Cootes was playing the Royals today and it was pretty neat to get to see him before he makes it to the big team full time.
Kid got smoked in the nose like four minutes into the first and went straight down the hall which was pretty worrying but he came back just minutes later with some nose tampons and put up a hell of a game. Super tough on defence, gave guys hell in the crease. Didn’t notice him as much on offence (I was seated in the Seattle end so maybe that had something to do with it) but he put up two goals so he must be doing something right. Noticed he stayed out of physical alterations but other than that looked like a strong leader.
Seattle lost but Cootes was named the second star of the game. Super excited for this guy to get another shot in Vancouver.

Just to add on to this: I was at the Seattle @ Victoria game on Friday as well but Cootes was warmup scratched I think. Didn’t see him at all even during warmup, I got there a bit late so maybe he went off before I arrived. Heard through the grapevine he started puking but not sure if there’s any truth to that. Didn’t play on Friday though.

It was wayyy busier last year, probably because they were doing well. I feel like it gets better toward the end of the season
I wish I checked who was playing when I drove to Victoria. Would’ve left sooner to watch the game.
