Another year of missing the playoffs and drafting 13th overall and signing old and trash vets who won’t make the team better as we wait for young guys to come up who we drafted 15th overall. Rinse and repeat, we are placing ourselves firmly in the mushy middle with no end being in sight

I’m an yzerman truther, but have been looking in the mirror. I just can’t help but think it’s the players man – do we trust Todd’s judgement? Why can no coach get them to play well? It might be an NBA affect where some of these guys are just comfortable with how much money they have

I grew up thinking Detroit sports was going to be a lifetime of joy , born in 94 and watching championship teams in 97,98, 02, 04 (pistons) 06 World Series tigers even though they lost and then 08 wings champions. Followed my a couple more World Series appearances and a cup final appearance in 09 again by the wings. But ever since I’ve graduated high school in 2012 it’s basically been nothing but pain and suffering.

I feel like the only other thing Todd can do right now to send a stronger message is start scratching major players here and there. Starting with Mo Seider.

Well, we can do a Chicago and sell all our young guys (Hagel, Dach, Debrincat type talent) for a full tank for #1, or hope for a Bettman gift aka NYI,
Not much else to do squad-wise than wait for more picks to mature and stay the course Outside of trading Larkin and Kane (if willing), giving up U-24 players without doing a full Chi-style tear-and-reload won’t help much in the long term (probably not short-term either). Other GMs would have the same options with the same broken team. So unless a full new rebuild is the way, a GM switch will probably do more damage.
All 23 players are not this bad (individually), don’t know why they fail to do simple basic hockey plays e.g the Edvinsson lack of coverage on Guentzel; have seen all DET players do the same at one point. A play like that is defended correctly the same way in the AHL, KHL, SHL. Seems like their collective brains are off (most of the time).
Beats me why they won’t ever just get angry and break the lethargic depression they are embodeing. Break sticks, throw some F words at Helene & co in the media afterwards. Fire it up. As Todd said – when is enough enough?
All that early season hope definitively a mirage. This rebuild is stalled and the team has no shot of making the playoffs, let alone push for a championship, for the foreseeable future.
I think most of us fans tried to give the benefit of the doubt – but this latest losing streak, with this great goal differential, against both top and bottom teams, demonstrates that the best of its future isn’t good enough.
No, the rookies don’t need another ‘couple of years’ of maturation in the league to demonstrate what they’re capable of. They are doing so now – along with best pieces currently on the team (Ray, Seider, Larkin, Cat); and that is: inconsistent and without the ability to break open a game.
This teams ceiling is to finish 18th-25th in the league, every year. Whatever the problems Red Wings management has in player development/acquisition/retention via the present unattractiveness of Detroit, or whatever other systemic obstacles that need to be overcome, are no longer excusable excuses.
Simply, if this organization has any prudence, it would trade current assets save Raymond, Seider, maybe ASP, and goalie prospects in order to be in a position to actually draft players you can build a team around. Which would mean another 5 years+ of mediocrity… Abhorrent, really. But without, the team is already there and without the benefit of a potential future.

You don’t need to tank and you don’t need to sell your whole team and you don’t need to restart a rebuild. It was one simple thing get defenseman during the off-season. We have one long-term defenseman signed that’s it. That’s not OK that’s like calling into work Eiserman called in all summer long just phoned it in. So do whatever you gotta do to go find some blue liners. I literally don’t care who you trade get some blue liners because this team can score when they don’t have to be focused on two way hockey.
It’s like Yzer got hired to build a house. He put up two walls, took the summer off and said everybody’s being impatient with the build. No dude get back on the phones and build the other two walls!!
And he always addresses the public like they’re complete idiots. Actually Yzer I’m responsible for building multimillion dollar teams all over the country and I win my fantasy games every year I bet Yzer looses his fantasy leagues. Seriously I don’t think the guy knows how to negotiate one bit. I don’t think he understands the concept of trading.
He had the top scouts with him in Tampa and they won through the draft. He came to Detroit and we’ve got some good drafts, but he has seriously laughed every single trade. He has gotten most trades wrong.

Just absolute trash. We’re a 75 point team pretending to be a 95+ point team. It’s win lose win lose with this team. Inconsistent and the script is gonna start flipping on this team quickly
I thought Stevie Y. was done with the crap acquisitions and then came Gibson & Hamonic.
What losers. 3 different coaches and yet the same mistake-filled underachieving, soft hockey. This clearly points to the talent & ability levels of the teams.
As Yzerman assembled the personnel for all these teams, he owns it. He owns this bologna.
Todd McLellan already sounds really angry & frustrated. I won’t be surprised if he resigns at the end of this season, These players don’t seem to be able to learn how to improve. There are simply too many mediocre players that either make bad mistakes or can’t produce .
It’s getting to the point you might as well swap out the crap for GR guys like Shine, Watson and Lombardi that will at least give you 200% each night, everything they’ve got.
This is not a playoff team, who are we kidding?
I know it’s very hard to do, but the Red Wings need a real number 1 goaltender. They have not had that in so long. It seems no matter what they do without a legit goalie they are doomed. I’m not saying you can’t get to a Stanley cup without a true #1, but I will say you won’t.
I guess I will have to try and enjoy some basketball instead for now?
The way this team plays we’re gonna need to resurrect the nickname of “Dead Wings”. Yeah, they look THAT bad.
