Dylan Larkin, Moritz Seider, Todd McLellan Post Game Comments @ BOS | Nov. 29, 2025

How important was it to suggest to get a point? Yeah, very important. I thought u to get a point. We would have liked that too, especially with the uh four on three in overtime, but uh you know what we battled and uh stood up for each other, stood up for ourselves and um thought it was a right there. You know, it was a good battle game and I think a good game for us to maybe uh, you know, come together and show our ourselves that we can play in different ways and and uh when we’re not feeling well offensively, we can still tighten down the uh, you know, the play good defensively. Just the physicality of all, I mean, how much does that help with engagement when it’s a game like this? Yeah, it’s it’s uh really important and um you know, they have some some guys that are big hitters and um you know, I think uh for some of our younger players, we can protect ourselves a little better and and um interfere a little more with with guys running around, but that’s just learning the league and and knowing who you’re out there against. And um you know, it’s just it’s important that we stuck together and and uh you know, great for Mo to stick up for himself. and that’s a tough customer he took on and and u you know he did did did really well. I was going to say you don’t want to lose 4 minutes 5 minutes but it was an important fight and I think built momentum going into the second period. Yeah. And then, you know, we took a penalty and and they they gained momentum off their power play. And uh but I think overall to for for everyone in our room to see that uh for him to stand up for himself, that was that was most important and and uh you know, good good on him. Did you like that the team speak right away again? I mean, when it’s been a game like this with so much emotion, it’s it’s always a division game and and uh both teams didn’t like the way they played the night before and uh yeah, you you you know, with with their lineup uh you know, I think we can stay a little more focused and and uh you know, I expect it to be a good game again at at home on on Tuesday. Dan, what do you think just about the power play and what you guys maybe need to do to to kind of break through there? I mean, we got the personnel to do it and uh just got to play hockey. I think we’re we’re forcing shots when we’re not at the net. We’re we’re uh you know, I can’t win a face off. So, I think I guess it starts there with with winning faceoffs on the power play and um you know, and then and then just playing and and we all all five of us out there have good hockey instincts and um just get moving, move the box, shift them and and uh you know, and then and then attack where where they’re vulnerable. How much emotional engagement you guys get out of a game like this? Um, a lot. I think it was a very big matchup for us. We’re we’re in a little bit of a um slump. Um, but I thought it was a great effort tonight. Um, really stayed in uh in the fight the whole night. Always had an answer ready. Um, and I think if we look back it will be a huge point that uh we got out of the game. Just talk about your fight though. Was a great guy for you to handle. Uh, yeah, obviously very tough guy, but I think we just need a little bit of a spark. Um I think we sometimes get pushed around a little bit and um sometimes you just need to answer. It doesn’t doesn’t matter the outcome. Just got to um show a face and be ready for it. First point in a week. I know you wanted two, but you came back twice uh in in regulation to tie the game, including with two minutes to go. I mean, how huge was that things been going? Yeah, big time. I think that just shows character um that we never never quit in this locker room even though we’re behind and um I mean obviously everyone knows they’re kind of playing a very passive system where we got the puck a lot and um kind of have to fight your way into the zone but I think we had a really good game plan really stuck to our structure um and then capitalize on the chances we got. Do you like the idea of playing them the games coming again already on Tuesday? Yeah, it’s it’s going to be a great challenge for us. Um, it’s got to treat it like a little bit of a miniseries and we just got to have the uh the better outcome at the uh end of the season. Thanks, man. Thank you. I know the point was important and you would have liked to, but how important was the emotional game tonight? I think it was really important for our team. Um, tough uh tough game to play. I think for both teams there’s a lot of tight checking, not a lot of loose ice. Uh heavy game um at times frustrating for both teams. Uh, but you know, for us to find our game as the night went on was a was a real positive sign. A little disappointed in some of the special teams. Obviously, power play, penalty kill, and shootout. We were on the short end of it. Um, and you can’t, you know, you can’t lose all three and we did tonight. So, that’s probably why we gave up a point. But, um, had some good efforts from from some players. Um, and we’re going to need more of it. rallying from Choice being down one goal after the way things had been going. That showed nice fight within your team as well. It did. Um, you know, they have that in them. Um, I I thought we got through the neutral zone a little bit better and established a for check in the second half of the game that we didn’t have early in the game. And that gave us a little more confidence that they they really block a lot of shots. I think they led led the league in u block shots per 60 coming into the game. You can see why they uh they got in shooting lanes. We’re a little too fine sometimes. We really want to slow things down and pick a spot. Sometimes you got to speed them up and just get the shot off. Um did that a little bit more later too. What did you see on the power plays including the one in OT? Um a little bit of stubbornness again. Uh we spent a lot of time discussing and practicing simplicity. um feeding stuff towards the net and um I didn’t think we we we went to that. Uh it’s okay to make a play and and work the puck around, but again, I think we we start with an attack mentality and we went away from that. Uh the the four on three in in overtime. Uh we had a couple guys teeing up one-times, but we missed the net on on a couple of them. When you do that, usually you’re chasing the puck back to your end because you you rim it out. So that that caused us some problems, too. I know you don’t want to lose your top defenseman for 5 minutes or even six, I think it was. All all in all, but the tone he set with that, the response he showed. Yeah, you know, we didn’t want to lose uh we don’t want to lose anybody, but but losing Mo, but uh it’s good for Mo, good for our team to to stand our ground, and um he did a real good job.

  1. the reason this team keeps wiping out rosters/coaches and failing is because they're trying to build on a weak foundation.  strip that clown Larkin of the C and start a proper rebuild

  2. Boy the wheels have come off early this season. Earlier than us "none fans" predicted. That was one of the worst NHL games I've ever watched. Both teams looked like trash. And of course the Wings lost to a team of mostly 3rd/4th liners and AHL guys. PK is starting to struggle again now too. Yzerbots will still say everything is fine haha.

  3. ASP needs to put on some muscle during the offseason. That alone will go a long way towards his development. Good to see him take it on the chin and fight through the physicality though.

  4. The front office of this team is a complete and utter failure. I believe the players are truly giving their best and Todd is doing an admirable job. The best they have is 3 2nd line forwards and one D pair. Will miss the playoffs again with no hope in sight. Yzerman and all of his former teammates in the front office NEED TO GO!!!!!

  5. So your not going to put a good team on the ice and your not going to put a tough team on the ice so why do I even watch? Only diehard fans are putting up with it and unfortunately I'm one of them. Such a sad time to be a Red Wings fan, fans deserve a better product..

  6. This team challenges your fandom . They’re feckless. Until we get a real two way forward with size and a real blue line just gonna be a middling to bottom tier franchise. Todd’s gotta be wondering wtf he got himself into

  7. So close, but that only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades! Smarten up the defense and do something about the goaltending. For the love of God!

  8. We had a 5 game winning streak in the beginning of the season and all 5 of those wins were against playoff teams. So we have what it takes, but nothing to show for it.

  9. How a 4th line goon can just attack the Wings best player and force him to fight without getting at least an instigator penalty is baffling to me. NHL refereeing is an absolute joke.

  10. I was really hoping Hamonic or Chiarot would fight Kastelic, I want blood, they should have been finishing every check, crashing the crease and plowing into Swayman, cheap shotting their best players. Bruins haven't changed and are still one of the dirtiest team in the league.

The Wings have been too soft for too long, even when they were good they were pretty soft and small, I don't like losing but I can tolerate it, the lack of response just maddening though. I would love if they became a tough team like Anaheim back in the day, hockey sure has changed a lot when a goon like Kastelic can do that to a teams star player and get away with it.

  11. Kane at even strength is a liability. Everyone talks about the lack of depth from the defensemen (and rightly so), but nobody wants to criticize the defense from the forwards.

  12. Love the red wings, but this team doesn’t have what it takes. Nice guys, they say the right stuff, but when the rubber meets the road, they come up short.

  13. Emmitt Finnie being put out with DeBrincat in OT while Kane sat on the bench, after Kane had just made an amazing play to get them to OT, is why this team is where it is. And why this coach is what he is. And has never won. And will never win.

  14. Watched are toughest player get knocked out and we didn’t do shit. This teams a fucking joke Yzerman needs to fucking goo and illitch needs to sell the fucking team he’s to fucking cheap.

  15. Can somebody get HarrisMcgovern out of here the level of Kane Glazing is atrocious. Don’t get me wrong I love Kane but his level of Glazing is absurd

  16. Don't know what Yzerman is thinking with the roster. We have like 4 guys who are consistently physical. All great NHL teams have a lot of talented players and tough guys….and great goaltending. We had guys like McCarty and Shanahan who would fight at the drop of a hat and if anybody messed with Yzerman the whole team would be up in arms over it.

The roster did not improve enough in the off-season to expect a playoff team all a sudden. Stevie needs to hire a few Russians!

  17. I won't be renewing my Fanduel Subscription to watch the games next month. Tired of overpaying only to see my favorite team get bullied more often than not.

We're on our third coach. It's not a coaching issue, it's a roster issue. Point blank the roster just did not improve enough from last year.

  18. I swear I heard something earlier maybe even before season started that regardless of playoffs or no playoffs Steve will be moving on to team president and a new GM will be hired. If true sounds like the most Detroit sports franchise move ever. Especially a Chris Illitch ran one

  19. Yzerman is going to get one of his top two D men knocked out hurt bad with a concussion by not going out and getting a D man like Arbur X type that can fight and clear out the net. You don’t want Seider fighting.

    Get a clue Yzerman!!

  20. Absolutely 100%. Enough of this bullying around bullsh*t. Wings are gonna need to crack some heads and take an initiative to not take the bullying crap anymore from opponents like the Bruins, Panthers, you name it….. Now why can't they play like this game against Boston every game? It's time to put their big boy pants on and be aggressive and stop letting up. This is their job, so they need to do it like their lives depend on it. If there are Wings who don't want to play to their expectations, they'll need to seriously consider hanging up their skates now. No more playing for the rest of the season like sissies. They need to attack every chance they get….
