Bulls nation hope you are staying warm wherever you are. Uh to help you deal with that cold bitter L that we all just watched. Uh I’m PC bulls that big day bwl sports will the godly will godly and behind the controls the one and only s bear helping us out. Um, that was a tough one to watch. I felt like this is a game the Bulls needed to win. It’s, you know, it’s hard to call any game a must-win this early on in the season, but when you are coming off of two L’s to those teams like the Pelicans and the Hornets, including getting three days off in between those two bad L’s. I know it’s the second night of a backtoback. I know you’re short-handed. It was also the second night of a backtoback for the Pacers. The Pacers are also short-handed. I don’t want to hear any excuses after this L tonight. And it looked for a second like the Bulls were going to establish tonight at least that they were the better team, gentlemen. They went up 9790 with just under five minutes to go in the fourth on a couple of little, you know, short um mid-range flip shots from Herder and then Vu. 9790, a seven-point lead, under five to go. Then the Bulls offense, the wheels kind of fell off for a few minutes there. the the Pacers hit a couple of big shots after they couldn’t hit anything for most of the fourth quarter and now you’re in a onep possession back and forth battle for the final couple of minutes and the Pacers had the ball last on a tie game. Credit to Trey Jones and honestly credit to Billy for that out-of- bounds play design he drew up. That was beautiful. It worked perfectly. But the one downside there, instead of trying to draw up yourself, you know, a three-point shot, a good look at one for the win and no time left on the clock, you got the tie, you give the Patriers the ball back for the final shot. Pascal Seakum, to his credit, hits a really difficult shot. You know, a tough baseline jumper over the outstretched arms of Modis Mousellis, who did his best to contain him on that final possession. And and that’s the way the cookie crumbled on that one, Dave. Yeah. And crumble. It did. Um that just bad. I mean for the last four games you played the Wizards, the Pelicans, the Hornets, and the Pacers. And you’re one and three against those teams. And the one game you won was the Wizards, which you had to win at the end. Like you had to win on a buzzer beater. So you could easily be 0 and4 in a stretch where you were looking at it like they might be six and one. can go could go six and one uh in this and all of these L’s have been on the road uh which also for me says kind of something about you know what I’m saying that toughness that because you got to be a little tougher you know to win on the road but regardless of all that it’s the Pelicans the Hornets and the Pacers and you just said it Matt I don’t want to hear nothing about full strength it’s the Pelican Hornets and Pacers I don’t want to hear nothing about you. Oh man, they just didn’t have that tonight. It’s the Pelicans, Hornets, and Pacers. Come on. Like, these are the teams at the bottom of the bottom. Like, not just hanging out in the middle where the Bulls, you know, enjoy living. The bottom of the bottom, the worst of the worst. And you just lost to them. And then the first game against the Pelicans, you got ran out, gave up 143. Then you give up 123 to the Hornets. Now to your credit, you gave up 103 to the Pacers tonight, but they still scored. Yeah, congratulations. But you still gave up over 60 points in in the first half. So you still, you know, were trash out there tonight when it came to that. And I’m glad you mentioned Trey Jones. I mean, just he’s just been phenomenal for the Bulls. Like where where would they be without him? And I think that honestly he’s turning in to one of their best defensive players, if not their best defensive player. Like even though he didn’t really have it as far as uh the steals are concerned tonight, just the effort that he had and the agitation that he had um and getting in God’s way and just knowing where to be, you know, as far as the defense was concerned and just hitting some huge buckets, seven to nine uh from the field. I thought Josh Giddy also played a real gritty uh gutsy game for him tonight with that 17 points and the 11 rebounds and the uh seven assists. But man, and you know who I’m going to get into later. You already know who I’m about to lay into later on. So, you just wait for that. But Modus Misellis, I like the fact that even though the shot wasn’t there, he had 11 rebounds. I do like that aspect of it. And he had uh three blocks tonight. You know, I love the blocks. So, I like that he showed himself there. Um, but eight points and three of nine shooting is not going to cut it for me. I thought the Bulls were also bad at the free throw line uh as well. 56% from the free throw line is just never good. But yeah, man, it was it’s for me. I can point directly to that free throw uh line discrepancy as to why they lost, but again, it’s the Pacers. you should shoot 56% from the free throw line and still be able to beat this team. Like there’s no excuse other than you just being bad. So the Bulls were bad and they’ve been bad and sadly are continuing to be bad. No, I I think you’re absolutely right. And you look at like the four factors from this game, everything was basically even. It was, you know, 103 offensive rating for the Bulls, 104 for the Pacers. Like that’s it’s a close game. Um turnovers were roughly the same. The Bulls had 13 of them. Pacers had 12. Offensive rebounds, seven for Indiana, eight for Chicago. Um, and then the free throw attempts you mentioned, Dave, nine of 16 for the Bulls, eight of 11 for the Pacers. So, the Bulls actually outscored them from the line, but yeah, you make two or three more of those and it’s a different ball game. So, um, we talked so much about like the margin for error with this team and like how little room they have to not screw up in any statistical category. Any element of the game could cost them. And you know, maybe it was the three-pointers in this one, maybe it was the lack of just I didn’t feel like there was like any urgency or tempo in this game at all. Like just getting into sets. Um, you know, I I wrote about this in our instant reactions. Jay Huff scored 14 straight points to open the game. And it was just like they can’t contain a pick and pop. It’s like kind of simple stuff. It’s a it’s a tough action to defend because you have Vu that’s supposed to, you know, be at the level, contain the ball handler, and you need help. like he’s not really able to and and not a lot of bigs are able to both contain the ball and then also get back out. So, you need guys to rotate over and like you’re just not getting contests. He’s wide open and like if he misses one of those threes, he started five. If he misses one of those four threes that he takes, the Bulls win this game. So, those possessions accumulate over the course of a game. And when you don’t have that attention to detail every single possession, you get maybe two in a row where the, you know, the Pacers start to rattle off a run and they went on a couple of runs and so did the Bulls of course, but like those things accumulate over the course of the game and like one or two mistakes early can lead to five or six that happened throughout the, you know, three and a half quarters and now you’re in a close game that shouldn’t be a close game and you’ve got to rely on a miracle shot from Buch or you get unlucky and it’s Syakam on this one. And so just a tough loss, but I completely agree like this is just not a good team right now. They’re not playing good basketball. They can’t like break out of a bad funk that they’re in. And I think that’s pretty disappointing, especially for a team that like had some wins to start the season. So I don’t know what’s going to change. Something has to or they’re just going to like fall out of the playin picture here. Um but this is this is like pretty disappointing stuff and I feel like I don’t know over the last three games it’s so so early. These are small samples, but it just feels like there’s there’s sort of a sour taste in this season as a whole right now in a way that I did not expect. I did not expect this team when they were 5 and0 to be a sub 500 team at all this year. I really didn’t. You know, I thought maybe they’d be a game or two, you know, they’d maybe get down to 500, a game or two above. They’re below 500 after starting five and0 and it’s not even 20 games into the season yet. Like, that’s really disappointing. And I don’t know how they fix it, but it it seems more like a collective malaise that they need to shake off than, you know, there’s one player isn’t playing well enough or like one, you know, they’re not like one flip switch away from being back to 5 and0. Yeah. And look, I I guess the the bright side of that coin is that on November 29th, if you told me that today was the first day of the season, the Bulls would have a sub 500 record, I would be shocked. But that’s because I think across the spectrum of all Bulls fans, I came into this season with lower expectations than most of how good and how real this team would be. So there is that. But I think you’re right to say that something has to change now knowing what we know about this team and what they are and are not capable of and we just don’t know what that is. Uh shout out to our guy MK Hoops, who I saw in the chat early saying nine to 10 players will get you off to a nine and 10 start on the season. Uh, but I mean, look at these comments and we appreciate y’all for being here. Hit the like button while you’re at it. Uh, Yay Gresol saying, “Yo, the Bulls are the worst team in the league.” Nico Bellic, amateur players in Europe are better teams than this garbage. There are players who can’t catch a simple pass, can’t dribble, can’t score uh from one meter, I believe, uh, distance. It’s ridiculous. Optical 20, how can you not tank after seeing these results? Acme, embrace the tank. Uh, there’s no expert who said I’m gonna say it. Mad Peek was right. He’s been calling it all along. We let the bull frauds trick us. Shame on us for falling for it. Appreciate you. Of course, I’m always right. Um, uh, Ted, thank for Boozer saying, “G manifesto, man.” Um, I like th this team needs more than baby boozer says Das. So, look, so the whole thing about like, yo, embrace the tank now. It’s time. Like, let’s go Cam Boozer. That’s something that Bulls fans, myself included, have to admit is not one of the options in front of us because it is not one of the options that the people who run this team are considering. It ain’t happening. They’re nine and 10. They are thinking we just need to tweak some things. We need to play better. We need to tighten up on defense. We we need, you know, Kobe to stop resting on backto backs and a couple other things. We got to get healthy and we can still fix this. we can still turn this around. That is their mindset. I guarantee you. So, it’s not about turning towards the tank. It’s not that’s not going to be the answer. It’s how do you try to make the best of a bad situation, aka a poorly constructed roster. And sometimes it’s winning tight games and sometimes it’s losing tight games, even to teams who are bad and and short-handed. Dave, I’m curious what you thought of Billy’s um final five out there when it turned into yet another clutch game for the Bulls. I believe it was Giddy, Trey, Herder, um Vu, and Modis were were the five out there to close. And um Giddy had a great dump off pass to Vu, uh that ended up in a couple of free throws. That was one of the successful offensive possessions the Bulls had down the stretch. Vu also missed a couple of ugly threes. Herder missed an ugly three. Then there was maybe a a bad for the Bulls no call after Vu had a great offensive tap out rebound. Uh, and it looked like the Bulls are going to get another shot, another possession. Herder gets stripped and fouled and then the Patriots get an easy quick two the other way. But what did you make of Billy’s final five out there and what you saw on those last offensive possessions? I mean, I didn’t have a problem, you know what I’m saying, with what he ran out there uh to end the game. Um, if you want to nitpick over whether I Dumu or Trey Jones should be out there, you can. But I mean, Trey Jones ends up being the guy getting the layup on a, you know, really well drawn up play by uh Billy Donovan. I mean, it was just it looked like a man guy running against the Eagles. It was nobody there as soon as he got that basketball and cut to the rim. So, I thought it was a a very well-designed play. I mean, I I don’t know what else he was supposed to go with um out there. Like, is he going to throw uh locking out there? like, you know, who’s he throwing out there? Is he going to throw, you know, Patrick Lee Williams uh out there? I mean, throw him in the ocean, but I don’t know if he can, you know, throw him, you know, out there in the fourth quarter. But yeah, man, I didn’t have a true issue with who he had out there, Matt. It was just it was just what what other option did he really truly have to go with uh out there? I thought that that was the right decision to go for the two uh as well. Even though the Bulls were were shooting uh over 40% uh from three, I still thought that that two just the way the game felt and the way the game was kind of going, I was like, if you get that open on a two-point bucket, yeah, you you take that shot and you see what happens on the other end and then you remember, oh man, oh yeah, don’t they got Pascal Syakum? Okay, well now you got to deal with that. And you would think you would try to, you know, put your best defender, uh, I guess, out there to to get on him. But, I mean, you know, as Stacy would say, big- time players make big- time plays, and Pascal Seakum is definitely one of those kind of guys, uh, to make those shots. But, no, to answer your question, no, I that was his best all game. I mean, look at the minutes, you know, for the for the guys out there for the starting five. 34 for Modis, 30 for Vu, 32 for Herder. Um, I mean, IO played 35 himself, 29 for Trey off the bench, 34 for Giddy. I’m like, he already told you what he’s going to do in that fourth quarter and who he’s going to go with. The only answer was was it going to be Trey Jones or was it going to be IO? That was the only question uh in my opinion. But no, I I had absolutely no issue or no quilly did out there in the fourth. We got to put in that right there. We got to knock out our first ad break when we come on the other side. I’m curious to get your thoughts on the final clutch minutes as well. Uh, shout out to our guy Eric and shout out to everybody who uh used the think tank to to chip in on that one. But circling back to another clutch minutes game, GOAT, um, what did you make of Billy’s final five and those those final few possessions? Cuz that, you know, like honestly, I think there was some good execution there, but I to to D’s point about that quick sidelines out of bounds Trey just, you know, sprinting to the bucket to get the quick two in the tie. The Bulls didn’t shoot terribly in this game, but they were shooting terribly in that fourth quarter. Like I I mentioned earlier that Herder and Vu chucked up some break threes late in that game. We also saw Modis Mousellis pass up a couple open looks at threes late in the game because he was maybe secondguing and thinking, do I want to take this three right now? So, what did you make of the offensive execution for the Bulls because we know that this is a team that struggles defensively. Yeah, I think just, you know, to add some context, like I’m seeing a lot of comments right now about frustration with not having enough defense out there in the fourth quarter. Um, you know, some people calling for Jaylen Smith. Uh, so I just wanted to like lay out the injury report. He didn’t have pregame today. Jaylen Smith was out, Isaac Aurora was out, Julian Phillips was out, Jaylen Terry was out. Um, am I missing the name? Kobe was out. He didn’t play. Um, and apparently that was the last game that he will sit out on one or the other night of a backto-back. Um, so hopefully just having some help back in there will help them. But as we’ve talked about, like there just aren’t a lot of levers you can pull with this roster. Um, even like Jaylen Smith I don’t think is a very good defender honestly. Like I think he’s okay. I think he blocks some shots but as we’ve talked about there’s a lot more to defense than just blocking a shot here and there. And I think Modus is a good example of that too. Three blocks tonight. Uh, I actually thought he played a pretty good game. He got absolutely bowled over by Seakum on one drive. Just like put him into the ground. Um, and like that’s an example of he needs to get bigger. He needs to get more physical. I think that will take time. I think that will be something that happens down the road. I’m not really worried about that, but he’s just at a point right now where he’s not really an elite defender despite having three blocks and a steal. Okay, maybe if I’m a fantasy basketball player, I’m like feeling pretty good about that. So, um, for me, I don’t really think that there was anything different that I necessarily would have done in that closing unit. Maybe I think the only adjustment you could make was IO over Herder. I thought Herder played okay. He had that one uh three where he kind of bailed BC out coming around the mountain like you know pulling on the move. And like I I really value that as a a movement shooting element that they don’t really have from anybody else. I very much stand still shooter. He can obviously attack, close outs, and drive, but he’s not someone that’s like flying off of screens, catching and shooting, um, and really forcing defenses to have to pay attention to him when he’s not on the ball. And I think that’s the value of Kevin Herder, whether he’s making or missing shots, you’re paying attention to him. You have to defend him. And that means you can’t load up and play defense on the other side. And so when he he’s on the weak side, that means you’re playing pretty much straight up. And I think that like there’s a lot of value in that from uh from an just onc court perspective that’s outside of his makes and misses. For me, I I was probably okay with it. Um you know, the quick two is always kind of a debate. I’m fine with it. Like they got the points like in a situation where you’re down two and you have less than 10 seconds to go and you have the ball like you want to get a bucket. Um they got a wide open shot at the rim. That was probably like their first option and it worked out for them. Uh I would imagine that there was another player whether it was Herder coming off of a screen there on that handoff where he maybe could have gotten a three. Um and then yeah on the defensive side like if you have let’s say you did have IO in there instead of Modis and you wanted to go like all five out shooting spacing. Um then who’s guarding Seakum? And like Modis, you know, got a contest up. Like I don’t think he uh, you know, obviously didn’t like block the shot or alter it or anything like that, but like he gives you a better chance to defend in space against Seakum taking an isolation jump shot with, you know, 3 seconds left than I would have in that position. So, I didn’t really have a problem with it. And then, like, you can say you’re frustrated about lack of defense. To me, that’s a roster issue. It’s not a Billy Donovan issue. Um, and we’ve talked about that till uh basically every episode that we’ve ever done. So, I just don’t know what more that they could have done here. And, you know, Pat could have been in that game. Like, I do think he’s at least more physical in the sense that like he can maybe keep Seakum from getting to his spots in the same way. But, Patrick played horribly. That was like one of the worst individual performances I’ve seen in a really long time from any player. One of saying two rebounds and that’s it. I mean, it wasn’t like the Tony Snell where it’s like you just don’t even really notice him. It was like he’s actively hurting you out there. So, like I don’t blame Billy for not putting Patrick out there. He He He was horrible tonight. I mean, so sorry, finish your thought. No, it’s just like what what was he supposed to do? Yeah. Again, I I do not think given the the people he had available tonight that Billy had a lot of better options as far as his final five. You could say, hey, like Emanuel Miller and Lachlan Olrich were at least looking active and and contributing in the ways that they could earlier in this game. Miller played seven minutes, Lock played 11. Maybe you would have liked to see them get more run earlier in the game, but I’m not asking Billy to have them on the floor late in a tight one. Excuse me. Um, but yeah, like Pat, what you like, oh, Pat should have been out there for for defensive stops late in the game. No, dude. Come on. He played 17 minutes. He had two points and two rebounds. And you know what was nice, Dave? I feel like it had been a minute since we’d seen one of the patented Patrick Williams wide open blown dunk attempts. I feel like those were becoming a thing of the past in like a way that’s like good, please convert your dunks, 6’8 NBA player. And also a little bit sad cuz they always kind of made me giggle. But oh boy, did he give us a classic tonight. Oh my god. Who is this dude? And why is he still on my team? Why? Why is he still on this team? I never understood. They never understood. Come on, Shady Rays. Help us out. I mean, like I just look at I’m looking at the box box score for Patrick Williams. I’m like, “Oh, okay. Yeah, Pat, you know, not a bad game.” You know, hey, six points and a rebound. Oh, I’m sorry. That’s Emanuel Miller in seven minutes. This dude played se W wait 17 minutes. One of seven from the field. It was an atrocity. It offended my basketball sensibility to sit there and watch this dude out there tonight. I mean, he was pure uncut. 100% grade A USDA ass and more ass. The whole ass and nothing but the ass. Patrick Williams was ass, bro. And the dunk. I was saying he was ass before the dunk even happened. After the dunk, it just raised that level of it out there. I’m like I I would I’m like, “Send this dude to the G-League then. Give me Emanuel Miller up here. At least I saw him actually putting in effort. At least I saw him drawing offensive fouls and hitting a three or two and just basically being happy to be out there playing in the NBA. Pat just looks entitled like, “Yeah, this is what it happened. Yeah, I’mma get out here and I’mma do this. I’mma cross myself over. I’mma miss a couple dunks. Hey, I’mma go up, jump really, really high and hit it off the front of the rim.” I still don’t get that one. how that happens and occurs, but it does. It’s a classic by him. He is ass, bro. I I don’t have any other word for it. I just I’m offended now when I sit and I have to watch this dude play basketball, but especially tonight, more than anything tonight. And like you said, Matt, like it was a bad game and and what one of the worst, but like Matt said, that’s saying something that this game is like one of the worst from him because we’ve seen some truly putrid games from him. But as of late, it has been glaring as of late just how bad he has been, man. And I feel like his minutes and and again, he only played 17. I feel like cut him some more. Coup of those minutes, man. What is he deserving? What is he earning? How is he helping you? What is he helping you do out there? Well, you know, he’s big and he’s tall. Great. It’s a bunch of those dudes in the G-League right now. Bunch of big tall dudes who could just stand in your way right now for less money right now. All right. This dude is not good. And it just has been upsetting to sit and watch it turn into this. I don’t like speaking like this about this man. This dude, we’re rooting for him, man. All last year, year before, year before that, year before that, we’re rooting for this cat. But only only it will always come a point in time where you stop hitting your head against a brick wall and you say, “All right, it just is what it is.” And you just accept it for what it is, man. But now it’s that time to say, “Okay, I’m looking at the rest of my roster and I’m trying to see who else wants to play and deserves minutes out there because his need to be severely cut, especially with the losing that’s been happening and him being directly involved with it with that losing out there, man. He has been ass. Make no mistake about it. Pure uncut, not stepped on ass.” Is that is that our pal Steph? No, I see hanging out in the chat who says we need a we need a USDA gradea ass shirt in the CHO merch store. I’m for it. Uh Dr. Professor Love with Dave pops off like this. So tired of P will bro. Um uh Bulls aren’t getting you know Bulls aren’t trading Pat unless they attach a pick to him. He’s that awful. I think South MU said so are we done calling him Lee now? I mean that’s that’s your that’s your calling. I’ll still call him Lee, but it ain’t made no difference. Lee is half ass. Look, piling on, he’s still ass. Yeah. Piling on to a player like this, like, it’s not fun. Like, I wish we weren’t doing this with a player who was a former fourth overall pick by this organization and now is on a second contract and grossly underperforming it. Uh, the the person who looks worse than Patrick Williams in this is Arturus. Like, that’s that’s the real villain here, y’all. Let’s not let’s not lose sight of that. If Patrick Williams, contrary to his own statement from last year, cannot in fact hoop does not in fact got game, you know, okay, it happens with NBA players. Some bust, some are underperforming compared to expectations. AK is the one who signed him to another five years of $90 million. That’s that’s that’s criminal. Uh, all right, with that, we got to hit another break right now. We will come back. More thoughts on tonight’s game. Keep your thoughts coming in the chat. Players Pub and Grill in Prospect Heights this Thursday, 7 o’clock. Mhm. All right, with that, gentlemen, turning our attention back to this L. I feel like I’ve seen his name in the chat a lot. Uh, and we know that that Aussie chapter of Bull’s Nation is strong. Shout out to all shout out to all my giddy committee out there. Bless your hearts. Uh, several of that very Aussie chapter have also been saying, “Lan Olrich is legit. Play this young man.” we all watched him play out in Vegas this summer in summer league and I said not yet not unless the Bulls get truly desperate. Uh I saw him shoot a three that looked like the worst three I’ve ever seen taken save Denzel Valentine on an NBA court, but he made he he made a solid cut off the ball that Josh Giddy found him uh with a nice little bounce pass, a little flip um reverse layup for his first NBA bucket. Kudos to to Olrich and congrats. Glad he finally got some run based out of just desperation and lack of bodies that Billy has at his disposal right now. I will say this, what I liked from Lock tonight is that he is a pretty lightfooted guy for a dude who’s as big as he is and he seems to always be on the move, which you know by logic of what this Bulls team is trying to be as their identity is lots of movement. Um, offensively he was always moving and he was setting some pretty good screens. I still think his offensive ceiling is is pretty low for the NBA. Uh, he he also missed another layup attempt. Uh, other I think that were those the only two shots. So, those were the three shots he took. He made the layup on the pass from Josh. He uh he tried to go to work on the low block uh on a previous possession. that that one he missed and then the three I didn’t come close to anything but he set some good screens and you know he maybe he maybe broke a sweat, got some run. Big Dave, what do you think about Lachland tonight? Oh man, you are you are the best. Um I tell you what what stood out for me. 11 minutes, three rebounds, and two fouls. That’s goon stuff in my opinion. That’s that’s that’s what I see when the play happened where the foul got called on him because I can’t remember the player it was that he got tangled up with because I think it was Pascal Yakum and they were looking at it like wait did did trip him like did he do that on purpose and and the first thing I thought was oh if you give him more time on the floor he’s going to do that on purpose like he’s he’s got a little dirty in him bro like for real like he’s got a little nasty in him and I like that about him As far as his game, everything you said I completely agree with. The three-point shot was putrid. Um, he’s not an offensive guy. I like the Giddy. You could see that he and Giddy, you know, probably have played together because that pass that he made, he just knew exactly where to move to and Giddy just threw him a simple basic pass, but a nice one just to give him, you know, a free layup and everything like that. So, you could kind of see they had a nice a little connection, you know, and I don’t know if that gets him on the floor or not. We’ll see. But yeah, like you saw a guy get some run, get some minutes, like get some cardio out there at le, you know, at least I noticed him out there on the floor like, you know, and that’s more than I can say for, you know, a lot of players like I actually noticed him and felt him a little bit uh on the floor. Um, Emanuel Miller, I really felt I’ll get into him in a minute, but yeah, I thought Brick was, you know, he did exactly what I thought he was going to do. You’re right. when we watched him out at summer league, Matt, we all had the same feeling about what this dude was and what he is. So, yeah, like he gave him a chance out there. He looked like a second round pick and he got, you know, a couple fouls and some rebounds in a few minutes. Still had more rebounds than Lee. So, you know, hey, shout out to him. I’m just so happy to see Marqu and C Red Fred going at it in the comments. I love it. I love it. This is making my night. Um, I mean guys, we’re talking about like two two-way players that one of them was the 55th pick. Like these guys are not Emanuel Miller has played 25 career NBA minutes tonight. He’s not closing the game when Billy Donovan is trying to win. Like he’s just not even if he was like good enough to do that, Billy hasn’t like built up enough connection and trust with him to to trust putting him out there. He’s just not going to do that. So like I I thought he had some good minutes. He he flashed some like good athleticism. these guys are not like ready to play real meaningful NBA minutes and that’s not to say that they’re like trash or they’re never going to be good. They just don’t have the experience and the experience happens to be a pretty big deal. I like Lachlan the way he plays like he clearly has heart. He clearly plays with effort. Um but we’re talking about like a 68 69 center who’s got to like defend at a high level and we’re not even talking about a good offensive team this year. The paces are like 28. Um he’s just not capable of executing the scheme at a high enough level. Like you can say what you want about BH. He knows where to be. he like can’t always get there. He like sometimes gets beat even if he does get there, but like he understands the scheme. He knows where to go and he knows how to position himself and that counts for a lot in the NBA because just being there makes a shot a little bit harder than a wideopen one, which is what was happening pretty much every other time. So again, like could they get good? Could they get to a point where they like develop some skills and like maybe down the road they’re playing a little bit more minutes? Possibly. Um and I’d like to see that they’re getting minutes. Like I do I do think that that’s a valuable component of player development, especially in games where where teams are trying to be competitive. Like I do buy that from the Bulls that like just rolling the ball out there doesn’t necessarily make you a good player, just means you’re getting minutes, but like playing, competing, participating in uh the the type of basketball that is like trying to win at a high level. Like I think being a part of that is valuable. So I think this is good for them. I just don’t think they’re like ready to We talked about how many guys were out like five or six guys who are normal rotation players or at least on the fringe of it who didn’t play. And so like I I don’t anticipate either of them being in the rotation uh on Monday when you know more people are back. Uh and that’s not an indictment or you know to disparrage them at all. They’re just like kind of further down in the pecking order. I think it just speaks to this this idea that like the Bulls don’t have a lot of good young talent. They don’t have a lot of hope. They don’t have a lot a lot of upside. They don’t have a lot of like reason to be optimistic frankly. like this team is just like not built very well in terms of their ability to be good now or you don’t feel good about them. I mean, how many how many wins of the nine wins that they have right now are Trey Jones and B responsible for? Like single-handedly responsible? Probably a good chunk of them. I mean, B just hit three game winners for God’s sakes. Like, this is not a team that’s like and they’re 10th place in the East. Like, they’re just not a team that’s like built to compete now or like overflowing with assets and young players. So, I get the excitement around some of these guys. Um, but I think we also need to like keep a level head about Lachlan played well. I I like the way he plays. Um, he’s got some interesting like things about him, but he’s just not ready to compete at that level. And that’s okay. Speaking of level heads, our IC red friend in the chat saying, “Have we lost our collective minds?” We’re talking about how good spelled O L E capital B R I C K was tonight. GT FO. Um, yeah. Uh, Locky has heart. P Will has turnovers, says Dirk Noitzn in the chat. Um, see Red, I would have got no turnovers tonight. Hey, hooray. I wouldn’t pick first at Lifetime Fitness as our pal Fred. Meanwhile, our Mark saying Aaron Gray walks to Lachland and run. Oh, Derk Noitz known organization is here lobbying for Locky. Hey, Bulls Nation. Aussie chapter. Listen to your fellow Aussie, our friend Mark K, who knows Bulls basketball and NBA basketball as well as anybody. It look I’m I’m not making this like pointed accusation right now. It’s not the time for this conversation, but the the belief in Josh Kitty, I can understand like as like Aussie Pride, hey, this guy, he’s an NBA talent. Look at what he does for Australian national basketball team and look at what he’s done early in his NBA career. I get that. I think is a bridge too far when you’re like play lock start Locky. Why didn’t Locky play more minutes than Fooch tonight? Like let’s can we just take it down a notch just like a little bit? You could you you can be RAR and root for guys from your home nation. That is fine. And look at the NBA. It is an international league now more than ever and only turning more in that direction. That’s great. But just keep keep the context and expectations and like argue arguing and talking points based on reality because yeah like I did I see an NBA player who should be playing 15 20 minutes a night and what I saw from Lachlan tonight. No no no no. Yeah. No. Matt, how do you tell it all the time man? You say fan how you want to fan. Sure. That’s how they that’s how they want to fan. You know what I mean? So do it how you feel like doing. And I mean the real is going to be the real. There’s nothing you could do about reality. It’s going to be what it is. You know, you can either believe in that or or not. Um but the reality is he’s he’s no he’s not good. No, he’s not ready. We understand all that. But you want to root for him. You know, you think he should be in there. Sure. I do I did that with several players, you know what I’m saying, of this team. Are you kidding? Um but yeah, like he’s not ready. It’s really that bottom line of it. He’s not ready. and he got that opportunity probably because you know just every or goat said everybody was injured, nobody was out there ready because I feel like if SN was uh out there on the floor, he would have got those uh minutes. He would have got that opportunity out there on the floor tonight. But yeah, there was definitely a young man on the bench who I didn’t even know when I was watching the Bulls during the timeout and I was like, yo, who is this dude right? I I have no idea. But that just shows you what it was, you know. flowers, baby. It just it just shows you what it was tonight, though. Like, it just shows you where it was tonight. But I again, I will say I did like Emanuel Miller. I did. I liked how he played tonight, man. He It didn’t look too big for him out there on the floor. He didn’t look like Yeah, he looked he was lost on a few plays for sure. I’m not saying that. Um or I’m not And I’m not saying, dude, you Yeah, just start playing this guy all these minutes. I’m not saying those things, but I will say he looked nice and he looked solid and I appreciated that aspect of it, especially cuz I had to sit there and watch Lee do what he was doing out there on the floor. So, him hitting those threes, him taking those charges, uh him just being, you know, putting forth that kind of effort on the floor and not looking like the game was too much for him. I appreciated that. Uh we got to knock out one quick final ad break right now. We come back, wrap up with our final thoughts on tonight’s game. y’all’s final thoughts. Keep them coming in the chat. Throw us a super chat at the buzzer if you feel like it. Hit the like button if you didn’t do it during the ad break. Um I I did want to uh give give some kudos to to Josh tonight. I thought he played a really solid game. Um had a couple of what I would call unforced turnovers, but I’ve just come to accept that that is a part of who he is until it’s not. But he also just had I think a really like quietly efficient night. He finished with 17, 11, and seven. Always love to see that the the rebounding numbers had dipped a little bit for Josh and that coincided with the Bulls getting punked on the defensive glass and some of these bad L’s they’ve taken recently. So, I like to see that work he puts in on the board every night. Want to see that every night and kudos to the Bulls. They only surrendered eight offensive rebounds tonight. They still lost this game, but that was not one of the biggest culprits when it has been in some of the other recent L’s. So, that’s nice. And also, Josh, look, I still think that this is one of the least athletic dudes in the NBA. And it’s like it like my eyes are like you like watch watch Josh just kidding. It doesn’t make sense. It makes my brain hurt. But there were a few different takes he had tonight where he put the ball on the deck and just through craftiness smart steps and and finishes off the glass and using his body and finishing through contact or establishing contact at times or getting his defender on his back hip. Like he had some really crafty finishes around the rim tonight and I will give him praise for that. like I’m a realist. I see what I see. And I thought that Josh on a night when he does that and also knocks down what I think it was 205 from downtown, including that one in the the left corner where the entire Pacers team was like, “Shoot it, we dare you.” He had all day like, “All right, call me knocked down. That’s great. I will give I will give Josh Giddy flowers for stuff like that.” Yeah, he he had a real solid game. uh tonight. I I I just like the way it felt it felt more gritty for me tonight from him and it feels like the Bulls kind of needed that. And the one thing I like about him is he is the same every single game as far as his temperament, as far as his mentality. He is really trying to win every single game. And I think and listening cuz I was listening to the Pacers uh broadcast uh for this one. And they were just they would say the same thing that we would hear other broadcast teams say about him. You don’t realize how big he is until he’s in front of you. And Josh Giddy knows that. And I mean he uses it all the time. That dude uses his size as a super weapon all the time. And especially when the team scores on the other end, you know how IO likes to get the ball and go down, you know, and just run past everybody and try to score. No, Giddy’s gonna get the ball run down and run you over and try to score. And sometimes, majority of the time, uh, it seems to work, uh, for him. But there was one play he was going so fast and so hard that when he threw up his floater and they called the foul, I mean, he hit the stansion like pow. And I mean, hit it hard, you know, because that’s how how hard he plays and how hard he’s going out there. But yeah, he’s trying to win every game. And I like just the consistency that I’m seeing in his game from game one to this one right here. He is We already knew he was going to put up numbers. That’s that’s not what I mean by that. But just the way he’s doing it and the effort that he’s doing it, that’s a very hard style to play that consistently every single time. And I have yet to see him like just take a game off from that style. No, it has been relentless every single game, man. And it’s working well for him. Yeah, I think he played well. Um, you know, for me it’s always like I’m less concerned about the points, rebounds, assists, and I’m more concerned about like the kind of rim pressure that he’s putting on. Um, I I really appreciate I think like the three-point shooting to me is just like it’s real at this point. Like he’s going to be a very solid shooter, especially when teams leave him open. he’s going to make him pay for that, but like still you have the question of what is that costing you on the other side when you’re playing four on five. Um, and if he’s going to shoot 40% of those, then like they need to keep feeding him because they just need to be able to like generate more efficient points. And I feel like the one thing I’m feeling like I want more of from Giddy is scoring. Like I think that will open up so much more for for him as a facilitator um and as a playmaker. Some of that is going to just have to be around the rim. I think he got blocked two or three times. Um yeah, that one that was just like skyed from Jay Huff and then had I think at least one more um where he was blocked and he’s just like he’s got to be more physical. I like I want to see him every single possession like if he’s going to dominate the ball, I want to see him basically every single possession trying to drive and put his shoulder into somebody and finish at the rim. like he has to be basically like he has to be Giannis almost like if he’s going to dominate the ball like that and not be able to pull up and shoot and not be able to like score off the dribble from the perimeter, he has to be putting his body into plays and going to the rim and like he does it. I think he’s gotten better at it. I’m not saying he hasn’t gotten better at it. He for sure has but it needs to be relentless like Giannis level I think for him to really maximize his skill set because he’s not an outside scorer. He’s now a guy who can make you pay if you leave him open, but he’s not pulling up for three, you know, in transition. He’s not, you know, taking off the dribble threes when teams go under him on screening actions. Like, he has to insert himself into every single play as a scorer. That’s what’s going to open up his passing. And you’ll see, I mean, he’s going to get assists regardless because he’s just dominating the ball. Play fast and they get open looks. Can he like really take the scoring to the next level? I want to see him like around 25 points a game. You just don’t see a lot of guys in the league with the kind of usage that he has that aren’t elite scorers. And I think that’s going to hold the Bulls back until he becomes an elite scorer. That’s going to be a tough task. Like again, I’m not saying he’s bad at it. I’m not saying that like he can’t do it. Um certainly he he’s taken huge strides to get to even where he is now, but I think he needs to keep getting better and better there because that’s how you unlock somebody like him with his skill set is you have to become an elite scorer. And I just think he’s not quite there yet. Again, not a criticism, it’s just like that’s where he needs to go. For me, that’s like the the next step. And I’m thinking about next steps. I’m thinking about the future. When you’re talking about a team that just lost to the Pacers, Pelicans, and Hornets, and you are now under 500. Like, these are things that you have to be thinking about. You have to be thinking forward thinking about this team. And like, if you’re built around Giddy, if he’s the hundred million dollar man, if he’s the point guard, that’s what he’s got to do in order to get you out of this middle. Uh, last player I did want to touch on tonight and, uh, we’ll let Nico Bellic with a comment. uh kick this off. Dumu for president. He says that kid should have more confidence and take more shots from outside. He should play at minimum 30 minutes a game. So Io did get another spot start tonight because of the lack of healthy bodies. Played 35 minutes, which was a team high. Um but start or bench, you know, Billy’s going to ride Io Dumu as many minutes as he feels is warranted and needed. And you know, IO at times, I think there were a couple games coming back from whatever it was, like he had like a quad contusion earlier this season and Billy kept him on a minutes restriction for like a game. I was like, “All right, that’s enough. Like, I need you.” Um, to the point about being more confident to take an and make uh more shots. I I don’t disagree. I think he finished with 15 points tonight, but was three of six from downtown. I came into tonight fifth in the NBA in three-point percentage. Among all NBA players, he is fifth. at 47.5%. And he’s not a high volume three-point shooter, so it’s not as impressive as somebody who’s shooting well above 40 at, you know, like an eight or nine, you know, shots clip per game kind of thing. But still, considering that IO had, you know, like he’s been up and down in his three-point efficiency so far in his NBA career, he had a really strong three-point shooting season two years ago and then last year it fell. He was at like I think like 32%. So, it’s really encouraging to see him shooting the ball this well out of the gate this season. But that’s just one element of generally my appreciation for IO who just like on a night when you’re talking about this team lacking in talent and Billy Donovan preaching about needing to play with desperation because we have to given our level of talent. Feel like I was just one of a very short list of players. Maybe a one name list of players who’s out there giving his all on both ends of the floor every night. Yeah, I wanted to go ahead. No, I just want I wanted to say it quick that I just love the fact that we’re talking about him because I just talked about Giddy and his consistency and that’s exactly what I Dumu is uh for this team and what he’s been since day one for the Chicago Bulls is consistent. He’s been absolutely consistent. You can hang your hat on what he’s going to do on the floor. He hasn’t really changed about his game for anything because nobody’s been able to, you know, catch up to it yet. like he’s still doing the same things. He’s just refined them. He’s just fine-tuned them and it’s made him just so much better to where whether he’s starting or coming off the bench, you know what you’re getting fromu and it’s going to be something good. Yeah. And again, thinking trying to be like forward thinking about it because he has been great. I feel like we’ve talked a lot about how well he’s played, how consistent he’s been, uh the ability to like get downhill behind the defense, just putting pressure on the rim, all that stuff’s remain consistent and that’s what I want to see more of. I want to see the consistency from him where he’s not going. I mean, his his three-point shooting over his career, 37 and a half% his first year, then 31.2, then 40.3, then 32.8, and now 47.5 coming into this game. He makes three of six. It’s going to be around 48 48 and a half% after this. Like, that’s probably going to come down. Just it is like that’s kind of how that will work. But like, can you level off around 40% and just like stay there? I don’t want to see these like highs and lows. I think he needs to try to find some more consistency there. And I do think a lot of that is just like context dependent, right? It’s like if you’re feeling like you’re in a good rhythm, um maybe that puts you in a better spot when you’re playing the style that the Bulls are playing right now. I think that really caters to his skill set and allows him to be the best version of himself. Whereas in years past, that hasn’t always been the case and he’s doing a little bit more standing around. So, I think he can be a more uh efficient and consistent three-point shooter. But I think that’s true across every element of his game. Like I just want to see that continue to stay steady. Um we’re seeing kind of like the best version of him right now. Like let’s see how it looks in 10, 20, 30 more games and let’s see how it looks again this time next year. I hope that it’s not those high high, you know, peaks and valleys um those dramatic swings in in terms of his percentage where you just don’t really know what you’re getting on a nighttoight basis or he goes through a hot stretch and then a cold stretch. like the consistency I think for a player who’s you know 25 26 something like that um he he’s got to get to a point where he’s where you know what you’re getting from him a little bit more consistently and and hopefully it’s this version of them because this has been the best one. Uh as we wrap up with just a couple more thoughts tonight as we head to a short OT session over time if you are watching on one of our various streaming partners and services and want that OT content just head to allgo.com. Um, so I I think we had a super chat that we didn’t get to yet. Uh, Sean Waters threw us a $2 super chat who said, “Bulls have the worst front office in Chicago history.” This one specifically. I don’t know. Either way, that’s uh that’s a long competitive list, but I think it goes back to our Patrick Williams conversation from earlier tonight. And like this isn’t a Patrick Williams problem. Like it’s a bummer that he is the player he is, but that’s an AK problem. And it’s one that could have been solved by not immediately signing him to a guaranteed five years and 90 million more dollars when there were very few reasons looking at AK in the face telling him to do that. And it’s just it’s one of several questionable decisions is is the kindest way I can put it. And I don’t feel like putting it kindly most often, but I’ll give it to him tonight. But because especially when you think about this team that the Bulls lost to tonight, the came in having just gotten their third win of the season last night, Pacers, and that people kept talking all summer about, hey, AK’s kind of like going like the Pacers route of like, oh my god, they made this incredible, improbable, unpredictable run to the finals, and it’s not like a team built around superstars and it’s just like a good deep roster. Sounds like that’s what AK’s trying to do. He’s taking that path. even told us in an interview, “Nine to 10 good players, we’re we’re we’re focusing on depth and not superstar talent. That’s the path we’re choosing right now.” And some Bulls fans said, “Are you sure?” And some Bulls fans said, “Okay, let’s see what happens.” The Pacers are now a four- win team. Where’s Tyrese’s Hallebertton? In street clothes, sitting on that bench. Like to me that that is the most glaring thing about all of this and this recent stretch of L’s when we were like okay Bulls just endured a really tough part of their schedule. Let’s see if we can you know tack off some wins here and get back up in the Eastern Conference standings with all these winnable games on deck. Yeah, the Bulls are missing guys. So has every team they’ve faced in this stretch of losses. So that excuse is out the window every night in my opinion. and nine to 10 good players, as our good friend Marqu said at the top of tonight’s chat. Well, it just might get you to a nine and 10 record. We’ll see where it goes from here, but this is exactly what I feared this team would be. Yeah, I don’t think that uh well, I’ll speak I’ll speak for myself. I don’t think you and I were different in where this team would be cuz I think our records were the same. Like if you look at our end of the year record, we kind of it’s the same where we think it’s going to end up for them. I just I think I enjoyed the process more in the beginning of getting to this. Um because I hadn’t seen it in so damn long of of the way that they this team was winning. And I don’t apologize for any of that right there. Like I enjoyed the hell out of those games. That was fun fun stuff uh to sit there and watch. But yeah, at some point in time you’re going to have to eat your vegetables. you’re gonna have to, you know, come on home, you know what I mean? Reality is going to kick you in the face at some time. You have to leave Disneyland, you know what I mean? And go home at some point in time. That’s what it is. It just, you just didn’t think it was going to be in this way. I think that how they got there is is the most surprising part of it because I don’t think the nine and 10 for me is surprising. It’s just, oh, you did it because you lost to these, you know, teams right here and not the teams earlier on in the year. that that for me was the biggest shock and surprise uh of it is is how they got there. But no, everything you’re saying is is absolutely correct per usual and everything is right. Um I don’t know where they go from here. Uh, I’m I’m curious as to the mentality of the team right now and what are they thinking right now and I’m trying to watch body language and you know seeing how guys are moving and seeing how they’re talking right now because this is a slump that you’re in uh right now including that Miami Heat loss that that just told you oh no you are nowhere near this kind of level that you’re talking about that you’re on. They just really it it’s like that loss right there like that was the medicine like nope we know where you are go home start over again. So yeah they got a lot to fix and a lot to attend to. I just as go I just don’t know where it starts or where it begins or how they you know get into it because of the roster that AK has built. If you again we talked about this all off seasonason fine. You want to beat the Pacers cool. Who’s Tyresese Hallebertton? Great. Who’s Pascal Seakkum? like which one of those guys is that? Like who is going to be that guy for your team? So until that can get answered, until you know what that’s going to be, you’re gonna have this team right here who’s going to, you know, pretty much live in the middle. And it makes you sort of hope that they don’t like they, as we talked about last night, they’re now in a position where they can make some moves, which has not been the case over the last several years. So, you hope that they don’t get too desperate to where now they’re like making some short-sighted decisions to try to get themselves out of this because you called it a slump, Dave. I was is this a slump or is I mean 14 games now where you start five and 0 and then you go four and 10 after that? Like which is the outlier of those in terms of sample size? Is it the 14 game sample or the five game sample? And so like I hope that they don’t get themselves into a situation where they still think that they’re this 5-0 team off to this incredible start that’s you know just one move away from getting back there or just one move away from you know a trip to the conference finals. Like I don’t think that’s who they are. I don’t think a team who is capable of making the conference finals is also a team that’s going to go four and 10 for a stretch. So maybe they figure something out. Maybe they get better. Maybe they, you know, find or rediscover the sort of electricity and magic that they were playing with in those first five games, but it’s just like don’t don’t do a short-sighted move that like costs you future draft capital to get yourself back to 500 now. Like that would be a disaster to me. And so, um, you know, they’re not going to tank. We know this. They’re not going to, you know, go towards the draft as much as, uh, we all think that’s the right idea. So, how can you move forward without, you know, making any short-sighted decision decisions, without sacrificing um the flexibility you have in a good like this is kind of not necessarily me talking myself out of the Anthony Davis stuff, but like I do think there is concern with that where it’s like you’re getting so desperate that now you’re attaching three picks or two picks plus Kobe. Like I think that’s where it gets a little dangerous where I wouldn’t want to do something like that. If it’s cheap, if you get off of bad contracts, if it’s one pick, sure. But I just don’t think that you’re in a position now where you can you’re not one move away from the second round is what I’m trying to say. Uh with that, correct? We’ll uh we’ll let our pal Mark have the uh the last line in the chat. Too much talent in the league for the Bulls to try and out talent teams with their gimmick ball. It’s as simple as that. AAM’s razor has been cutting Bulls fans deep for years, but no one sees the wounds. Poetic. Most often the correct answer is the obvious one. Bulls are mid. The CHGO Bulls crew break down the Chicago Bulls 103-101 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night. Both teams struggled to hit shots in the fourth quarter, but after a quick Tre Jones drive tied it, Pascal Siakam beat Matas Buzelis with a tough baseline jumper at the buzzer. Peck, Big Dave and Will Gottlieb discuss another hard loss for the shorthanded Bulls, and what could’ve been executed better in another tight finish. Plus, we saw the first minutes of the season for Emanuel Miller and Lachlan Olbrich. Will we see more for either player anytime soon?

  1. The Chicago Bulls are a team I don't want to root for right now. The only successful player drafted by the general manager is Ayo Dosunmu. The coach's mercenary tactics and tactics are inferior to those of opposing coaches. He lacks even the ability to develop players, making the team's future bleak. This is the result of an incompetent front office staffed by personal connections and friendships. If they had any conscience, they should resign voluntarily.

  2. The Pacers are better than their record and are starting to get some guys back. But the Bulls should have won this game. The again if the Pacers didnt go so cold maybe the Bulls wouldn’t have had that 4th quarter lead.

  3. How good was Olbrich?! Put him in for p-will. He did more in 11 mins than p-will did in 17 look at his +- and over under. He was open on the pass under the ring 4-5 times and his team mates never went to him. Disappointing!

  4. Olbrich earned his Minutes with a Triple Double and further noticeable stuff in G-League, a +15 in 11 Minutes looks like good offball-movement and solid work on defense.
