[ZBerm] Bears scored 10 points through 3 quarters, which tied for their 2nd fewest points through 3 this season. Can’t absolve the run defense, but offense had season-low 7 1st downs through 3 quarters and possessed the ball for only 14:56 of those 45 mins. At some point, the dam will break

  1. I’ve often felt the same sentiment this season but we are now in December. At some point, this is just who we are.

  2. Yeah the overwhelming blame is going to Patullo as it should, but I do see some posts blaming the defense for how the bears gashed us. While it isn’t a great showing, youd hope the most expensive offense in the league could score more than 24 pts against a bottom 5 defense lol

  3. i felt this watching the game — it’s definitely frustrating to see your defense get torn up by the run, but it was “only” 10-3 at halftime and and 10-9 at the end of the third, and it felt like if we had ANY type of competent offense that bend-don’t-break approach would have been more than enough. the dam broke in the 4th.

  4. It felt pretty palpable after the Hurts fumble that the defense became deflated. They got the interception, set up the offense with good field position to take the lead late in the 3rd quarter, then they literally fumbled it away.

  5. KP needs to to.and the sooner we realize Nick is a hack that only looks good because he runs a stacked team, the better

  6. KP isn’t the whole problem, but you have to fire him because anything else is the definition of insanity (and Groundhogs Day)

  7. Well they both sucked. Bears left points on the board which a better team would have had. Of course our offense had been bad all year.

  8. It’s fine guys. I was told, on this very sub, that none of the glaring issues with this team mattered because they were winning.

  9. Honestly the Bears were shooting themselves in the foot with the passing game. Caleb missed Odunze on a wide open TD. If they had decided to run it more they likely could have scored 17-24 points in the first three quarters.

  10. Defense got run over, but they held their own when it mattered. They created a turnover and gave the offense great field position, which they didn’t capitalize. They were out there every 3 minutes, it felt like.

It wasn’t pretty but it’s like he says, at the end of the day Bears had 10 points through 3 quarters. The problem is that with this offense, the defense either has to allow less than 15 points the whole game, or needs to generate multiple turnovers + the special teams need to block FG/punts for the team to have a chance to win

  11. to be fair, the game was much closer than it should have been. the bears were running the ball at will, gaining 7 ypc and still had Caleb throw it 30 times in a windy game.

  12. As both an Eagles fan and defensive guy, it is difficult for me to respond to this without being offensive (no pun intended)

    The O stinks

The Run D has also stunk for the past 1.75 games

Way too many excuses are getting floated out on behalf of some in the organization while others are getting gossip leaked.

  13. The Eagles D didn’t always play well the 1st three quarters. A better offense would have scored more. Vic was calling mint fronts and 5-1-penny deep 3rd quarter because it was still a 1 point game despite the fact that the run D was getting CRUSHED all game long. These are not fronts you call to help the run D. Byron Young has been bad all damn year long. Why is he still in the game when he is on ice skates for 3 quarters? The LBs cannot reasonably be expected to account for that.

  14. Idc that the defense let up a ton of rushing yards. Points matter more and the defense held great all things considered. I take it as a matter of them having shit down the pass entirely and thus the bears really only having room to run the ball. It was fine and it put the team in a position to win.

The offense is the disaster. Not the defense.

  15. This was such a huge reason the defense was atrocious down the stretch in 2023 as well. So many 3 and outs, no sustained drives. That fumble after the pick was an absolute killer

  16. Bears should’ve been up way more. Williams was 40% passing. They didn’t play very well. Offense was usual inept with tons of 3-0s that can be blamed across the board. This team’s main issue is offensive and will be until they figure out how to get a consistent run game/play from QB1.

  17. yeah the run defense sucked for sure but overall the bears averaged 5 yards per play which was actually less than the Eagles even if you get rid of the garbage time stats. They did just enough to keep us in the game. Also the Eagles had the same rushing success rate as the bears did.

  18. Breaking news: defense that has to be on the field the entire game is bad against the run. More at 9.

  19. If the offense is only going to go 3-and-out almost every time, the opposing offense is going to run it down our throats to control the clock.

Nick’s “so long as we don’t turn the ball over, we won’t lose” approach is not sustainable. At some point, you need to put points on the board.

Nick and Howie are not on the same page. Howie spent money to get a prolific offense, and Nick schemes to ignore those players.
