The Orioles have signed right-hander Ryan Helsley to a two-year contract, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports. The deal will be finalized once Helsley passes a physical, and Helsley can opt out after the 2026 season.
Would not shock me in the slightest if he has a major bounce-back
He literally lost 10 games for us single-handedly.
Wonder if Mike Schildt was involved in the process and he sees what was different during his time coaching him in St Louis and how he imploded last year
Good riddance
Oh thank god he’s not on my Mets any longer
Watch him go back to peak form. Mehhh him
I don’t know why he fell apart in Queens, but I hope he finds it on the O’s.
Just cause a player is good somewhere else, doesn’t mean assume he’ll be same in NY
Thats a good deal for Baltimore.
Glad he went to a team that I won’t resent when he inevitably bounces back and becomes elite again.
He was kind of awful at the end there…
Was hoping he stayed in the NL so some of our hitters could pad their stats.
Good riddance.
He does not deserve to use Hells Bells for his intro. It was the dumbest shit ever seeing him come into a game at Citi Field.
Don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya!
BOOOOOOO
Mets legend lmao
man this one was SO weird, like dude is genuinely a very good borderline elite pitcher and then got the yips here. sad it didnt work out
Can’t wait for him to have 30 saves
Good riddance
Good for him ig
Bye
As long as he’s not a Met, thank god
noo tell me it isn’t so
Some guys just aren’t meant for new york. I liked the trade but sometimes it doesn’t work out
Thank god
Bye! Don’t let the big apple hit you on the way out.
Does somewhat set a bar for the RP market. 2/26 with an opt after 1 year. Certainly the low end for some guys. Devin Williams might get less than he thought.
Good for Helsley. Bad for Diaz
Helsley was rumored to be transitioning to a SP which would have removed a closer from the FA pool
Instead he stays a closer and locks up one of the few remaining closer spots with all of the other closer options still on the board fighting for those spots
Diaz is the only closer with the QO
I know I’ll get downvoted to oblivion for this, and for the same optical reason even Stearns would never have done this even if he wanted too, but: I low key wish we could have given him a deal like this and a shot at redemption. He was starting to return to form at the tail end of the season, but the damage had already been done. But I really don’t think he’s a head case who can’t play in NY, I think he just had a rough adjustment period that happened to coincide with our team undergoing a historic collapse that created a negative feedback loop of perception and performance that anybody could struggle to handle in the short term. Oh well, I bet he’ll be great again with the O’s.
Man I was so excited when we traded for him… he was AWFUL for us and likely the reason we didn’t make the playoffs
That is sooooooooo Mike Elias
2/28M and opt out after year 1.
For reference Minter got 2/22M , opt out after year 1
Raises Iglesias got 1/16M.
Seems like reliever rates are still around the same as before even at the non-Diaz level.
Good riddance.
Bye Felicia!
He’s finally gone. He can’t hurt us anymore.
I am glad he is gone.
So they gave us trash with Mullins and now they get our trash with Helsley.
I had hoped to keep him, he’s a good talent. But he is quite literally the reason we missed the playoffs.

He’s going to still be tippin on fo-fos
Enjoyed watching him throw ball four 103mph.
