PICK-2 AND AN ONSIDE KICK LEAD TO INSANE FINISH | Miami Dolphins Vs New Orleans Saints
Okay, we had one of the craziest endings to a football game you’ll ever see. Now, these two teams, you know, the Dolphins can kind of talk themselves into it at four and seven. Uh, Saints at two and nine. Harder to talk yourself into it, but ultimately you play to win the game as a wise man once said. The Saints are down two points with uh a minute 17 left, only one timeout. So, just scored a touchdown. Obviously, you got to go for two. You see, they’re out to seven. There was a penalty that brought them back to this point. But Tyler Shuck is going to take the snap. He looks over the middle. And is this open? Not really here, right? But, you know, you need the two-point conversion. Like, you know, you’re going to have to hit an onside kick if you don’t uh convert here. So, might as well just take a chance. And as you see, oh no, Minka Fitzpatrick reads that one so well. He’s off to the races. I’m going to have to pause this just for a minute just due to copyright reasons. I’ll resume it in a second. But he returns all the way for the pick, too. And part of you is thinking like, hey, how much does that really matter? You’re probably just going to recover the onside kick anyway. Well, let’s go to the onside kick. So, okay. currently down four points now instead of two. The Saints are going to kick it. It’s a perfect kick going right towards that 10 yardd line. But also watch Jaylen Wadd on this play. He quite frankly is not doing what you want him to do in this situation. You have to charge the ball. Everyone else has to block. The job is to block and trust that Jaylen Wadd is going to recover this ball if it goes 10 yards uh past the line. Sometimes when it’s right at that 10 10 yard mark, guys get a little bit cautious because if it doesn’t go 10 yards, just don’t touch it. The off, you know, the Saints can’t touch it before it reaches 10 yards. So if you don’t touch it and it doesn’t go 10 yards, you’re guaranteed to get possession. But when it’s right at there, you don’t want to touch it too early and give them a chance cuz once you touch it, the kicking team can recover it. Ultimately, he’s too cautious. A Saints player dives on it. But now there’s the question of did the ball go 10 yards? cuz you see he kind of dives on it right at that 10 yard mark and it’s really hard to say. You see here is a situation where the ball goes it bounces up and it’s right here. It, you know, pausing it right here. It looks as though he touches it just before. It’s right at that uh yard marker. It looks as though he touched it right before. It’s not possession. It’s simply when you touch it. But they said that due to the angle of the camera, you can’t say def definitively. Remember the call on the field was that it was a legal touch. They decided this was not undisputable evidence to overturn the call. So, the Saints maintain possession and they get the ball into field goal range. Keep in mind, if Fitzpatrick just knocked that football away, well, they would be able to kick it. Now, the whole strategy would change, but in theory, they would be able to just kick a field goal and win the game. Now, they can’t do it. Now, they need seven here. So, Shuck is going to decide, hey, well, let’s not wait around. Let’s try for it right here. goes to Crystal Lab who has a shot and oh no, ball just kind of goes through his hands. Did the hard part of getting to it. Tough play for sure, but man, that was an opportunity to get the seven points you need to go up three. They ultimately aren’t able to convert there. Then on the fourth down and one again, got to go for it. You can’t kick the field goal here. That that does no good. You’re still down a point thanks to Fitzpatrick’s play. So they decide to go for it. Ultimately, they run the tush push, which that was just not a very well done job by the Saints there. And the Miami Dolphins hold on and survive to go up to five and seven. You have to wonder how things could have been different if Fitzpatrick didn’t get that two-point attempt. Uh, also the, you know, questionable onside kick stuff, you know, ultimately doesn’t end up mattering and the Dolphins are able to win. Crazy finish though.

DEFINITELY A LAME VIDEO WITH LAME NARRATION. END OF STORY. END OF DISCUSSION. PERIOD.
Dude… stop saying "Tush Push." So ridiculous.
Ball donโt lie!
Now you get get free tickets the the Dolphins games.
Oddly enough this isn't the first time a defensive 2-point conversion helped/caused the saints to lose a game. 2016 very little time left they score a TD to tie and the PAT would have put them ahead. It was blocked though and returned for 2 points which was controversial because it looked like the returner may have stepped out of bounds, but his shoes were white so you couldn't tell on replay. They failed the onside kick and that was game. Something something 2 nickels, but its weird that it happened twice
This league is in-fvcking-sane. PUT A CAMERA DIRRECTLY AT TEN YARDS FOR ONSIDE KICKS! JFC the league is run by literal r3t4rds.
Funny the Dolphins are right behind the Chiefs in the AFC playoff picture, and somehow they were underdogs at home vs a team with 2 wins. Easy money on this game.
๐๐๐ I was tough was bufallo vs denver same level but luckiest teams nfl promote this 2 teams for the superbowl always and we still waiting ๐๐ugly ga
Does not matter if it goes 10 yards or not it bounced off a dolphins player
that was painful
To me, it looks like it hit Dolphins #53 in the ankle, especially judging by his reaction. It would make the 10-yard issue moot. The whole thing is moot at this point, but the call was close either way.
I donโt even watch the nfl anymore
Reports suggest a defensive play call was not sent in the play where Fitzpatrick picked off the 2pt conversion. Dobster call the defense cal every person to cover a person. McDaniel knew there were headset issues and did not call a time-out, thankfully the defense made their own call.
What everyone is missing is that if Fitzpatrick had intercepted the pass and simply taken a knee – NONE of the 1:17 left (or whatever) would have mattered. No chance for the onsides kick etc.
Can't see it definitively was such a b.s. cop out. They way angles and perspective work, there is no wat that he didnt touch the ball prior to 10 yards. But refs gosmtta be stupid to manufacture drama
Bad Ref calls…not the only game…weekend
The NFL not including the onside kick on their official highlights tells you everything you need to know, botched call. Bread and Circuses.
Down syndrome game
I thought it was going to be next season before they finally showed the replay.Damn
Pick-2 is a thing? I honestly had no idea.
I mostly stopped watching football after the Chargers left San Diego, so I'm out of the loop. But this is the first time I've heard of a pick-2. Makes sense, but I really never thought about it.
Not a fan of either team. The ball hits the saints players chest before he catches it and this happened clearly short of the 45 yard line.
It did bounce off the dolphins player
He didn't have 10 yards and it wasn't even close. Bad call and it was obvious.
Itโs all manipulated
The WR really sold out his quarterback on that conversion attempt. Stay on your feet!
Coming back to this video after seeing the horrible job the refs did tonight in the Washington game
Refs ruined a lot of major calls today changing games like the colts one too
Instant replay officials should be allowed to add on penalties as well
Herm Edwards
Move on, nothing to see here.
2:55 that is such a Saints thing to do by Chris Olave
