“He’s Got Some Sick Moves” | Lindy Ruff On Noah Ostlund’s Shootout Goal | Buffalo Sabres Beat Wild
You guys have struggled so much on the road. What was your thought about the way you played this game defensively and you got breaks and you know you pulled one out. I thought uh you know we played well. Um you know made a big mistake on both our goals but you know recovered. I thought we got a we got a great game out of that fourth line. Got a good energy. Got a goal a lot of them. Uh I thought it was a night where on the road against a you know good team, a team that was on the on a roll. Uh we played the game the right way all night. I think we got rewarded for our break. We had a lot of good opportunities. Didn’t go in, but by playing the game the right way, we we finally caught a break. The line shuffles, I mean, what was the thought on it? How do you think it played out? Uh we haven’t been winning on the road. We thought backto-back game, try to balance them. Uh the thoughts on some lines were, you know, try to get better in the faceoff dots or put cozy with Tomemer and could take the left-handed and the right-handed draws and they could kind of split time at center ice. Um but try to balance the lineup in a back-to-back game and and get more energy and I thought it worked out. Osceland in the shootout, what was the thought there? I just we’ kind of done some research on on you know the reports from the miners and what came back is they said he’s sick. He’s got some sick moves. So I said well he’s going for sure. So that played out. That was a pretty sick move. Yeah, it was a sick move for sure. And and I you know I think the fact that they wouldn’t have had any intel on him you know helped out too. As you’ve said all the road games have been close. How key is it before this six game trip for them to have a couple wins under their belt and some confidence from that? A big game for us obviously, you know, a tough loss where, you know, we did a lot of things good in the jersey game, didn’t score, and then tonight we’re doing a lot of good things and, you know, we had a couple crossarss where, you know, I felt, you know, we could have got back in the game or even taking the lead. Um, but take it one game at a time, you know, one road win at a time. We know we got to win on the road. The only way to get back in in the in the race and right in the thick of it is win road games. Colton Ellis had to stop that wraparound in the first minute and you got big saves from him all night. What was your thought on just the way Yeah, he gave us a solid game. Uh, you know, if you I thought, you know, once he settled in, uh, there was there was probably three or four saves that were key saves inside the game. Seemed like Capriov had fewer chances as the game went on. What was the key to sort of tightening up on him? Uh well, I think Sammy did, you know, in Dolls, you know, for the most part, did a great job against him. Uh obviously, we know he’s a guy you got to contain. Uh but he’s a guy that can break loose, too. And uh I thought that third period, we played a played a great third period. You had obviously a lot of problems earlier in overtime. What did you think about tonight in those five minutes? How much better? Oh, I thought better. Again, we’ve we’ve we’ve talked about how we need to play. We’ve, you know, tried to make some adjustments of the personnel we’ve put out and again we used a couple D and um, you know, we ended up with a couple great opportunities. Uh, and I think maybe they had one look. So, you know, it was it was a a better outing. Three on three. Three and three definitely for us.
