Grading the Last 5 New Orleans Saints 1st Round Picks #nfl #nfldraft #saints

Let’s grade the last five New Orleans Saints first round picks. So, we’re going to start off with their most recent one, Kelvin Banks, the offensive lineman out of Texas. They took him ninth overall in the 2025 draft. I think Banks has looked like a promising young offensive tackle in this league. Some people thought he could play guard or tackle, and he’s really thriving right now as a franchise tackle. I’m giving this one an A. They also took an offensive lineman in the first round in 2024. They selected Tisei Fuaga out of Oregon State, 14th overall. And I’m giving this one a B. I think Fuaga showed flashes in his first two years. And I’m excited to see what Banks and Fuaga could do as a duo moving forward. They took Brian Breeze with the 29th overall pick in the 2023 draft. They got this pick from the Broncos from the Shawn Peyton trade. And I’m giving this one an F. Brazier has not really been a great interior defensive lineman since he got drafted. Cannot really generate any pass pressure whatsoever. They had a better pick though in the first round in 2022. They selected Chris Olive with the 11th overall pick and Ohio State receiver. And I’m going to give this pick an A minus. Chris Alb has dealt with a bunch of injuries in his career. He hasn’t really been dealt the best quarterback play since he’s been drafted, but he still has great hands. He’s still a great route runner. They could have taken Trayvon Burks or Jiad Dawson in this draft. It could have been a lot worse. And they also had another firstrounder in the 2022 draft. They selected Trevor Penning, the offensive tackle, 19th overall out of Northern Iowa. This one is also getting an F. Penning was not really a great New Orleans Saint whatsoever, and they traded him this year to the LA Chargers for a 2027 sixthround pick. Not the best return on investment. Let me know what you agree or disagree with.

  1. Bresee an F ? Holy stats watcher. He gets double teamed often and has a fair amount of sacks. Also was injured but played through it his rookie season and beinging of 2nd year. Not an A but C+ atleast

  2. Bresee an F is insane coming from a panthers fan. Due is a big body DT he does his job. He’s middle of the road in the league on pressures and sacks for DTs.

    More like a C or B tbh

  3. Bryan’s breesee an F? I’d say a c

He has to get better at stopping th le run but dude is a monster at getting after the QB.

Saying he can’t generate any pass pressure is ridiculous!! He had 4.5 sacks his rookie year and 7.5 sacks his second year!!! While rotating in.

He’s faced more double teams this year
