Jays Trade Talks ESCALATING… Report Reveals WILD Trade | Toronto Blue Jays News
This has Jay’s fans split. As Jay’s trade reports really start to heat up, some new rumors and reports have dropped surrounding one player that not only has Jay’s fans split, but of course has big implications as we approach the winter meetings very shortly. We’re going to break down these new reports and discuss what it means going forward, as well as a new update surrounding the New York Yankees that has surprise implications on the Toronto Blue Jays. You’re going to want to stay tuned till the very end of this video. Ton to go over today, folks. But before we get into it all, if you’re a part of the percentage who aren’t subscribed to the channel, quick reminder, hit the subscribe button. Ladies and gentlemen, a lot to go over today. And obviously, the Jays were in the midst of a crucial offseason. They made the World Series. It’s about how they bounced back. And there’s been some wild rumors floating lately about a trade, Steven Quan, and that is the player we’re going to be diving into today. And of course, yesterday I had a video on Joey Lovito about how he, you know, could be on the trade block. But a new article dropped. Now, this article is from November 12th. We have new updates that dropped, you know, yesterday into, you know, this morning and things like that. But I want to start off with this because we think back to July, the trade deadline, right, when all those things were happening. The Jays were in on guess who? Stephen Quan. Now, let’s dive into this first and then we’ll dive into some of the newer updates. But let’s start with this. You can see here the Blue Jays are named as one of three teams that could be perfect landing spots for Steven Quan. And we know they had their World Series run, all these different things. And it served them well throughout the season into October. The way they played baseball, right? What the defensive first mindset, but also hitting some home runs, but hitting for, you know, average as well. Now, Steven Quan is the epitome of what Ross Aack, as I’m sure, loves and looks for in a Toronto Blue Jay. But there’s been some rumblings as of late about the Jays being interested in a trade for Stephen Quan, specifically specifically if they don’t get Kyle Tucker. Now, you can also see this here. Now, there was a tweet on November 15th talking about how for the Guardians, they plan to utilize some of their younger guys, and this article dropped very recently, and it’s a trade idea sending Steven Quan to the Toronto Blue Jays. The second idea is for Steven Quan of the Cleveland Guardians. The Blue Jays have had a lot of success trading with the Guardians and of course since they took over just last season alone. I mean, they’ve worked with the Guardians a lot. He would be a good fit in the outfield. Brings exactly what they already have, which is great contact speed and fielding. And then again, from the Guardian side of things, we know early in the offseason, they basically said they might want to use some of the young guys, and they’re willing to trade guys like Steven Quan and John Haymon and others have come out and said recently that, you know, Stephen Quan is up for grabs if it is for a reasonable package. All of this to say, the question mark now remains a the main reason they’d go and I think the plan at this point for the Toronto Blue Jays is to resign Bobette. We’ll have an update in that later in the video, but it’s to resign Bobette and then make a trade for another impact bat. And where fans are split because a lot of people online, I’m curious to see what you guys think about it. Some people say, “Okay, go ahead and get Stephen Awan. He’s a great defender. He’s a very good contact hitter. He’d fit this team well.” Others are saying his bat doesn’t move the needle enough. You know, some people won’t rather Nathan Lucas there. Some people would want to, of course, have a better option. And that’s where the discussion begins because in order to get Steven Quan, the Yankees have been heavily involved lately. There’s been some mock trades thrown around about Spencer Jones, one of their top prospects straight up for Steven Quan, and we’ll dive into some trades and things like that, you know, momentarily here. But last season, he had 170 hits and 620 and 625 at bats, a 272 average. didn’t hit for a ton of power. 11 home runs, of course, 56 RBI’s, 21 stolen bases. He’s not going to hit for a lot of power, but he would add into the peskiness of this team. You can see there on the left, obviously 2024 was his really good year, 793 ops. Last year, barely broke 700. And this is where it becomes interesting because you’d have to give up a lot of top prospects for him or at least a marquee prospect. Now whether that’s Arjun Namala, whether that’s Ricky Tedman, there’s a lot of different names that you could throw out there. I would suspect that the Jays go out and actually acquire him, it would probably be for something like Ricky Tedman and a few of the, you know, midlane prospects. But again, I’m sure the Yankees wouldn’t mind making a run for Steven Quan. And you could see here only the Royals struck out less than than Toronto Blue Jays in 2025, which we know. And Quan does exactly that. But does it get redundant? And that’s the question I’m going to ask you folks because we know there’s been a lot of writers and in this case a couple of Blue Jays writers were asked, “Do you think trades are on the horizon here?” And trades aren’t quite off the table for the Blue Jays, especially after what they accomplished this year. And you can see Ian going on to say it wouldn’t be an offseason if the Jays didn’t swing a deal. And that’s where things are interesting. We know Ross Atkins is a trade merchant to a degree. And if they get Bo Bashette, their master plan, if you want to call it that, is slowly but surely, I think if they sign Bob Bashette, going to become clearer and clearer cuz they want to get an impact bat in the outfield. I’m not convinced they’re they want to rock left field being a Nathan Lucas Davis Schneider platoon right now. At the same time, you could argue, you know, maybe throw Addison Burgger in the mix in the outfield, things like that. Santandere is obviously coming back. I’m sure you could figure out, maybe you move Ber to left a little bit, maybe you, you know, throw things around Santandere in left field. You don’t need necessarily another impact bat, but I think they really want one. And I’m not saying Steven Quan is that impact bat that they’re looking for because you look at some of the prospects like would you be willing to give Arjun Amala for Quan? I don’t think so. I, you know, maybe consider Ricky Tedman. If the Guardians want an MLB ready bat, Gage Stander probably not like Johnny King, Ricky Tedman, somebody like that. I’d probably start to debate it just because yes, Steven Quan isn’t a perfect player. He is a great defender. It would add to the defense. It’s not really what this team needs, which is some more thump. But at the same time, we know Ross Atkins has dealt with the Guardians multiple times. We know that this is what they like to do and they need a bat. That’s their next priority. Now, Kyle Tucker, Cody Bellinger, Boashette. Let’s bring Bob back and then make a trade for a guy like I would prefer Catel Marte, but Steven Quan is, you know, they’re very different players, but at the same time, we’ll have an update in a minute here. If they don’t want to go for Kyle Tucker, I still think if they bring back Boette and they prioritize that you should make another move for another bat. I think that’s something that would really put this team over the top now. We know they need a reliever and maybe some of you guys won’t even think they need to add another bat. They can run back the same offense as last year if you bring back Bob Shed. We can account for a fully healthy Anthony Santandere. But can you account for a great breakout, not breakout, but a great resurgence season like George Springer had last year? I’m not so sure. Can Ernie Clement keep up what he’s done? like probably, but I’m not entirely sure. You know, how will Andre Amen fare? Full-time shortstop probably increases his value, but will Bo be willing to play shortstop or second base full-time. There’s so many question marks that getting a bat would answer. Not the shortstop stuff, but a lot of the potential regression, even, you know, potential aggression from Nathan Lucas and others. So, that’s where I’m at with it. Very interesting. And I would like Steven Quan just because he’s a good baseball player who makes their his team better, but at the same time, I wouldn’t give up some crazy prospects. And fans are pretty split about the idea. I think if you get Bobette probably, you know, aim higher via trade, whether that’s Catel Marte, I know there’s some rumblings out there about, you know, Nolan Aronado and then moving things around. Let me know down below what your thoughts are because a new report has dropped about the Yankees revealing that it seems they’re preparing their fan base for disappointment. So, Cashman yesterday said there’s certain salary levels that will tag out at. That’s yet to be determined. At times, we’ve driven hard and still not gotten things done because the markets take it. Whether it was Yoshinobi Yamamoto or Juan Sto, they go on and on to places you never expected. So it seems like they’re bracing, you know, their fan base for the possibility of another team signing in this case either Cody Bellinger or probably Kyle Tucker because they’re out of the price range and this has spurred speculation. You can see here Tucker going to fall into our laps and we will decide to sign Bo after him and it’s a meme of some guy smashing his keyboard. So, I don’t know if this is necessarily, you know, the truth, but if Tucker’s available, I personally would rather him over Bobette just as a player. I understand the chemistry. I understand the sentiment with Bobette there. But if this is the case, right, and the Yankees aren’t willing to spend a lot, I think that’s even more of a reason for the Jays to go allin. Now, I don’t think they’re going to get both Bo and Kyle Tucker. I think that’s the unlikely scenario, though still possible. They want a reliever. If you bring Boba back, which it seems like they want to do, make a trade for somebody else. It doesn’t have to be Steven Quan, maybe Catel Marte, maybe someone we’re not talking about, which is the way Ross Atkins always goes about it, but they’ve had interest in Quan in the past. They made a trade multiple times or made trades multiple times with the Guardians, including the most recent trade with the Guardians, of course. Well, the biggest one rather was Andre Jimenez. Do it again and see if you can get Steven Quan at a discount, though. The Yankees, I’m sure, will be calling and it’ll be interesting whether they include guys like Joey Loito in the package. Could make it enticing, but it seems like I don’t think they do that because they want to obviously play some of the young guys. The Jays are among landing spots, but some new reports have have dropped revealing that it’s more likely than we initially thought. Let me know down below what side of the coin you’re on. Do you want them to trade for Stephen Quan? Do you think it’s not much of an upgrade? Let me know down below what your thoughts are. Thank you guys for watching. See you later. Ch.

Get rid of Davis Schneider first in a package we don’t need any 200 hitters
Kwan is basically another Nathan Lukes which is a league average hitter. Kwan is not an impact bat. Giving up top prospects for a league average hitter is ludicrous.
Vlad 162G WAR = 4.3
Kwan 162G WAR = 4.6
Varsho can go please
yes get Stephen kwan
Not that I am opposed to having Steven Kwan, but I think if the Jays spring for another bat (in addition to Bo), they need to go all out and go hard after Tucker. Although, as mentioned, I think Kwan's defense and the fact that he's won Gold Gloves in every season he's played would be very appealing to Atkins. In either case, Tucker or Kwan would be an upgrade over Nathan Lukes, but I still say the Jays need to go all out and get Tucker to become one of the top offensive teams in the MLB for years to come.
Looking at the "Value Rankings" for Steven Kwan, it shows great defence (95th percentile), average baserunning (53rd percentile) and below average hitting (34th percentile). He is a close match for Miles Straw (91st percentile on defence, about 90th percentile on baserunning, and about 30th percentile on hitting). Basically, Kwan has a much better arm than Straw but is also much slower than him. Both are about the same value at the plate.
So why give up prospects for essentially the same player as you already have? I say no.
BIG IMPLICATIONS!!
The Blue Jays didn’t lose the World Series because of a lack of enough defense. They lost it because they couldn’t hit enough home runs. Resign Bo and go after Tucker.
Who's split about this? Kwan in the leadoff spot instantly makes this team better. Cleveland wants to dump salary. It fits the Cleveland to Toronto pipeline narrative. Kwan has been a killer at the top of their lineup when we played them. He's an elite defender. He's the perfect "David Popkins can elevate him" bat. I like Lukes, but Kwan's an upgrade.
OPS is also misleading with a guy like Kwan. He's a prototypical leadoff hitter. He sets the table for guys like Vlad and Barger. His OPS will be lower because he's not trying to drive the ball out of the yard as a result. You'll get the pop from other guys because he'll get on base for them.
Give me Steven Kwan over Kyle Tucker and especially Ketel Marte every day of the week.
is there a third side
Kwan doesn’t really move the needle and signing Bo makes Clements expendable because 2nd should be his position. Spend the Bo money towards Tucker, and/or Imai. Use the trade capital of Scneider, Lukes, Straw, Berrios, for bullpen help. If you waste money on Bo you’re not improving, you’re just running it back.
Kwan is a great lead off and is great defensively I believe he would be an upgrade to Varsho. Then they could turn around and trade Varsho to try and pick up another top-tier player via trade. Kwan leading off followed by Springer, Vladi and Bo wow!
I'd be willing to trade Tiedeman and Varsho, or Tiedeman and Santander, for Kwan and Cade Smith, but only if we sign Tucker or Bo. It would seem that the Cleveland Guardians are becoming our de facto farm club. (Bieber, Giménez, Sandlin, Straw)
Yes to Kwan over Tucker all day- great, well rounded player and brings a tough out to the plate
Good Lad. Totally disagree with You. Anytime you can trade Suspects for a bonified upgrade, You do it! Mr. Kwan is a true Pofessional. Thanks for sharing.
Not trading Ricky here. A young lefty who throws upper 90s? When have we ever had that? Never.
Stop begging BJs 😂😅
I'm a no on trading Tiedemann. I'd have him potentially as a high leverage lefty out of the pen while trying to stretch him to be a cheap starter next yr.. Giving Jays more cheap options to 3 potential expiring pitchers because if Berrios has a good year as you'd want, he will opt out to Gausman & Bieber both being UFA's. Ideally Jays replace Berrios sooner ….
lol, the Jays dont need Kwan. Offense isnt a problem, resign Bichette and the team will be fine. Lukes and Schneider platoon is pretty good.
Wow. A real tonne you went over again and the major implications. Just crazy 🤪
Nope this is a horrible idea. Get Bo, get relievers like diaz, suarez, williams, fairbanks
