Should Colorado trade for Boston’s Masataka Yoshida this winter and kickstart a rebrand in Japan?
How about outfielder DH Masataka Yoshida of the Boston Red Sox? How about that? Two years, $37.2 million. You pay him 2627. Again, combined over those two years and you get a prospect or two from a really good and really deep Red Sox farm system. Now, Yoshida only has 29 homers in three seasons. That’s not great with Boston. That short porch in left field in Green Monster, maybe not a porch so much as it is a dock. I don’t know. Do the Rockies, this is what I’m curious about. to the Rockies, more specifically Paul D Podesta. Do they want to kickstart, I should say, do they want to kickstart their rebrand in the Far East by bringing in their first Japanese player since Casmatsui in 2007, which was nearly 20 years ago. This would really, I think, do wonders for getting themselves back into that market. They still have a long way to go, but this could be worth more than just one step in the right direction. If you were to acquire a player like Masataki Yosha and then people in Japan, you know, I imagine everyone just loves the Dodgers, sure, but there are always contrarians out
The Colorado Rockies have not had a player from Japan since 2007 when Kaz Matsui starred at second base in their lone World Series season. New President of Baseball Operations Paul DePodesta would love to give his first offseason a jumpstart by acquiring OF/DH Masataka Yoshida from the Boston Red Sox.
Should Colorado consider taking on bad contracts for decent players while simultaneously improving their farm system?
