Cowboys MAKE Sneaky Signing…
The Dallas Cowboys have just made a sneaky signing as they add to their running back room. We talk about the latest with that signing and the return of Diggs as he is officially off of IR and his 21-day practice window has opened up. We get you the latest on all of that right here on Cowboys Digest. Welcome everybody. I’m Jay Andrew. I appreciate you hanging out with me and tuning in to today’s show. We officially got the news that Trayvon Diggs is back at Cowboys practice, meaning that he is coming off the IR and his 21-day practice window is open. Now, there were lingling or wringlings, I should say, that the potential is there for him to come out and maybe play in the Cowboys upcoming game, but we will have to kind of wait and see whether that is going to be an official reality or if that ends up being just a pipe dream. Either way though, I think that there has been a little bit of an interesting mix of Trayvon Diggs and I I kind of want to break down his return and some people who maybe want his return and some people who maybe say that it’s not worth it. And so for my perspective, I believe Trayvon coming back to this team is a very good thing. First of all, the secondary is in a very interesting spot, especially depthwise. I think at this point we can all agree the depth is for sure there on the defensive line. The linebackers I trust about mostly everybody, at least to an a certain extent, especially with the addition of Logan Wilson. But the secondary, the safeties, the quarterbacks, uh, I don’t know if I trust many people there just yet. And so with Trayvon coming back, there’s been an interesting response both on comments on this channel, on our Tik Tok page, and really throughout the entirety of Cowboys Nation of whether or not Trayvon should come back, if he’s going to be valuable to this team, or if he’s going to come back and be a detriment to this team. Now, there is a little bit of house cleaning we do have to do with this. Trayvon Diggs is in his first practice in more than a month. He is now the seventh of eight possible players that the Cowboys can activate off injured reserve this year, meaning they can only activate one more player off IR. Josh Butler, who was on the pup list, and Wa Thomas, who’s on the non- football injury list, do not count to this total. We’re going to break that down a more a little bit more in just a moment. But to go back to my original point with Trayvon Diggs, are you excited he’s back? Are you scared he’s back? Do you believe he’s going to be a help or a detriment to this team? I want you to rate your excitement level for the return of Trayvon Diggs. Scale it 1 through 10. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section. One for being least excited and you don’t want him on the team. 10 for most excited. And I’m very happy to have him back. So, going back to this point here, talking about the eight players that can return for the Cowboys off the IR, um, here is the point. During the NFL season, you have eight possible returning IR slots. So, if you put people on IR, only eight people you can bring back off IR. And we’re at a point now where they’ve returned seven. As they mentioned, Butler and Thomas do not count. Here is the what we’re going to say what eight players that are still currently on the IR. Um Rob Jones is out for the year. Obviously Trayvon is off this list now. Johnny Cornelius seems to be out for the year. Phil Mafa seems to be out for the year. Miles Sanders out for the year. I think the main guy that could come back is Jack Sanborn, especially in that linebacker slot. But um just to note, you can only return one of these players. Now, to get to the reason you probably clicked on this video, the sneaky signing of the Dallas Cowboys, as today they signed a former first team allac running back to their practice squad. Now, there was a lot of comments on the post about them signing this particular player, and it was a lot of media, a lot of fans, and a lot of people saying that this is actually a really, really good signing. And so, um, that’s where we kind of continue on into it. Here’s the official tweet from Dallas Cowboys PR. Um, obviously a good follow if you want to know what’s going on. The Dallas Cowboys designated quarterback Trayvon Digs to return to practice today. Additionally, the club signed running back Israel Abbe I’m going to say this right, Abinandanda to the practice squad. Now, Israel because that’s way easier to say is an interesting back to say the least. Now, if you go to his biography here in ESPN, he was originally drafted in the fifth round by the New York Jets and a native of Brooklyn, New York, it seemed to be a good fit for him, playing his college in Pittsburgh. However, the stats were really nothing to John at. Six games he appeared in having 22 carries, seven receptions, and totaling just over 110 yards. Um, this is an interesting signing for a couple reasons to my personal take, just because of the running back situation the Dallas Cowboys have right now. Um, Israel has played with another team more recently with the Green Bay Packers. He was never activated for official game and really for the most part was just a body a body to have at practice. Either way though, I think this is an interesting signing specifically because of the way the Cowboys have handled their running backs. Um maybe particularly in Shaden Blue. As of right now, here are the quote unquote four running backs. I say four running backs because one of these guys is a fullback on their active roster. Javvante is the bellcow back at this point. Malik Davis looked really good against Kansas City on Thanksgiving. And then past that, Jane Blue has been healthy and active for a majority of this year or just not played. Hunter Lipkkey is the fullback in my opinion. However, he has been used more as a running back this season because, well, quite frankly, they have to. Now, when speaking more about the running back room and what exactly is the notion of it, well, that’s kind of exactly the point. While they signed Israel to the practice squad, he is somebody who can be a depth option because until today, those were the four running backs they had on the roster. Phil Mafa was on the IR. You had Miles Sanders on the IR. And I’ve done my research. I’ve done my due diligence. There is legit nothing online, on Twitter, on Instagram, anywhere suggesting that Phil Mafa, one is anywhere close to returning and two has even the possibility to return this year, which stinks cuz I do really like Phil Mafa. He had a great preseason and I think the Cowboys did like Phil Mafa. Unfortunately though, he’s on IR. And at this point, how deep you are into the season, I don’t think there is a point to try and rush or bring him back at all. Especially with this signing, it makes it even more clear that they’re going to stick with the guys they got. Malik Davis is now going to be an active player on their roster and play majority of that RB2 role. Jane Blue, I don’t know what to tell you at this point. I really did think he was going to be a chance to have the RB1 role by now. Now, I didn’t expect Javvante to be this good, but still, I would have told you if Javvante panned out, RB2 would have easily been Jane Blue. That however is not the case. And so, with this signing of Israel, I do think he is a very good um backup option. Again, a former first team all ACC, he does have a little bit of experience throughout the NFL playing in six games with New York, but also he has experience being a practice squad guy with the Green Bay Packers. And a lot of times, especially down the stretch here, you want extra bodies. You’re not trying to injure your running backs who already put in a lot of work in practice and in some ways a warm body out there to have extra in practices and in drills and in scout team being able to do this. So, I think this is a decent signing and I would not be shocked to see him be pulled up onto the active roster for a couple of games down the stretch. However, I am more intrigued to see what this means for Jaden Blue. what this means for Malik Davis and really as a whole for the Cowboys running back room because in my mind this poses the end of the season for Jane Blue and says to Malik Davis, “All right, you’re not getting cut. You’re going to stay here and you’re going to be our RB2 rule.” Which rightfully so. He deserves it after the performance he put together against the Kansas City Chiefs. Um obviously the big one being that rushing touchdown. So I’m intrigued to see how the way this goes. But again, let me know your thoughts in the comments section about Trayvon Diggs return and the kind of intricacies of that. And also, while you’re down there, let me know if you think Jaden Blue is actually going to play at all the rest this year or any thoughts you have on the running back room. We appreciate you watching. We hope you have a wonderful rest of your Sunday and uh we’ll see you tomorrow as we get more and more injury report statuses heading up to the game um this upcoming week. So, we appreciate you and we’ll see you next time here on Cowboys Digest.

1 don't need him. He made it clear he does not want to be in Dallas. Plus he was terrible and was dead last out of CB's before he went on IR. Also Schotty said he needed to get his head right. Leave his weak non tackling butt off the roster.
Nobody wants to see Diggs return as burnt toast… 🙂↔️🙂↔️🙂↔️
Don't want Diggs. Man is allergic to tackling and gets burned deep way too often.
We don’t need Diggs, Butler will do well
Looks like Blue is not going through nkake it off the practice squad this season. Something really not right with this.
Try him see how he looks going to need a lil time if not pull him fast
Diggs must ball out or don't come back with bull shitt
Emotional non football playing couch potatoes would say we don't need diggs but they need to understand diggs was injured playing hurt to help the team. Diggs is better in man coverage before we had an pressure they had diggs in deep zone smh 3rd and 2 ebuflus have DBs playing 20 yards off. If I was diggs I would be upset too
Diggs is a wannabe Prime, nowhere near, he gets smoked 24/7, always goes for the int & that kills us!
If Diggs is ready, let’s get him out and try to get his value up. Maybe we can use this for an off season trade to get more picks and ensure we get GP paid.
Diggs and Revel on the outside, Bland back in the slot
I like Bland in the slot.
You can never have enough Pass Rushers or Cornerbacks. The Front Office did not care for some of his antics, but only an idiot can call someone a "locker room cancer".
WHEN TEAMMATES speak up, out, and AGAINST Tre Diggs, he may be called a cancer. Until then, it's just dumb, casual fan talking point,… If Diggs is cleared, physically, AND the Coaches, F.O., and team wants him back, then he WILL & SHOULD BE BACK. Give me a former All-Pro Cornerback to go along with D.Bland, Revel and the good, but always hurt, Seatbelt Carson!
To to 10 to 20 folks saying to play T. Diggs, at Free Safety, has he ever played there? And, if not, and people bash his unwillingness to be physical, how would that work?
– Thank You
I put this as a 3 i dont trust him and for the mentally challenged ppl who rep the star when they win but disappear or talk nonsense when they lose..besides being fragile minded what is the knock on Diggs? Right he doesnt tackle slim to none or poorly done..whats the job of a safety? Correct tackling..add it up that's a big hell to the no

Let these young dbs get time
Trade Diggs ASAP he literally faked a concussion because he was mad at the front office 🤣 what a POS! Ship his ass out
Diggs on the chop block after this season…so he betta pull somethin' out his arse for the remaining games!
You can never have enough good players so take a shot if not move on. The reality is he’s not going to be as good as he was and when he was he wasn’t a lock down corner he could be taken advantage of and was his interception at times masked the fact he wasn’t a lock down CB.
He can’t tackle keep him on the bench!
Diggs wouldn't make a good FS, he doesn't like to tackle anymore than he has to.
2026 sleeper cornerback Devon Marshall 5'11 200 North Carolina State 4.41
MALIK DAVIS NEED TO BE RB2 REAL TALKHE'S AN AWESOME BACK.GIVE HIM THE CHANCE TO PROVE IT MALIK.DAVISDC4L SAGINAW MICHIGAN.
Diggs doesn't want to play he's a bum he will get burned can't tackle either.
Jack Sanborn trash as well..
In my opinion, diggs is a liability to the cowboys and why mess up what you have now he plays and gives the receiver to much room he doest have enough speed and he doesn't play like he used too in other words he's not the same since Michael left or traded get rid off him he can't play zone
I don't think they make the playoffs cause they already lost to many games.
I wouldn’t let him come back screw him
If he is fully healthy, I am glad to have him back. People expecting him to be playing at a high level earlier in the year when coming back from an ACL had unrealistic expectations. If nothing else he gives them solid depth and the ability to go with 4 corners in obvious passing situations.
Diggs trash he wanna bait qb ro throw his way but he doesn't have recover speed
Bruh I love them taking a look at Israel Ibankanda
Ship him to the packers 😂😂

I’d say put him in but if he messes up early. Leave him out for the rest of the game
Bro you have a voice of a young Brad Sham!!
A "healthy" Diggs could REALLY help our Defense right now. He's definitely an upgrade from Bridges if he's ready. But Diggs is definitely going to have to work his butt off to get a starting job. Other players have been really steppin up their play here of late.

5 on Diggs I confident about his ability, yet unsure of his health regarding his injury
Blue going to play next year🎉
