Atlanta Falcons vs New York Jets PREVIEW | Week 13 2025

All right, guys. What’s going on? Welcome in. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving holiday. We have the Jets Falcons game this Sunday, 1:00. I’m just going to come right out with it. I think the Jet This is a winnable game for the Jets. I think this is winnable, right? It’s in Metife Stadium. It feels like the Jets right now are just they feel like a better version of themselves compared to, you know, week two, week four, uh, week six. It seems like we have more answers today than we did a month, month and a half ago here. And with six games remaining, I feel like the Jets could steal a couple. I’m not talking about five and one, 6 and 0 down the stretch here or anything, but maybe two, maybe three. Could could we be 500 to end the uh to end the year? That I think would instill a lot of confidence in um you know Jets fans, right? Football fans in general, right? If we can go three and three down the stretch, we play some great teams, we play some not so great teams. We’ll see what happens, but it starts this Sunday against Atlanta. Now, ironically enough, the quarterback that the Falcons are rolling out, Kurt Cousins, has been linked to a lot of reports. Uh multiple reporters are talking about it. Rich Shamini most recently uh was talking about the potentially uh the potential of the Jets looking to acquire Cousins this off season. Whether you like the idea or you don’t like the idea, the Jets literally have a firsthand look this Sunday, right? They are going to be watching Cousins. He obviously played last uh week against the Saints. I thought it was just kind of a, you know, run-of-the-mill performance. Had a turnover, had a really nice touchdown pass down the field. Uh not bad, right? But definitely not great. Not a lead or anything. How will Cousins look against this Jets defense here on the road? I I think something that’s it’s imperative, right? It is very very very important to talk about specifically pertaining to this game pass rush. How is the Jets pass rush going to affect Cousins? Is the pass rush going to affect Kirk Cousins? There’s games where the Jets just simply cannot get after the passer and it drives me absolutely insane. Right. We’re see, and it’s no disrespect, but we’re seeing a lot of snaps given to Brady McGregor, Michael Clemens, Tyler Barum. There’s a lot of rotation in there. I mean, there’s really only so much that Glenn and Wilks can do given the depth, given the talent level at that position, which is why I think Edge needs to be one of the biggest priorities this off season, whether you want to target in the draft or in free agency. you know, maybe go after that like third solid rotational option that can come in and you’re essentially bumping Clemens down or you’re going after, you know, a big home run type of swing in the first round, whether it’s with that top 10 selection or with that Colts first round pick where now that guy becomes the starter and then Will McDonald or Germaine Johnson becomes, you know, becomes the the sub in rotational guy. And I I I think a quick little side tangent, I I don’t really want to look too much into, okay, well, who’s the on paper starter when it comes to adding a third edge simply because the Jets rotate a lot. You know, again, think about how many times you see Michael Clemens playing, h how many snaps you see Brady McGregor out there for. Like, these guys are really getting in the game a lot. And same could be said for defensive tackles. So, who’s the technical starter who’s lining up on first and 10, I really think is irrelevant. If Will McDonald is getting virtually the same amount of snaps, but you are putting McDonald in positions where, you know, you’re really maximizing his snaps, you’re maximizing his strengths, I really don’t have an issue with going after that home run. Not saying that there’s this type of player, you know, this this caliber of player in the draft, but if you want to go get the Jets version of Joey Bosa, former third pick, Nick Bosa, second overall pick, um Aiden Hudson, right? Aaron Glenn with Detroit, I’m completely completely fine doing that. But again, to bring it back to the preview here, you look at the Atlanta Falcons offensive line, they are pretty good. They don’t allow a lot of sacks. They’re actually top 10 in sack percentage with that offensive line. It’s a solid, sturdy unit. And the Jets again at times have been completely non-existent with rushing the passer. You kind of feel like the Jets sacks, they come in waves. They’re like, you know, think about the Cleveland Browns game, right? Quincy had a sack, Germaine had a sack, Will McDonald had four sacks in that game. And then we follow it up New England Patriots and it’s it’s like impossible to get into the backfield unless it’s like Drake May holding on to the football forever. So I think with an older immobile, some would say statue level of quarterback and Kurt Cousins, you know, pure pocket passer here, you have to affect him. You must get into the backfield. If you can’t, if you can’t, you’re really going to be putting pressure on your quarterback room that I’m going to assume is going to be playing a lot of man coverage. Now, if I had to take a guess on how the Falcons are going to attack this game, attack this Jets defense, I think they’re really going to focus in on Bejon Robinson running the football, throwing the football, right? You look at the third down numbers, they are literally one of the worst teams on third down. How do you get better in that department? You get into third and shorts. How do you get into third and shorts? you a run the ball and b you target the best player, the best skill position on the offense probability wise, you’re picking up again in theory the most yardage possible on first and second down. Atlanta’s best skill player is their running back here in Robinson who they can also throw the football to. Also, if the Falcons are backed up, they’re in third and longs, you’re putting the again immobile Kirk Cousins in obvious obvious passing situations where the Jets can just tee off, right? We’ve seen Will Seols like to blitz a lot, sending these linebackers in. Quincy Williams has really made a big impact, making plays up close to the line of scrimmage, making plays in the box, and of course rushing the passer. Even if he’s not getting home and bringing down a sack, just being that violent, aggressive force in the back field. Uh you can tell that it kind of messes with quarterbacks. And again, Cousins just doesn’t and it’s nothing against Cousins. He seems like the like one of the nicest guys out there. But when it comes to him outrunning an edge rusher, him outrunning, you know, a player like Quincy, I just I’m going to take the other player. I’m going to take the defense, right? When it comes to that sort of stuff, maybe not early on in Cousin’s career back in Washington when he would pull it on a read option going back to Michigan State, but now I just post Achilles surgery, I just don’t really feel like Cousins is going to be extending all that much. You can roll him out on bootlegs and the Jets have to be weary of it. But I think at the end of the day, the Falcons will try to again feed Bejan Robinson, run the ball, try to get in third and shorts to really ultimately secure a win on the road, right? Field position, protect the quarterback. I just have a tough time seeing Cousins and this Falcons offense, this Falcons team, right? It’s a dome team. They just played a dome team in New Orleans, right? In the Superdome. Coming up to to Metife Stadium, you know, it’s going to be cold. I just don’t see Cousins throwing the ball all around. 45 passing attempts or or something like that. By the way, Drake London is doubtful for the game. So, I really think that the emphasis is going to be on running the football and controlling the clock. Really trying to get into those third and shorts for Atlanta. Now, offensively for the Jets going up against this Falcons defense. For me, the name of the game is still feed the young players, right? I understand that the Falcons uh safety play has been great. Jesse Bates, one of my all-time favorites. Xavier Watts, one of my favorite safeties in this uh draft class who’s doing great great things at free safety. Speaking of the draft, right, you look at Atlanta’s, they just stockpile talent on the defensive side. Billy Bowman, round four, right, out of Oklahoma, another one of my favorite uh safety prospects. You have James Pierce off the edge, such a unique body type. He’s a cool player to root for. Um just he doesn’t look like any any other edge rusher in the NFL. just such a just such a interesting case study when you look at Pierce. I mean, he really flashes. And then of course, Jaylen Walker, who’s been one of the best defensive rookies in the NFL. Again, offensively for me, the game plan isn’t really shifting all that much week to week. you know, of course the specifics, the nuances, the the play call installs and stuff, obviously that stuff would uh would, but but you know, as far as like not targeting Mechie, not targeting Mitchell and feeding Josh Reynolds this week or Jeremy Rucker this week, I I I I think it’s going to be pretty much the same every single Sunday, which is get the young players as much experience as possible. again, Adonai Mitchell, John Mechy, Mason Taylor, Aryan Smith. Of course, I’m going to continue to feed Bree Hall because he is the focal point of the offense. And hopefully Tyron Taylor will not be ultraaggressive down the field because these ball hawking safeties. They will pick off the ball. They will intercept the quarterback like we’ve seen incredible plays, incredible game-saving, game-winning interceptions made by these safeties. So, if we start, you know, think about like when Tyrod uh played Tampa, getting too greedy on that two-minute drive, launching the ball across the field, that doesn’t really feel like Taylor’s game, but we saw a more traditional Tyrod Taylor this past week against Baltimore. I I think if we can get that type of performance, right, just a steady 200 plus passing yard day with no INTs, with a lot of completions, just efficient quarterback play, and we’re again, we’re feeding the young guys, we’re feeding Breeze. I really don’t have much complaints. There’s really only so much you can do, especially with no Garrett Wilson, you know. So, anyway, let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. And by the way, I understand that we only have two wins, but I am looking forward to these games every single Sunday. You know, I I just look at them like learning opportunities. Um, and I understand it’s regular season, but again, just the Jets being a two- win team, understanding where we’re at, understanding the context, understanding it’s year one of the rebuild, um, like I especially compared to recent years, like my overall enjoyment level, even if the Jets are losing, it’s still it’s still up there, right? I I just love watching the young guys getting better week to week and just having opportunities to grow because it’s not just like Matchi had four catches, Matchi had five catches and a touchdown, great, and we move on. It’s rep after rep after rep after rep. It’s target after target. It’s catch after catch. If they have a touchdown, great. You’re not only just building that experience up, but once the game ends and you hit, you know, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and you’re starting to rewatch film, you’re getting with the offensive coaches, they’re pointing things out. They’re seeing things from their end, what works, what doesn’t, how they maybe attack a certain archetype of corner. And and we’re just using wide receiver as an example here because those are the two young exciting guys that the Jets added at the deadline. Um, again in John and AD here, you’re just building up more knowledge. You’re becoming more battle tested, if you will, right? So, you’re not wideeyed next season in the event that these guys are, you know, playing and contributing, which I do believe they both will. Mitchell, of course, on his rookie deal. John Mete restricted free agent. I definitely foresee him coming back. Um, but you’re just learning so much. learning so much from a coaching standpoint, from an offensive standpoint, from a player standpoint, from a personal standpoint from these players. So, in my per, you know, one of my favorite things about football, really sports in general, baseball, basketball, team building, kind of the grind of being, you know, on the bottom and trying to build the thing up, you know, this is how you do it. You acquire extra draft picks, you build through the draft, that is sustainable. Like if you ask a fan that you see out and about and you just say, “Hey, uh, realistically speaking, what can I what do you want your team to have?” You you could have $80 million in cap space. You can guarantee that you sign the the biggest free agent uh on the market, or I can give you, you know, extra first round picks over the next couple of seasons. Most fans would say, “Give me the first round picks. Give me, you know, three first, four first.” The Jets have five first over the next two years and three seconds over the next two years. So, I love the build here. I I love the build. And this Sunday, again, another opportunity. So, anyway, let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. Thanks so much for watching and as always, go Jets.

  1. Definitely a winnable game; I see us sacking Kirk a bunch of times but I also see ATL rushing for 200 yards with Bijan/ Allgeier may be the most underrated #2 back in the entire NFL. Hopefully it’s a good competitive game and I’m expecting the typical sloppy MetLife home game where the jets have a chance and lost lively blow it.

  2. Bears are 9-3. The only difference with the Bears and us is they just have more talent and a franchise QB. Ben Johnson did the same thing Glenn did by going for a 4th down on their 40 but Bears executed. coaching/development is a shared priority even if outcomes differ. We just need talent in the building!

  3. You really hate the idea of the Jets finishing high in the draft. More high draft picks are better than less. 5-12 is no better than 2-15. Both records are garbage, losing records. At least 2-15 nets us higher in the draft. Logic is just a bit beyond the fandom apparently. Y'all want to make decisions on emotions rather than thinking long term.

  4. Jets never play well at home against at Atlanta😂

I’m pulling for the top pick.. but don’t blame others for rooting for wins.

That said, my preference is to trade down from a top 3 spot.. accumulate more picks.. if they pick a QB along the way so be it. But don’t force it.

  5. Plus it’s going to be rainy and 36-40 degrees outside. Jets have the advantage. Falcons play inside. I’m betting the jets get a W in this one
