New Orleans Saints Get GREAT NEWS Despite Loss To Miami Dolphins!
[Music] The Saints fell to the Miami Dolphins in week 13. But despite the loss, we do have some good news and I’m going to share it here in just one moment. My name is Trisy Trace Gerard. You’re watching Saints Now by Chat Sports. Thank you for tuning in to our evening edition of our postgame content. Don’t forget to hit the thumbs up icon and subscribe to the channel because we got more coverage coming at you all throughout the week. Now, I’m going to tell you what the great news is here in just one moment, but I want to give you the quick spark notes in case you missed what happened in today’s game. Uh, the Saints offensive line of Swiss cheese. Kell Moore had some bad play calls. The offense was very, very, very bad in the first half. In the second half, you finally started to get to see some things rolling. Some late game heroics by Tyler Shuck by uh Cam Jordan or not by Cam Jordan. He had sacks early in the game, but by late game heroics by Devon Vle, Tyler Shuck, you saw Charlie Smith make a couple of clutch plays. He had the onside kick that almost gave the Saints a chance. You saw Kool-Aid McKinry give you an opportunity tackle for a loss on fourth and one, but it all fell right through your fingertips. And it’s kind of ironic because that’s what happened when Chris Olive got targeted in the end zone to potentially go ahead with less than a minute left. But look, the big issue, it’s very glaringly obvious. It’s Kellen Moore. Um, I’m not going to sit here and call for his job. I’m not going to say he needs to be fired. And I’m not going to say that this should be his only season, but it is fair to say Kell Moore needs to be a better play caller. We had some very, very questionable decisions being made throughout the game. The biggest one in my opinion was on fourth and one at the very end of the game. Why in the hell are we running a QB sneak tushbush slash I don’t know what was going on having Devon Vele pushing you? What the hell are we doing? I mean, I thought Devon Bailey had a hell of a game, and we’re going to talk about him because I think he’s a part of the great news, but Kell Moore was bad today. And I’m going to be honest, it’s getting a little frustrating continuing to have this conversation of Kell Moore, stop trying to reinvent the wheel, stop trying to overthink things, and just run at a productive offense. But I also think it’s fair to say, you need to have a better roster. You need to have more O line help. You need to have more weapons. And quite frankly, I get that. that Kell Moore has been uninspiring and a little bit dull as the play caller. But look, this team’s roster needs a massive overhaul and I think that the offense needs to be a big focus for this team in the offseason. But what’s the great news? Made you wait two minutes because, you know, I wanted to. Here is the great news. The Jets, thanks to Nick Folk for hitting a game-winning 50 plus yard field goal, they beat the Atlanta Falcons. So, first piece of good news, Falcons lost. That’s just always good news. Second piece of good news, Saints lost. Third piece of good news, the Jets won. So you see the draft order. New Orleans through the AM slate of games currently holds the number two overall pick. And ladies and gentlemen, I think that’s great news for any Saints fan moving forward because it’s not about this season. What’s the theme of this year? It’s about building for the future. or the number two overall pick, you can get a prime player to help build for the future. So, what would you do with the second overall selection? Would you use it on a player like Jordan Tyson, Ruben Bane, Arvel Ree, Carnell Tate? Would you go and get like a Jeremiah Love? Would you trade out of it? Would you trade it for another player at another roster? I want to hear from you. Put on your Mickey Lumis GM cap and try to make a good decision. What would you do with the second overall selection? Now, I want to talk about more good news here in just one second, but first things first, we do have a pretty cool sale going on today. If you go to chatports.com jersey, you can get a throwback jersey for over $50 off. It’s $58 off to be totally honest. So, if you want to get a new gift for yourself or for a loved one, the holidays will be here before you know it, and we’re in the midst of holiday shopping season. So, go and get yourself or your loved ones a new Saints throwback jersey. $58 off if you click the link in the comments or description of this video. Now, let’s talk about some more good news. I think Tyler Shuck showed you enough today that makes me feel confident in him as the Saints quarterback going into next year. What I want to say is I don’t think Tyler Shuck has proven to be the greatest thing to happen to football, but what I will argue is that he has proven to be worth the 40th overall pick. And I think he’s done enough to show the New Orleans Saints do not need to draft a quarterback this year. At least they shouldn’t draft a quarterback this year. So, we have had three straight games of Tyler Shuck with over 200 yards, which is awesome. I love to see that. And over those three games, we’ve seen two interceptions, one in Atlanta or one against Atlanta in the game on a gimme on just a throw it fourth down. Got to try to see if something happens. Didn’t really matter. It was the end of the game anyway against Miami threw an interception. It was on the two-point conversion. Ma Fitzpatrick took was it Ma Fitzpatrick? Right. Yeah. Ma Fitzpatrick took it to the house which that was awful. But all in all, I’m not going to sit here and knock Tyler Shuck too much. I think he’s been really impressive throughout his few starts that we’ve seen him get. And again, he’s not a finished product, but the guy has completed 68% or more of his passes in his last three games. And if you go back to all of his starts, 62.5 against the Los Angeles Rams, that’s not amazing, but that’s a good team. And the Panthers, who just beat the Rams, had a 70% completion percentage, 282 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. Look, I thought Tyler Shuck has been giving the New Orleans Saints coaching staff confidence. I think that he’s giving the fan base some confidence. And quite frankly, none of the losses that we’ve seen the Saints suffer since he took over are directly his fault. Like I I think Tyler Shuck has been playing really good considering what he had available. Now imagine 200 plus yards, 230 plus yards in his last three games. Imagine if you had all of the weapons at your disposal. You didn’t trade away Rasheed, you didn’t cut Brandon Cooks, and you had Eric McCoy healthy and the O line could stop a nosebleleed. Imagine if any of those things could happen. Tyler Shuck would be dealing right now and we would be having a very different conversation. And I think that Tyler Shuck, like I said, it’s good news that he’s proving to be worth the 40th overall selection. I know a lot of people still want to see Spencer Rattler get touches. They want to see him on the field. I can understand if you’re a fan of a specific player, but me personally, I’m a fan of this team. I’m a fan of the Saints. I don’t care who’s throwing the football. I don’t care who’s calling the plays. I don’t care who’s catching the football. I don’t care who’s snapping the ball. I don’t care who’s protecting the quarterback. I don’t care who’s getting tackles. I care that my team is doing well and moving in the right direction. And I know that the Saints lost, but it feels like they’re heading in the right direction. Gotta give some love to Devon Beele, too. More good news. Devon Vele, he’s here. He showed us what he’s got. You give him chances. Look what he does. Almost a hundred yards, one touchdown, 11.6 yards per grab. This without a question was Devon Vele’s best game of a as a member of the Black and Gold. They’re making right on that investment in the trade that they made to get Devon, a fourth and a seventh round pick. It seems that they’re finally making right on that investment. And again, this isn’t si me sitting here saying Devon Bailey is gonna be the next great thing to happen to football, gonna be the next Michael Thomas. He’s gonna be the next this that or the other. No, not saying that. But I’m saying the Saints are showing that they’re growing in the right direction. And a big big part of that in my opinion was Devon who had an utterly clutch multiple catches throughout the game. And not to mention, I think his biggest play of the day you could argue is the touchdown he had. I would argue the onside kick he recovered. And you gotta give a lot of credit to Charlie Smith, man. He was the guy who I think had a lot to prove. I think he was a guy who had a ton of pressure on him. And it’s not any pressure in the sense of you’re out of here if you miss a field goal. But look, the Saints have been looking for a kicker. They signed Cade York. They’re clearly not married to any special team guy. Charlie Smith showed up and showed out. Only had one opportunity to go and kick a field goal. The Saints ran two-point conversions. So, he didn’t get an opportunity to go for an extra point, but look, Charlie Smith, 56 yder, ice cold in his veins from Chuck. Shout out to the Irishman. Shout out to Charlie Smith. Show him a little bit of love in the comments. And if you want to show a little bit of love to the show and you want more updates around the black and gold, I highly encourage you to subscribe to Saints Now by Chat Sports. We provide content every single day for Saints fans by Saints fans. So, lock us in if you want more content and more coverage. Now, let’s talk about Devin Neil. I think that he was a little bit of a bright spot. I understand that these stats are not going to jump off the screen, but I think that he contributed in a very nice way in the receiving department. I thought that he was a nice checkdown for Tyler Shuck. I disagree with how he was utilized early in the game, especially like you saw him check out and Evan Hull check in a bunch, but then later in the game, Devin Neil was stacking good run after good run after good run after good run. And so with him Again, you have an improved offensive line and I really think that this guy is going to start doing some good things and I I just I I really like Devin Neil, but I want to see a little bit more. I want to see him get that first touchdown. I want to see him average four or five yards a carry. Like I’m not asking for a ton here, but I want to see Devin Neil continue to give me a little bit of confidence because I like right now if I had to say it, it’s like the spark you you got the lighter. It’s like the Lil Wayne like the Lil Wayne lighter flick. That that’s Devin Neil. He’s a spark, but we got to get the gas going so that way he can stay the fire and he can keep burning. Cam Jordan, I thought that he was really great today, man. Um, great news. Cam Jordan’s not watched. Uh, great news, the Saints got Todd Grantham out of New Orleans and he was a football terrorist and now we don’t have to worry about him. Cam Jordan had two sacks today. It’s his 30th multi-sack game. I mean, dude, he’s getting he’s putting together a really nice season. I I gotta give a lot of credit to Cam, man. Like, he’s making plays. He’s stopping the run. He’s creating pressure. Like, great news. Cam Jordan still got it. Other good news, Kool-Aid McKinstry growing in the right direction. He logged an interception. He had a really, really clutch tackle for a loss. That gave the Saints an opportunity to go and win later in the game. Here is the interception. So, what happened is the Saints, they fumbled the ball. Was it a fumble or it was a pick? It was a fumble. They turn the ball over and the Dolphins now have all the momentum in the world. Very first play, Tua corks it, goes for a deep shot to Jaylen Wadd and Alabama on Alabama crime. Kool-Aid McKinstry comes up with the pick in the end zone to give the Saints a little bit of life and give them a little spark on the defense. Got to give some credit to Kool-Aid McKinstry. He’s had some ups, he’s had some downs. He’s been one of those players that’s been a little bit inconsistent in my opinion, but he’s somebody that I believe is still getting better. And I think that he is still growing in a big way. And to be totally honest, he keeps putting up some good moments. I I think the Saints are going to start really reaping these benefits very soon. I really like the tandem of Alante or of Kool-Aid McKinley and Quincy Riley. I think that Quincy Riley had a couple of moments where it it really kind of got screwed. Big one that sticks out to me was the throw, the pick. Quincy Riley gets under it. They said it touched the ground. He didn’t have control. BS. That was utter Quincy Riley got a pick. The NFL should be ashamed of themselves for taking that away from Quincy Riley. It was nonsense. It was ridiculous. And quite frankly, I want to protest it because Quincy Riley should have an interception on today’s game. And look, I think that he’s going to be hungry moving forward. So, I want to see him continue to ball out and continue to put up some good moments. And what’s a Saints Now video without talking about Danny Stsman? Doesn’t exist. We’re talking dirty little stut over here. The cracker with the juice. Brought the fire. Brought the energy. I think he was a spark like the Andrew Jaser spark bunny or whatever. I think that he that’s what he was for the Saints defense. At one point, I tweeted out the highlight. Highly encourage you to go check it out. Danny Stsman early in the game. Devon AJ running to the right side, trying to get out, trying to set the edge here. Danny Stsman runs in. And if y’all have watched WWE or you watch TNA or you watch wrestling, so Goldberg, Edge, Spear, it was like Braun Breaker diving through. It was Braun Breakeresque. It was Rhino. Gore. Gore. Gore. That’s what we saw. That’s what we saw from Danny Studsman. He lit up Devon AJ. Didn’t do a ton throughout the rest of the game, but he was around the ball. He was making plays. He was assisting at tackles. He was creating problems for the Dolphins offense. So, a lot of good news here. I know the Saints lost and I know that this may sound like loser talk, but let’s recap the good news. First things first, the Saints have the number two overall selection. The world is their oyster when you have the number two overall pick. Second piece of good news, feels like the Saints, at least for the near future, have their quarterback. Third piece of good news, kicker resolution has been made. Fourth piece of good news, Saints have made right on the Devon Vele trade, at least in today’s game. Fifth piece of good news, Cam Jordan still got it. Sixth piece of good news, Quincy Riley, Kool-Aid McKinstry, they’re bringing the juice, they’re bringing the energy, and they are starting to really turn into some fine football players. The last piece of good news, Danny Stzman is a part of your football team. Now, I appreciate you guys for rocking and roll with us in our PM edition of Saints Down by Chat Sports. I hope y’all are enjoying Sunday Night Football. Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend. What would you do with the 2nd overall pick?
Danny is a Beast replace Pete ASAP he's 🗑️!!!!
Not with Mickey Mousedumbass. making the pick.
Welcome to the 9 month vacation even with 5 games to go
68 percent, but not in putting up points.
trade down!!!!! stockpile picks
The saints are gonna end up with the 4th overall pick at the end of the season most likely
Can’t put up Points to save his life Seems like 17 is the ceiling.
did absolutely nothing the entire first half and threw a pick at the most important time.
3 turnovers on the game… but sure shough looked good.
Tired of the bias man
Trade back get additional high picks. We need more impact players not projects
I know shough doesn't have any weapons but still I'm not convinced I would try with Mendoza. And also wtf Kellen is he the guy? 🙁 feel sad for the season but still a saint⚜️ who dat
He also threw a pick during a drive in the game.
Not a rattler fan but he was doing the same thing with the same roster and was actually competing so much more!
Keep the pick ⚒️
How do we have the 2nd pick when we beat the Giants and we currently have the same record?
Trade back to around the 7th or 8th pick (if possible). get an extra 2nd round pick. Then 2 words: Jeremiyah Love. We need to be feared!
The road not taken 🤦🏾♂️
did you forget about his other pick?
What did the Shuckster do that showed you he is the QB next year? Was it the interception? Was it the fumble? Was it the pick 2? Was it the sacks?
Charlie boy kicked that 56 yarder with 7 or 8 more on it right up the middle. Vele locked in and can be just like Colston if the play calling on point. #WhoDat4Life
GET RID OF KELLIN MOORE
More props for Danny Stutsman. Should be a starter in the NFL.
Saint front office needs an enema.
Please hope that we beat the bucks
Shough is playing way better than Kellen Moore is coaching… I think Tyler will be a solid QB1, he’s playing really well in spite of Kellen Moore terrible game plan and play calls. I’d much rather let KM go than draft a QB in the first round next year…
Really like our new kicker from Ireland ! Next year will be better with some "new" plays and maybe new coaches ? Gotta believe ! Sure miss Brees ! He was our moment of glory! (Miami didn"t shine that much either)
Fire micky Lomis and really clean house
It's a tale of two teams,,,,Denver vs the saints
Unfair? No, it's just what personal evaluation can do for a team
It's a dumpster fire
It doesn't matter what pick we have, if we can't pick the right personal
Don’t pay Olave
He has some dumb ass takes bruh
QB pass protection NONEXISTENTENT
Catch the damn ball, olave
This is more or less evaluation season for Kellen Moore. I expected no more than 7 wins for his first season. As fans, we need to continue to maintain the same rule of standard we applied for Dennis Allen at the same time. Kellen's 2nd season needs to be 9 or more wins. 3rd season needs to be a minimum of 10+ wins & a wild card berth. 4th year and after need to be nothing short of deep NFC & possible Super Bowl contention with a rebuilding season or retooling season once every so often.
Trade down. Get more picks. Not to far down though.💪⚜️
Tylers better than rattler
Hey they battled today
He's called great games everywhere he's gone, what's happening here?
Bro you suck as a podcaster…. You sound generic and boring af….
Now address the IOL, WR, S, TE, and IDL in the offseason and we’ll be good
DO NOT DRAFT A QB! O line help, big WR, big TE, DB help, D line/extra edge rush and LB. Pray Charlie Smyth continues to keep making kicks. Can always find a punter somewhere. But yeah, just keep improving this year and get continuity for next year.
U said it right the first time Jordan Tyson
yet rattler wasn't afforded the same optimism even though week after week it wasn't his fault
Make trizzy the new gm
Please draft a first round QB an put pieces around him
I think Shough was a mixed bag in this game, but more good than bad. I he'd be better if Kellen Moore cleans up his play calling. A lot of his play calls are frustrating, to say the least.
Now us losing and getting 2nd round pick is a big deal and good thing since u realize we weren’t going anywhere or winning at all😂😂😂 took u long enough to realize
