Jerry Jones Lied About Quinnen Williams For Micah Parsons Trade | New York Jets News
What is going on, Jet fans? Matt Ori back with another video. Today, I want to talk about a quote that I saw from Jerry Jones this past weekend. Uh well, or on yesterday. It’s still the weekend. I don’t know. All the all the days are blurring together with the extended weekend. But moral of moral of the story, Jerry Jones had a quote about Quinnon Williams that kind of riled up Jets Twitter. All right, I wanted to put the rumors to bed because Jerry Jones shockingly very much so stretched the truth when talking about Quinnon Williams. I’d almost go as far to say that he lied about the trade. So, here’s what he had to say when talking about Quinnon Williams and trading for him. On his weekly radio spot yesterday, Jerry Jones said that he liked Quinnon Williams so much that he offered the Jets a firstround pick and Micah Parsons for Quinn Williams before the start of the season. That’s not what happened. If that is what happened, well, Micah Parsons would be a New York Jet right now. That’s not the case because before the beginning of the season, he told ESPN New York months ago that he was looking for picks plus Quinn and Williams from the Jets. And the Jets answered by saying they didn’t have the resources to entertain the conversation, which at the time is is true. Yes. after the fact due to the Sgardner and Quinn and Williams trade they were able to land five first round picks over the next two years but they didn’t have that before Micah Parsons was traded to the Green Bay Packers they only had the one first round pick going into this year and if they only had the one pick could you imagine if the Jets traded a first round pick before this year and they’re sitting at 0 and7 and you’re sweating this out right because I I don’t think Micah Parsons a a non-quarterback is going to elevate your team to win what an extra three or four games even if they went into the buy sitting at what three and four you’re going man I don’t feel great about this uh this team with their chances of finding out finding their next franchise quarterback now I guess if you do the sauce gardener trade still after the fact you could get a first round pick but it wouldn’t be your own right you’ be gift wrapping the Dallas Cowboys is a top 10 pick and Quinnon Williams for Micah Parsons, which again, I’m not saying that I wouldn’t like Micah Parsons on the Jets. He’s one of the best pass rushers in the NFL, of course. But it’s just a disingenuous conversation from Jerry Jones because that was never the case. He wasn’t offering Micah plus a first round pick on his side. No, no, he wanted Quinnon Williams plus first round picks from the Jets, which is two very different things. Two very, very different things. And look, I get it. Quinnon Williams has been really good since going to Dallas. No one should be surprised by this. He is a very good football player. He’s he was playing on a team in the in the with the Jets that wasn’t very good defensively this year. And he was getting double and triple teamed and the pass rush stats weren’t there with the Jets. But go figure, he goes to a team that’s scoring points and has leads in games, which allows him to pin his ears back and rush the passer in obvious passing situations. And wouldn’t you know it, the sack numbers are up. The pressure numbers are up. And look, like I know we all wanted him to be a double-digit sack guy every single year, but I still and I know he’s not here anymore, so I have no, you know, reason to just like defend the guy because he’s a Jet. That’s not what I’m doing. I just think that, you know, Quinnon Williams when he was actually here was very misunderstood by a large portion of the fan base who’s who called him overrated. I don’t think Quinnon Williams or S Gardner too for that matter could possibly be overrated based on the returns that they were able to get for both those guys. If Sauce Gardner and Quinton Williams actually stunk and weren’t good football players, they wouldn’t have netted a second round pick and a first round pick back. They wouldn’t have netted multiple first round picks uh picks and AD Mitchell coming back in return, but they’re good football players, top five players at their positions. Now, for like a player like Sauce, and I know we’re going slightly off off topic here, you know, was he this year at his peak powers that we saw in 22 and 23? No. At that point, he was a number one or at worst number two corner behind Pat Certan. But I think, you know, with how he’s played this year, looking like a top five to 10. I would maybe go five to 10 for Sus Gardner, which is fair. But for Quinnon, I mean, he’s been a top five interior defensive lineman in the NFL for half a decade. All right, my sleeper picks for this week. I have John Mechy, more than 39 and a half receiving yards. Bree Hall, more than two and a half receptions, and Bejian Robinson withund more than 113.5 rushing and receiving yards. Use my promo code and you’ll get up to a $100 match on your first deposit. New offer, free $20, no deposit required promo. Terms and conditions apply. Would Micah Parsons have been awesome on the Jets? Of course. That’s that’s a no-brainer. Do I still think the Jets did well in this trade specifically for Quinn Williams fetching a second round pick in 2026 and a first round pick in 2027, which by the way isn’t just any old first round pick. It’s the higher of the two first round picks, either the Dallas pick or the Green Bay Packers pick. Yes, I think both things could be true at the same time. While in this dreamland scenario that Jerry Jones cooked up in his head, that isn’t actually true to begin with, but on the what the reality was that they actually got on their return a second and a first. You did really well for for a player in Quinnon Williams who made it known that he he wanted a new contract. And you know, it just it ran its course with the Jets. He was on a ton of losing teams since he was drafted in 2019. Was a leader, a good player on this team. I think you should have nothing but good things to say about Quinnon Williams’s Jeff fans. And you know, good for him. He goes back with Aaron White Cotton, a player or defensive uh line coach that he as a player had a lot of success under. And I’m not surprised that it’s working. I’m really not. He’s a very good football player. But let’s not actually put any value into what Jerry Jones said yesterday because it’s that’s not that’s simply just not how it happened. Jerry lied?! Shocking!
I do recall that the Dallas offer wasn't worth considering in the summer when it came out. Weird how people write down things that happen.
Bad reporting on this is causing some confusion. I read a Bleacher Report article yesterday that said Jerry would give Micah and a 1st for Quinnen, but then later in the same article quoted Jones as requesting a pick and Quinnen for Micah. The article has since been updated 😆
You never know where your QB will come from. Who would have thought Tom Brady, a sixth round pick, would go to more SBs than any other QB? Brock Purdy, the last selection the year he was drafted, would become a starting QB for an NFL team? Who would have thought Kurt Warner, went to a small college, wasn't even drafted then would become a two time MVP winner? Fran Tarkington who most thought was too small to be an NFL QB would be in the NFL HOF?
Both things can be true bud.
The man has Alzheimer's. It wasn't a lie; he absolutely believes that is the truth even when it clearly isn't. It's Joe Biden Syndrome.
Matt, I smell bullshit, there is no way we wouldn't have snapped this up.
Q was massively overrated here, while he was here we were soft on the run and little pass rush. The down side of missing him and Sauce is negligible.
You also had to pay Micah to that big contract, not worth it
Weeeelllll the picks we got for J Adams…..
Jones is just like the orange clown, have to balloon the numbers… he’s the ole grey clown of the NFL
Texas bull shirt
I believe Jerry
Anyone who thinks Quinnen was overrated has no idea what they are talking about. Ask any offensive coordinator, they will tell you their biggest concern when playing the Jets was the damage Quinnen could inflict. Jerry Jones is either a revisionist historian or was intoxicated when he made that remark.
I know this was a long season so far, but do we not remember when the Jets offense had over 20, sometimes even 30 pts in a game at the beginning of the season defense with Quinnen and Sauce but couldn't close the games? Didn't the GM try to find DT's to help Quinnen? Tampa Bay, Jets finally take the lead and then what?? No ears pinned back then. It's crazy how the defense look better now with some new additions then the start of the season
Why is no calling Jerry out for TAMPERING! This was clear tampering on his part – and it worked. He got his message out there to Williams that he wanted him and now Williams is a Cowboy.
