[Passan] Closer Ryan Helsley and the Baltimore Orioles are in agreement on a two-year contract with an opt-out after the first season, pending physical, sources tell ESPN. Helsley, who fielded interest from teams to convert to a starter, will be the ninth-inning option for Baltimore.

#THE ORIOLES SPENT MONEY ON A PITCHER ‼️
Why pitch more innings when one inning good enough
are you shitting me
Very curious to see dollars.
Oh boy…
“I’m gonna make sure he fails that physical” – Mike Elias
I’d have been happy with this if we had gotten him back in 2024. After how he looked for the Mets, this just feels like another Craig Kimbrel experience.
Alright Elias now we just need a couple starters and an outfield bat.
What about Bautista?
That feels… very random
Hoping it’s less than 7M per year for the market’s sake.
Edit: 14M haha oh no
Bye, thanks for nothing!

The AL East right now:
Closing out those 9-2 losses, baby!
But I wanted him 🙁
This is definitely an orioles type move
*Phew*
#HELL’S BELLS 🔔
I want our money back.
Solid 9th inning option for the O’s. But definitely have to see how he performs. When he’s on, he’s on.
After his Mets tenure? I have my doubts.
A shockingly straightforward move by Mike Elias
“We solved the bullpen!”
“But Mike the ROTATION IS-“
“Shhhh”
He can’t be worse for the Os than he was for the Mets, right?
…..right?
Concert to a starter… huh why? I don’t see his pitch mix doing very well multiple times through a lineup.
Actually, I don’t even trust him once thru the order at this point so why not (I know the Orioles are doing it but still)
He was underwhelming on my Mets, but he’s historically fantastic.
I like this move, and think he can find it in Baltimore.
He has one good pitch, and it’s not his fastball.
I don’t get this, but glad he cashed in and not with the Cardinals.
Thanksgiving is over and Mike Elias is still cooking!
Things can only go back up from where he was at with the Mets right
He single handedly cost us nearly 10 games, good riddance.
Of course I expect him to have a full bounce back season and pitch like an elite now
Dodgers prob wasn’t interested since Helsley was second to Scott in blown saves. Imagine having 19 combined blown saves on roster. I hope Baltimore has a backup plan.
Well he can’t be worse than last year
Glad he went to a team that I won’t resent when he inevitably becomes elite again.
You all are focusing on the fact that he sucks and not the fact that we signed a pitcher to a multiyear contract.
In all seriousness, this is a good signing. Worth making the bet that he will find his fastball again.
I think that’s a great contract, and I’d give 50/50 odds that it ends up being a terrible contract.
Closer was definitely a need, so glad to see they addressed it in a serious way. Now just gotta focus on a top end starter and impact bat and we’re in business.
Can a team in a different division sign a player please?
He can settle back into a small market now
Good luck Ryan. Hope you figured your shit out
Best of luck Ryan, hope you find it again. And best of luck O’s fans, hope he doesn’t induce heart attacks out of you guys
Meh, worth a punt. I get he was awful on the Mets, but he was very good before that, and it’s just a 2 year deal.
Everyone on this thread mocking this move would also mock us if we overpaid for Diaz and would certainly mock us if we did nothing. So STFU.
