Cassidy on How San Jose Has Improved | Sharks @ Golden Knights Post-Game (11.29.25)

Bang. San Jose hockey. Now, Bruce, you’ve seen San Jose twice this year. Um, just wondering, you know, these games are seem closer than past years in terms of just the shots, the shot counter, and so I wonder how you see the Sharks and how they’ve improved structurally. Well, I don’t want to go back in time to other, but I’ll talk about the the the current regime there. I think they value keeping the puck out of their net a lot. I I know Ryan a little bit. I used to coach his brother and so I’ve met him a few times over the years and I believe he’s really invested in that type of play. I also believe he knows that the the offensive guys need breathing room. Um he’s allowed the young players to still play to their strengths, but I think he’s trying to hold his team accountable to a standard where, you know, it’s not going to be 40 shots every night. We’re not going to just trade chances and hope we’re the better team that way. So that’s what I saw up there. They made it tough on us. We didn’t generate much. second game of the year. We got a little bit fortunate. If you remember the high flip and then the overtime. So, um, tonight it we opened it up a bit in the second. We’re able to extend the lead. They came right back. Maybe in years past it maybe their mentality as well. It’s not our night. I I you know, they’re certainly resilient tonight and it shows in their last month and their standings, right? They’re right in it. They’re in the thick of it. So, obviously they’re doing uh there’s some growth there. Is that just players having another year in the league? Or is it the fact that they’re defending a little bit better and they’re, you know, keeping themselves in games to give themselves a chance to win? And that’s what happened tonight. They kind of, you know, look like we might get get away from them and they stay in the game and score a couple goals. Now you’re in the third period, one shot here, you’re get points, right? So that’s what I see. Uh it’s only been a couple times, but we see them in pre-couts here or there, too. And they seem to, you know, have a little confidence in that. And winning will do that. It does. Let’s face it, when you win and you you win some close games, you start thinking, well, okay, we can do this. We’re down a go. We’re fine against good teams. And so that’s what’ll probably taking those
