“Disappointing” | Alex Lyon After Buffalo Sabres Loss To New Jersey Devils | Buffalo Sabres
Did you feel in the net that finally getting back in? Uh I didn’t feel too bad. Uh probably game felt better than uh the score. Uh but uh that being said uh um you know it’s been a while since I’ve won a game and so for me that’s really the most important thing and uh yeah just disappointing obviously and uh I got to find a way to do a little bit more. You talk about winning a game but it’s this is a team sport also. I mean, you can’t win it on your own. Yeah, for sure. I mean, you know, everybody wants to score and my job is to stop pucks and and so that’s all I’m going to focus on and um you know, I’m not going to beat myself up over it, but um you know, it’s important that everybody holds themselves accountable as well and um so uh just yeah, we got to continue to do the right things and continue to hammer on the details and and um and just uh you know, it’ll turn around. This is a tough game to get a rhythm. Yeah, for sure. I exit the first period was probably the most uh they kind of had some volume there and um it’s difficult always when uh their goalie is making a lot of saves and obviously he was feeling pretty good tonight. So, um uh but yeah, frustrating game uh frustrating outcome um but we got to turn it around quickly. From your perspective, what was New Jersey doing to maximize their chances? Yeah, I thought uh you know, I just thought that they made they capitalized when they had chances and um some it’s just it’s just the way it goes. I really don’t, you know, think about it too much like that. Um you know, I always want to uh tell myself that I can make every save and that’s part of it. Um so, uh yeah, they did a good job capitalizing for sure. Um, you know, and and Jake, uh, Allen played great there. Um, but like I said, quick turnaround here with you. As long as you’ve been in the league, you’ve been in all sorts of situations, including the one you’ve been in the past month or so here. How do you keep yourself ready? Yeah, just uh it’s the name of the game. I mean, it’s uh it’s survival and um you win games, you get to stick around and you play well, you get to stick around. So, uh that’s just what I try to do. and um Colton and and and Up have been playing well and winning games. So, credit to them and um um just have to keep a good vibe and um can’t get frustrated uh with the with the short term. The fight from Tage early in the game, it seemed like it really sparked the crowd. Did did you expect it to maybe spark the team a little more than it did? I think it did spark us. I mean, uh, credit to him for for doing doing that. And obviously, everybody knows, uh, kind of the situation there, but, uh, um, you know, that’s not an easy thing to do, uh, for anybody to to stand up in that situation. I I played with Steph in Chicago and he’s a tough guy as well. So, um, yeah, credit credit to him, credit to um, you know, I think and I think the team did did respond. Um, I think we had a lot of energy in the first and I actually think we played good with energy throughout the game, but um, yeah, just just a frustrating frustrating outcome.
