I want Sanders to be the guy so badly but I’m really bothered by that last 4th and long.

Holding onto the ball and then scrambling for a couple yards tells me he either doesn’t understand the most basic of game situations or he doesn’t want an interception on his stat line. If either of those is true, that’s a serious red flag.

Am I overreacting to that one essentially meaningless play or was that a fatal flaw showing through?

  1. oh jeez he’s only been doing that his whole career. i wonder if it will keep being a problem?

  2. Go watch the highlights of Seahawks vs Vikings to see what happens when a QB blindly throws the ball on 4th down to avoid a sack.

  3. Idk, game seemed beyond over by that point anyway.

There was another play where he seemed to think he could outrun a NFL defender and was easily caught.

However, holding onto the ball too long does seem like something that can be improved with more reps/time.

  4. It’s hard to say without knowing what he was being told to do from the sideline. He could have been told to take a shot if something was open and backup was to use his legs to try and get a first down

  5. The last 4th down when the game was over? What did you want him to do? Throw a medicine ball? Try to run over some players for the sake of doing so?

If nobody is open, nobody is open.

  6. I love Shedeur’s confidence but he……holds…….the……..ball……..waaaaaaaaaay……..toooooo……..looooong.

  7. Yes and no. It depends on what you’re expecting. I expect Shadeur Sanders to play like a fifth round rookie that could easily have gone undrafted. He puts the ball downfield and threw a highlight reel TD but he also made a lot of mistakes. The NFL is sink or swim and, as Dillon Gabriel learned, you’ve got to do it quickly. Sanders has to sink or swim but at the end of the day expecting him to come in and spark the browns of all teams is…unlikely.

  8. It wasn’t one bad play it’s been two mediocre at best games. And an awful half before that.

I don’t have anything against the kid personally, but he just hasn’t looked that good. Which is kinda expected because the entire league thought he was a fifth rounder at BEST. Sadly he was sent to a Jimmy Haslam organization

  9. That play was not the bad one. It was him missing several checkdowns because the man panics and tries to run around like he’s Mike Vick but won’t actually run.

  10. “Doesn’t want an interception to pad his stats” yes you just summed up his college career. Ate alot of terrible sacks instead of throwing the ball away to pad his completion percentage

  11. Its browns football , who gives a fuck. They suck, and always will. Haslam is moving the team to a dome, why do you even support this trash? Fuck em. Quit giving them money, and maybe shit will change.

  12. He has the speed of Brady and thinks he can scramble.

He needs to realize he’s Phillip Rivers.

  13. He is a rookie making rookie mistakes. The question I have is the Brown’s coaching staff good enough to develop the talent he has? I guess the other question I have will the Brown’s actually acquire players that will help any QB we have on the field?

  14. It doesn’t help that his worst trait is compounded with the worst WR corp in the league.

Does anyone have historical numbers to back up how bad our WRs compared to past teams?

  15. You’re overreacting. The game was already lost and nobody was open why would he risk injury or throw it up for grabs for no reason

  16. I just hope Browns don’t overreact to his evaluation bc it’s almost impossible to know how good he potentially can be within this offensive scheme and supporting cast. Problem is it’s going to take numerous good offseasons to get this offense fixed or hopefully a new coach and scheme.

  17. I really wish I didn’t wake up to this post 🤣. This play pissed me off something serious lol. I was up until 11p telling my woman about this play specifically lol 🤦🏾‍♂️. It’s 4th and 26 and he decided to scramble for 5-7 yards and go down into a soft slide instead of throwing the ball downfield, yes, because he did not want an INT.

It’s a numbers game at that point. 25% Chance our guy catches it. 25% PI call. 25% INT. 25% incomplete pass. And realistically it’s more like 33% we catch it. 33% PI call or 33% INT… the numbers are in our favor just THROW THE FUCKING BALL BRO!!!! Throw it!! Just throw it!!!

I wouldn’t have even been upset had he committed to scrambling and just ran, but he didn’t even wanna scramble. You could tell he wanted to throw it, he just decided not to.

Buddy had some other bad plays but imo this was the worse of them all because from a football perspective, it just did not make sense.

On a positive note lol because there’s still something to be positive about here, he’s definitely a project but every one of his issues “can be” coached out of him. They “can be” corrected. It’ll take time and work but they are fixable problems.

  18. Defenders of Sanders blame the oline and bad receivers for his issues. Just pointing out, Gabriel played with the same groups……..
