Carolina Panthers pounce on turnovers for upset win vs. LA Rams | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC
They still haven’t seen our best football yet. All right. We’re going to put this thing together, the whole thing, right? But it’s about how we battle, making plays when it counts. But the bottom line is we just fight. We don’t know how to do anything else but just keep fighting and we always finish cuz that’s who we are. Beautiful day. Hey, man. Way to fight and be resilient. We got the by week finally and then y’all get back here, man. We got to get ready to go to work. We got to go get it now. Hey, family on 3 1 2 3. Panthers get one of the most surprising wins of the day yesterday. And the Panthers have been this team where every time they get my attention. Yeah. They fall flat. Right. Right. Right. Right. They’re starting to build some momentum and they lose it home to the Saints 17 to7. And then they have this Monday night game where hey they got a chance to go have a statement win against the 49ers and did they even throws three interceptions and they still can’t do anything. They run the ball 11 times I think with their tailbacks. They they they didn’t do that yesterday and it’s one of the reasons why they won the game but they pull off the 31-28 victory over the Rams who were widely regarded generally accepted best team in the NFL. They came into the game with a nine and two record and they they had a little problem in Carolina. And it’s not like they get shut down. It’s just that Carolina did enough. I think that’s the mindset you have to have with the Rams. You’re not going to shut them down or shut them out. They’re going to score their points. Puganaku is going to make his catches. Devonte Adams is going to score his touchdowns. You just have to stop them enough times and your offense has to get going. And that’s what they did. The three turnovers were the difference. That That’s right. I mean, I think you look at it and like we just heard Dave Canales say, right? You know, we got to make plays when it counts. That’s big. Okay. But yeah, when you’re a team that’s on the road and you throw an interception as you’re going in to score and you throw another interception with a pick six and then you get strip sacked and fumble on the way in to score again. I don’t care who you’re playing. You could be playing, you know, any the worst team in the history of the NFL and the game’s going to be close when it comes to that right there, Mike. So, yes. I mean, the Rams, there was a lot of good, especially on the offensive side of the ball. They were unstoppable all day yesterday on the offensive side of the ball. I mean, it was seven and a half yards per play. They only ran 51 plays. That’s kind of insane. That that means that just it was run up the middle for seven, throw for seven. I mean, whatever they wanted. So, that wasn’t the issue. But, like you said, it was the turnovers certainly. I think it was the fact that the Rams never quite got the game on their terms because of the turnovers. The Rams want to get you down. Get you down by a score or two. Then unleash the defense and then unleash our we got a we have a fast front four that can be creative and go all over the place and now we kind of make you pass centric, right, and force you into that mold and they get you in the game. They want to get you kind of what the Cowboys do. I hear you. You’re right. A little bit. They just a better version of it. But I hear you. Exactly right. So here’s here’s this case where the Rams because of the turnovers they kind of had to play catch-up all game and because of that Carolina got to stay with their bread and butter and their bread and butter and when they look the best is when they run the ball they have a big overpowering offensive line and then they just ask hey Bryce Young make a smattering of plays instead of carry the team like he might have needed to do last week where not sure he’s capable of doing that yet but you run the ball a little bit your defense creates a few turnovers and And then he can be clutch in a few moments and there you go with really I mean is that the biggest victory of Dave Canales’s career so far, right? I think so. Because they’ve had opportunities for a signature win. This is an out of the division big game against the team that was widely regarded as the top team in the NFL. The Panthers by all appearances were motivated by all the talk. You know, I’m sick of hearing about the Rams. I’m sick of hearing about Matthew Stafford. Mike Jackson’s comments after the game were hilarious. Hilarious. They’re really good and Mike Jackson had that pick six and that was the first moment that we were like, “Yeah, oh, something can happen here.” Panthers didn’t get the memo that they’re supposed to play the role of the Washington Generals to the Harlem Globe Troters of the NFL right now and let Matthew Stafford do the no look passes and create some highlights and let them get up to what it would what would it have been 10 and two. Yeah. I’m so glad the buys are ending. I’m so glad that I don’t have to stop and think that’s the one thing I don’t like. stop and think, do they play a how how many game but they’re they would have been 10 and two instead they’re nine and three and they won’t be the number one team in the power rankings and I’m kind of glad the Broncos around just because it would have been chaos at the top if the Broncos hadn’t managed to pull off the win last night obviously we’ll be talking about that one coming up. Do you see anything from the Rams because I think back to what the Vikings did to the Lions, right? If the Vikings have one thing they can be proud of this season, it’s that they kind of provided everyone the game plan, the blueprint for defending the Lions, passing game, pressure up the middle on Jared Goff, get him off the spot and it kind of starts to short circuit. Is there anything that that other teams should take away from what former Rams defensive assistant EJ Ever, now the Panthers defensive coordinator, did to the McVey offense. I I I don’t know if there’s anything you can really glean there, right? We just talked about I mean, they they had their way. I mean, you you you said it, right? I mean, we saw a number of plays in the pass game. The run game is ridiculous. They ran for 150 yards and only had 20 attempts running the ball. That’s kind of insane, too. So, I, you know, I don’t know if there’s anything you can really look at that way other than, you know, I think this is what you, you kind of alluded to it a minute ago. When you play the Rams, they’re so on fire right now on the offensive side of the ball. You got to hope they just make a mistake or two. It’s a little bit that way. It’s a little bit like, whoa, what do you want to do? You overplay the run. They’ll dice you up in the pass game with McVey and Stafford and Puka and everybody there and Devonte Adams, but you overplay, oh, we got to double Puka and we got to try to stop Devonte and the intermediate pass game. We know they can run the ball. So, no, I don’t know if there’s anything I look at there. I think the big thing is just that they were able to keep the game close and within that allowed them to run the football. And then, I mean, if we don’t if you don’t mind, guys, go back and show that Carolina little packet we just showed of Bryce Young. I mean, Bryce Young, and we talk about this every week. I mean, and we got a lot of teams like this where it’s not always about being your best all game long. It’s just being at your best in the biggest moments and the got to have it moments. Here you see the big scramble, right? He threw the ball well in the rain. I think that was big. But when you convert two fourth and a fourth and three for a touchdown and then here’s another fourth and four or fourth and five for another touchdown and a and a got to have it moment. Yeah. And you combine that with all the turnovers we talked about with the Rams and the fact that Carolina could run the ball and control the clock a little bit. I don’t think there’s anything crazy here. I think the kind of the formula there kind of just hits us all in the face. The Rams were a little off. They made some mistakes. Carolina was focused and played, you know, some of their best football that we’ve seen them play. Hi, it’s Mike Florio. Thanks for watching PFT on YouTube. They wont talk about how the rams only got 1 flag and the panthers got 7 flags and 70 yards. Questionable refs
You two are just sad mass media clowns that refused to give the winning team credit. It is so sad you spend most of this video talking about a bunch of losers.
These 2 are clowns
The town of LA has it's tentacles everywhere. Rams love is Hollywood love. But what about your immortal soul? Do not drink the Chunky Soup!
The Carolina Panthers franchise has been disrespected their entire existence. Standard.
Chris Simms hates to say anything nice about the Panthers. They ended his mediocre career when they destroyed his spleen. He is baised and one of the worst football commentators in the industry.
Show us on the doll where the Carolina Panthers touched you. This hate for the team feels personal.
How can u be surprised?. As soon as the Media started crowning the rams and hyping them up. You knew it was for a let down!. Seen this coming a mile away
They ainβt gotta like us but they will RESPECT us.. KEEP POUNDING π―
Panthers outplayed rams and Vegas plain and simple
What's wrong with sports media is so many ppl talking about football but can't be honest and tell the truth give credit to the team that won, always making excuses why their favorite team lost.. Just give credit where credit is do, just humble yourself and be honest for one day in your life…
You mean Stafford canβt beat the panthers third string safety and 4th/5th string corners !?
This is the Panthers winning formula: Opportunistic defense forcing turnovers, offense controlling the clock with sustained drives. A heavy dose of the run game to limit opponents time/opportunities to score. Finally, Bryce Young makes crucial plays (occasionally) without being expected to carry the offense.
Give the panthers credit. Without their top corner linebacker and safety our defense stepped up and we played more physical shed discipline football
The Rams lost and your focus is on the Rams and not on the Panthers that beat them. Typical.
Rico =bread Chubba = butter
π€ππ€ππ€keep pounding!!!
The beauty of football .. ANYGIVEN SUNDAY!! KEEP POUNDING!!! π―
The panthers o-line fucking dominated the rams
Yes, this is the best win, but they beat the Packers . The issue with Carolina as a young team that they're inconsistent .
The underdogs did it again!!
π€πββ¬πππ
2 big ole clowns π€‘
i think we can confidently conclude that the thing holding back the panthers all these years was the meowmix carolina panthers podcast
