Really is crazy how hard JC Jackson fell off after he went to LA. I know most of our big defensive FA departures got worse, but he went from second team all pro to getting benched within a year.
Some teams get lucky with that kind of stuff. Look at the Steelers and their years of elite WRs
Itâs a blessing getting these all pro corners, too bad itâs the complete opposite at receiver though
True but this doesnât show the 4-5 incredibly lean years between Samuel leaving and trading for Talib where we had hot garbage at CB and secondary generally, leading to some awful pass defenses which is a key reason why we didnât win a SB during that whole stretch. And the NFL changed a ton to be much more pass heavy and rules evolved to benefit offenses more and more around and just before that time. Crazy how long it took for Belichick to realize they needed to go get a top tier corner and make sure they had one (or more) every season and that really fueled the second half of the dynasty.
Gotta thank Bill for that as much as our fans donât want to
Shit show at UNC, but that doesnât change history
Not too shabbyÂ
DBs are what we do best.
Also GOAT QBs. But thatâs a different story đ
The Patriots are blessed with the âgood cornerâ and âgood running backâ gene and cursed with the wide receiver gene.
Couldn’t even fit Mike Haynes in there. Should’ve used the one with Korra instead
We did #not develop Revis or Talib. Can barely claim Gilmore either
Look I realize that Samuel was really good in reality but I just canât emotionally forgive him for not catching that interception to seal the SB win
People were fucking FURIOUS about Gilmore his first year here. Then the team figured out how best to use him, things turned around, and he became a Pats legend.
Mike Haynes missing from this list on a Patriots subreddit is borderline criminal
That second team all pro JC Jackson was wild
Gonzo’s good, but dude, he’s not even in the top 5.
Ok but what happened between Asante Samuel and Aqib Talib
I donât see Terrence Wheatley and Darius Butler and Sterling Moore and Kyle Arrington on here
We had some really bad corner play for bit in the early 10s. Edelman didn’t play corner in 2011 because he was a really good corner.. Then after trading for Talib it seems like Bill really focused on always having a real good corner and never let that go
It still baffles me how Gonzo was only the third CB off the board in the 2023 draft.
Especially considering that Emmanuel Forbes was picked by the Commanders one pick before.
Forbes isn’t even on the Commanders roster anymore!
The time between Asante and Talib was *rough* though.
