Nov. 24: Postgame Interviews
some good stretch of play by the team for the first two periods at least and then there at the end. Just what about that third period? Yeah. Um obviously not not uh the way we wanted to start it for sure obviously and um tough to to uh go down to in third but uh yeah anything you guys could have done about the goals? I know the one was a deflection. Not much you can do there. Yeah, I mean obviously just I think there’s always things we can we can break down. Obviously we’ll look at it. um kind of we’ll go over it um tomorrow and uh make sure we we take a look and uh get dialed in. Still points out at seven out of last night. I mean, does it feel like things are building sol? Yeah, I think so. I mean, obviously, like you said, we we saw some good spurts, but um as a group, we know we got to uh bring a full 60. Um that’s it’s important in this league. A lot of good teams and um but yeah, uh I think we’re we’re trending in the right direction for sure. He didn’t play with Mayu, but you saw him just his first game back. He looked more confident than last time. Yeah, he played well. Um played great moving the puck really well. Um a lot of good shots and he had a shot there tipped for crossbar near the end. Um good to see him back and and have him back in in the blue. Tell the first couple periods. What did you like about how you guys were playing? Yeah, I mean I thought, you know, we had spurts there. We were kind of rolling them over in the in the O zone. Um you know, our cycle game was good. I think our strong side for check is, you know, it’s it’s getting a lot better and it’s allowing us to hem teams in. Um, I just think there’s moments where we are kind of, you know, mental lapses and we we need to work on that a bit, but you know, it feels like we’re coming. I feel like we, you know, we’re taking steps on this road trip. You know, we still have that belief in our room and, uh, a couple tweaks and I think we’ll get on a bit of a run here. M’s talking about extending leads. It seems like at one nothing maybe a chance or two to extend it to do. Did you feel like that? Yeah, 100%. I feel like um, you know, that’s the difference between winning games is bearing on those chances. So, you know, it’s good to get those chances, but we we got to bear down and and score. You get the four-minute power play. It seemed like some passes and some shots were passed up. Maybe could have put it on there a little more. Yeah, I mean I know easy looking back on it right now. Um, you know, in the moment it feels like, you know, sometimes there’s a better play than there is and you know, obviously we’ll we’ll watch on a video, we’ll get better and um yeah, you know, we’ll tweak it. I think uh you’re right though, you got to have more of a shot first mentality. Um yeah, can’t score if you don’t shoot, right? So um yeah, definitely got to shoot a bit more. Yeah, I know on the first goal play guy puck set it up. Take us through that one. Yeah, I mean it was a great shift by the whole line. I mean I feel like you know Ruse and Suits here were buzzing you know controlling the puck down low in battles and um you know great play up top too with Broy and Perry they had a lot of patience and um you know something we talked about that they kind of check back like if you if you walk the puck up and goes either Demo check back. So I kind of just stayed in a little bit of soft ice and you know Broby made a great read pass it over and I was lucky enough to go in. thing as Colton points in seven last night. Does it feel like things just starting to come together? Yeah, for sure. I mean, I feel like definitely um but I think we got a ways to go too. So, uh we know that in this room and you know, we expect a lot out of uh our team, each other, and uh there’s definitely another level we can get to, but we’re in the right direction right now. The first two periods, what you like about those first two? Uh to be honest, I didn’t think we were humming in the first two. Um I didn’t think we played with the requisite of intensity. and connectedness and puck support that we’ve been playing with the three previous games. You had the one nothing lead. You felt like you could have extended it a couple times. Yeah, we had opportunities to extend it. Not as many as we’ve had. Um, you know, and Hove played really well to maintain that one- nothing lead and you get the format power seemed like there were some shots that were passed up. He had a couple of shots that were passed up and there was, you know, we we we whiffed on a great chance to tie the game up right the net front um in the pulled goalie situation which you know we need to start making some of those plays in those areas so that we can you know have wins where we come from behind and kind of get on a streak. We’ve seen the first 10 minutes of the third get to two goals done. Um win more battles. Um make sure we’re the way out for our um teammates in from the Dzone. I thought May was very assertive. Um I liked him on the PP at the end there when we gave him an opportunity. I thought he was very uh aggressive and with a good uh shot first mindset, but made some passes. um you know the minus two I know the second goal he had nothing to do with it right and then the first one was extended shift yeah it is an extended shift you know um and that’s why in the second period there tends to be more goals uh scored in the league because it’s hard to get your changes in the second and the five guys got to help each other get their changes forwards always get off the ice Dmen don’t um you know because they got to stay um then the next guys that come out they got to make sure they’re protecting good ice and that they’re helping out the D so they can get off the ice.
