[Michael Whitaker]”A Little Fragile”: Dylan Larkin Makes Tough Admission After Third Straight Red Wings Loss

  1. For what it’s worth I actually liked Larkin’s interview. You can tell he still gives a shit

  2. Here’s the thing. We’ve gone through how many head coaches during this rebuild, 3? No matter the coach, we have the same problems. No one wants to skate, no one wants to check, no one wants to WIN. The only time they show an ounce of grit is after getting their asses chewed out by McClellan, and that lasts at most two games at a time. I love Larkin as a player, but at some point, we have to start looking at the leadership on this team. Because it seems a whole lot more systemic than the coaching staff.

Steve needs to cut out the locker room cancer, whatever it is. I don’t think it’s anyone in the player leadership group, but they need to step up and figure out what the fucking problem in there is.

  3. This team has all of the same problems they had when Yzerman took over. He has not fixed one single issue with this team. He just rotates in and out the same mediocre players every year never getting real talent. How many more tries is it going to take to get a real goalie?

  4. Honestly until we see roster changes I dont anticipate the wings getting better. Larkin can be a leader all he wants but he can’t fix mediocre talent.

  5. Compher gets it. Consistency throughout the season. This team can’t even stay consistent through a game right now. At the start of the season they showed it, now they are falling off.

It’s easy to point a finger at Yzerman and now at Larkin. Neither are the problem. Although I often find myself thinking, what could we get for him – a la the Jack Eichel trade? I then think about how his “heart” carried Team US recently. Maybe his leadership style is not right for this group but his play most certainly is.

Yzerman is doing a lot right with this team, in my mind. Bringing in Gibson was a gamble. I guess he thought Cossa was not ready. He makes the safe free agent signings because the big ones are not there. We have our best players locked up on good contracts. Now the team only needs that one game changer. Let’s make that happen with Vancouver.

  6. Remember when Newsy said the same thing and was roasted for it? Pepperidge Farms remembers.
