally seeing what we expected from the Blackhawks this year. Only good thing is playoff teams will be looking for some good veterans at trade deadline. Foligno, Dickinson, and Murphy can give us some good draft picks.
