NYR vs TBL: Mike Sullivan Pregame Media Availability | Nov. 29, 2025
Um, is Eigor going today? Yes. Mike, I also noticed um, uh, the roster has, uh, Borggan no longer listed on IR. Is he coming off today? He’ll be a game time decision, but so he’s Yeah. So, he’s an option. He’s off. Yes. Okay. Did you have to make a corresponding move? Send anybody down? I don’t believe so. Okay. Um, I wanted to ask you about the the top six. You you’ve mostly had the same guys in there, but you’ve arranged the combinations differently. just curious what it is that that that you’re looking for that will tell you like, okay, this is this is the way I want to I want to roll with this. And um are you feeling like you’re getting maybe closer to that point recently? Yeah. So, we’re looking for chemistry, we’re looking for traction, consistency of play, uh all of those all of those things. And you know, it when when we get it, we’ll stay with it. Um we’ve moved people around. You know, there’s been people injured also. that’s been part of it. JT was out for a period of time. Troach was out for a bunch of games. That changes the dynamic a lot, right? So, um you know, ideally we’d like to settle into uh some consistent combinations and then build. Um, but we just haven’t found a comfort level at this point where we see you know the the elements that I’m talking about just uh, you know, the chemistry and the consistency of play where uh, where those guys are controlling play on a consistent basis when they go over the boards. What’s um, Quick’s status right now? Uh, what’s his status? He’s injured. I know, but is he is he? You have a bunch of games coming up here. I guess the question is, are you going to have you think you’re going to have to give Dar a game or two coming? We’re going to manage it accordingly. Uh Cookie’s on the ice right now. Um so he has been on the ice the last couple of days. Um we’ll we’ll see where it goes. We wanted to get through this week and we’ll see where Quicky’s progress makes uh how much progress he makes and then we’ll we’ll make a decision on where it goes. What what I will tell you, Dan, is that we’re we’re very much aware of Chesty’s workload. You know, I think to this point in the season, we’ve done a I think a fairly decent job in managing his workload between him and Quickie. Uh so that uh when you get in situations like this, if you have to lean on him a little bit, you know, we believe we can and he’s capable. Uh but obviously that’s not something longterm that we’re comfortable with. and uh if it requires moving other guys in there, then we’ll we’ll make those decisions at the time. What’s impressed you with the uh line with Bard and Brock? Do you feel like they’ve kind of added an offensive spark the past couple games? Yeah, I just think they, you know, they they play a nononsense straight ahead speed game and I think speed kills in this in today’s game. You know, they’re they’re good on the puck pursuit. Uh they challenge people wide. uh they’re connected with the with cooperative play in the offensive zone. Uh so they’re, you know, they’re always close and around each other so they can compete on pucks. Uh and just their quickness and their tenacity, I think, has been effective for us. Uh they’ve chipped in offensively, uh which which helps, but they’re also a good momentum line for us. You know, they force teams to expend energy defending them. Um they help us gain momentum. and they might get an offensive zone whistle where we got a chance to put a, you know, the next line in an offensive situation off a faceoff. Uh those are some of the things that they do for us. You guys are 11 and two when you score the first goal. Just what do you notice about your team? Maybe the way they play after they get that first goal that’s helping them find so much success. Yeah, it’s a good question. You know, I think anytime you get the first goal, it’s certainly for just from a mindset standpoint, it uh you know, it it gives a team a boost. Um, you know, it’s amazing the jolt of energy that you can get when uh when you score a goal, whether it’s an individual or a group. Um, you know, I think it feeds energy. It feeds momentum. Um, you know, that would be an interesting stat to to look around the league. It it’s probably a fairly common thing when teams score first, they have they have a tendency to have success. Uh, I haven’t looked at it, so I can’t say with any uh sort of assurance, but you’re the third best in the league to do it right now. Okay. So, yeah, I you know, like it it it’s interesting, but it’s I I think I definitely think that’s part of it where when when you’re able to have a good start, uh just from a mindset standpoint, you know, you’re in the right headsp space, you know, you there’s a there’s a level of confidence uh that comes from it. There’s an energy level that comes from it, and everybody can feed off of that. All right. Thank you. Sure.
