Cincinnati Bengals Playoff Hopes ALIVE: Path to Postseason & Joe Burrow’s Impact
The Bengals beat the Ravens on Thursday night and they got some help today. The latest on the Bengals playoff chances. Yes, there’s a chance and there could be more than a chance if they keep on winning. Let’s break it all down right now on Cincinnati Bengals Talk. Hi again everyone and welcome in to CBT. And I’m looking here and I’m like, boy oh boy, it’s about to be December 1st and the Bengals playoff chances, well, they’re still there. They still exist. And the Bengals, they helped themselves on Thursday night when Joe Burrow returned. They beat the Ravens 32 to4. So they gain a game on the Ravens. And our our friends in Cincinnati, the Buffalo Bills, and and I do know a lot of people in Cincinnati that root for the Buffalo Bills uh when they’re not rooting for the Bengals. Uh well, they helped out the Bengals on Sunday with a huge victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. It ended up being 26-7. So shocker. I’m going to have to update my article that I posted on banglesalk.com because I put 23-7 and I will do that as uh I talk to you right now. There we go. 26-7. Look, what does this do? Well, it means the Steelers are also 6-6. It means the Steelers have lost three out of four games. That lone win being over the Bengals. But the Steelers are 6-6. The Ravens are six- teams play next week. The Bengals 4-8. Two games back behind those two teams. They go to Buffalo. they pay play the Bills next Sunday and that’s it. That’s what you’re talking about. Now, if you’re the Bengals, you obviously have to control what you can control and focus on that and that’s it, right? And and I totally get it. You’re going to hear from Joe Burrow in a second on that. But I look at it and I’m like, “Okay, well, yeah, you’re gonna have to beat Buffalo.” But Baltimore, if they handle business against the Steelers, well, that’s a loss for Pittsburgh that they can’t really afford to have right now. If you beat the Bills, then that next week when you welcome Baltimore to town, Baltimore really needs to get that game to to end things for you. And if not, then you look up. Instead of four and eight, you’re six and eight. Everyone’s tight together. You have the tiebreaker over the Baltimore Ravens and you have some winnable games on the schedule. And that’s it is this Bengals team. There’s no margin for error. I’m going to get into some playoff percentages in a second, but I I just there is a chance now. And I started to look at the New York Times playoff predictor and I started to look at different outlines. All right, well this should happen or this happens or if that happens and the division is the easiest path. I think we all agree there. Joe Bro and the Bengals, it’s not great, but there is a chance. And Joe Burrow knows that if there’s going to be a chance, they have to win out. Here’s what he said right before. This was on Tuesday, right before that Thursday night win in Baltimore on his mindset and and what the Bengals have to do down the stretch in late November. They handled business in November and now going into December. I think we just got to take it one game at a time. I think um yeah, like you said, we pretty much have to win every game at this point and the only way that you’re going to do that is by attacking each week and like you have to be one and0 that week and then move on to the next. We’ll dive into the different playoff scenarios, percentages, and much much more. Coming up next, this show is brought to you by Factor. Factor is a gamecher. Look, we’re all busy. Some different scenarios. First things first, if the Bengals beat the Bills next week, their 6% playoff chance, and that’s what they have right now, 6% playoff chance, uh, chance to make the playoffs according to the New York Times playoff simulator, goes up to 13%. There you go, just with a win. And that’s pretty big. That That’s pretty big. If you could get that win, you double your playoff chances, right? And then, and this is where it gets really juicy, if you win the following week against Baltimore, you go from 13 to 31%. You more than double your playoff chances and you feel really good about where you’re at. And and that’s the beauty of this is the next couple of weeks, if you handle business against these teams, well, then it goes up and up and up as you win. Of course, uh the following week, I believe that’s Miami, uh it would go up from 31% to to 46 47% in that range. Uh depending on what else happens. The point is is the Bengals, they have to win and if they win, they’re going to be in the mix and it’s going to feel eerily similar to last year, but it’s pretty doable and there’s not like 18 things that need to happen. The Ravens just need to end up with eight losses and the Steelers need need to lose a few of these games down the stretch and they certainly look beatable and Aaron Rogers is beat up in more ways than one and that offense just isn’t moving the ball and we’ll see. But it never really felt like they were in sync as a team against the Bills and they were at home. the Bills don’t have a good defense and the the Bills manhandled them and so the Steelers certainly seem vulnerable right now and uh look it this is always twofolded. It was last year too. You’re like all right well there’s a chance all of these things need to happen. and you need to get some help along the way. And then on the other side, I’m like, man, if you had just handled business earlier in the season, if you had just let Joe Burrow play against the Patriots, that’s why I was so hellbent on playing Joe is I knew physically he was ready to go. If you’re going to be able to play on a Thursday, you can play on a Sunday. There’s so many people that that were like, “Oh, well, they’re worried about how the toe would recover and all of those things.” I actually don’t think it was that. I just I I think that the the short week and the the fear of it was a factor there. But man, could you imagine if they had just beat the Patriots? Even after what happened with the Jets and what happened against the Bears, if you just beat the Patriots, you look at it, you’re like, well, they’d be right there, right in it. And they still are. They still are technically in it. They’re clinging to their chances. So, James, what happens if the Bengals went out? Well, if the Bengals win out and I don’t simulate anything else, 81% chance of making the playoffs. 81% chance. So, this Bengals team has a real chance if they handle their business. Got to handle their business. If they handle their business, a lot of the simulations, thousands and thousands of simulations, they make the playoffs 81% of the time. It’s going to be tough in Buffalo. James Cook was cooking. Obviously, we know what Josh Allen can do. We’ll see. plenty of time to dive into that. But hopefully you had a happy Thanksgiving. Hopefully it’s been a great weekend. We tried to give you a few days. Obviously, we were around if there was news. There wasn’t news, so we weren’t going to bug you. We’re back. We’re ready to go. Thanks for the great content. Could the Bengals win the division with an 8-9 record if they lmgo 4-1, and has it ever happened in the past?
they have a chance to win the division, but they have no chance of getting a wild card. Bengals are coming together while the Ravens and Steelers are falling apart.
the really sad part is they really needed to have just two wins from a bad jets or descent bears team. Sure there is a chance but now there is zero margin of error and you have to win every game and get help from the steelers or ravens which are both pathetic teams. this was our year and zac taylor just can't do anything without joe burrow who really is the head coach in my opinion. So excuse me if I still watch the games but have low expectations that they probably will not make the playoffs.
Wish the defense was playing better earlier. We would be better off, but with 9, we always have a chance.
Gotta beat buffalo
I have faith Joe and The Bengals can win be positive
Who Dey
Where is Trey Hendrickson
Same dance different song. The Bengals were here last season, we needed help after they did all they could do. They won't get help.
There definitely is a chance, although it being a slim chance. It's very difficult to look forward knowing had they beat the Jets, Bears, or the Steelers for the 2nd time. I was mad at the Jets and Bears, but I was more mad against the Steelers, because the importance of that game after the 2 bad losses. They looked unprepared after a bye, at home……..then they had opportunities against the Patriots and failed. IDK……Hopefully, they win out
Ravens are not beating both the Pats and the Packers, they’re dropping at least one of those and might split with Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh will lose to Detroit so if we do exactly what we did last year we’re in, I’m only buying in if we make it out these next 2 weeks with W’s
The false hope is fools gold. This team ain’t good enough to run the table. It’s always we’ll get em next year with this organization.
The Ravens and Steelers play each other twice. Thats 2 of the losses we need. We play the Ravens once, so there's 3. Given the Ravens can't get all 3 or it doesn't help.
Both have tough games left.
If the Bengals win out, I find it hard to believe they won't make it. Which is insane to say.
I didn't think there was a chance until I looked at the schedule.
Knowing the steelers and Ravens play each other twice, someone has to lose.
I think compared to this time last year, our odds of making the playoffs if we win out are much better, but the likelihood of winning out is worse. If we can take care of Buffalo and Baltimore we've got several very realistic paths. There are even some fairly realistic paths if we finish 8-9.
Can we stop? They're not making the playoffs
That bears game is so brutal
Whoo dey 🐅
Don't get carried away
We have only won 1 game
At moment more hope than reality.
Not with our defence, 1 game does not convince me. If we win next 2 games, then I agree we have a chance
Where is Trey he's cashing big checks and sitting on his ass next to our other worthless rookie pass rusher we shouldn't have drafted
I used to respect Trey now I can't wait for him to move on
Why every season we to go through this Jak Zac thing??
Need tee and trey back asap, and ready to ball out
The key is going to be the run game. Run the ball over 30 times a game and they'll keep winning. 33 times Thursday, the most they've run the ball all season. If they keep winning and get a little help, who knows. Get hot right now. The young guys looked like they're coming together. Get a few turnovers and here we go.
What are we talking about here?! We have 1 more win than the CARDINALS AND JETS. Y’all really think that all of the problems holding this team back went away in the last two weeks for some reason. We played one decent game on defense. JUST ONE.
I think if he would have been sore on the short week and maybe not as played as well in Baltimore.
Those jets, bears, and patriot losses are even more painful now. So frustrating.
It's not OK that we have only 6% chance right now. It's not on that we missed the playoffs 2 years in a row.
We can still make it. Didn't we win 10 in a row at the end of the season a couple of years ago? And 5 last year. So we can do it. But this current regime of non-players makes the wrong decision every time. They all need to go. They are all incompetent from Zac up to nepobaby Brown and nepograndbaby Blackburn.
It's crazy the way this season has gone, the way we've talked shit about this team all year, that they're still alive. So glad we still have hope and games to look forward to for now.
Steelers are done, it's going to be Baltimore or Cincinnati
Yes they do have a chance at the wildcard because if they beat buffalo this week they have a 31 percent chance of making the playoffs so yes they do have a chance to make the playoffs
Yes there is hope..the only time to start micro analyzing it is AFTER our Ravens game.
So if the Bengals are re-born and are for real. The got to go to Buffalo & beat a team that is playoff caliber
Crazy Steelers ravens all want to clean house. Bengals family like we still have a shot. If they was better when jb was out we would be gliding into the playoffs . Smh
Playoffs or not, I'd say they should cut ties with Zac Taylor this off season. This has become the identity of the bengals each and every season, playing from behind and trying to sneak into the playoffs. Insanity is doing something over and over again expecting a different outcome
I'm tired of us having to rely on other teams
Not happening
If only they won the bears and jets games…..
Rising from the ashes like the phoenix. Who Dey!
If you look bsck at afc championship we win trey just sits on bench didnt celebrate with the guys i haven't liked him since
The defense will shit the bed! It’s inevitable.
We need some Eli Manning magic lol.
Oh please! The Kicker and Defense won that game. Burrow 12 pts. Flacco scored more points than that. If the defense was there when Flacco was playing they would have won all their games. I like Flacco he’s fun to watch.
If the Bengals win their last 5 games and the ravens and Steelers lose 2 each, we should be in. The Bengals have a better division record than the Steelers and ravens.
They will screw it up…stop it already
