REPORT: Mets To SIGN Kyle Schwarber? | New York Mets | Mets Hot Stove | Mets News | MLB Free Agency

What’s up me fans? Welcome back to the channel as we got some reports here that the New York Mets are in the mix for DH Kyle Schwarber as that news has recently come out and it is a confirmed report by Jeff Passen himself that the Mets are in the mix and one of the favorites to sign Kyle Schwabber and this is something that you haven’t heard much of at all. It’s more been about Alonszo. It’s been more on the outfield side. It’s been more on the possibility of pitching. But with the Mets for years not having a true DH, Kyle Schwabber would solve that issue right away. But what you do have to wonder if the Mets sign Kyle Schwarber, is that a direct correlation to not signing Pete Alonzo? Obviously, you fix the power situation as Schwarber did hit many more home runs than Peter Lonzo. So, the power would be supplemented by the Kyle Schwarber signing. And this probably means that Peter Lonzo would not be coming back only because it seems more likely that they would go the Okamoto route. They would go somewhere else in more of a defensive first baseman rather than worrying about Peter Lonzo’s power. and going elsewhere defensively in another position. So with Kyle Schwabber and the Mets being in the mix and being one of the favorites to land Kyle Schwarber, it does seem like the team like the Red Sox who was also in on Kyle Schwarber and is also in on Peter Lonzo will get either one of these guys. I think the fact that the Red Sox are in are going to be in on Brigman, in on Alonzo, in on Schwarber, they’re going to get one of those guys. And I think the Mets when it comes to Alonzo and Schwarber, it’s going to be one of those guys. So, as good as Kyle Schwarber is offensively, we know he doesn’t play the field. So, do you consider that a whole or is that something that hey, we can really have a potent lineup with Kyle Schwarber, with Juan Sto, with Francisco Lindor. That would be the best way to go about it. You clearly fix the power situation if you don’t bring back Pete and Alonzo. And for all the meth fans that’s saying how you gonna fix that production from Pete Alonzo or get that production back. Well, Kyle Schwarber does that. And you might not have to go five or six years with say Pete Alonzo that it seems like that’s what Pete Alonzo would be getting. Kyle Shor I think he was probably going to get a three, fouryear deal. And I think the Mets, when you consider that Kyle Schwarber has gotten better and he’s just a monster, he’s a a walk machine. He’s a powerhouse type of hitter. That is something the Mets really do need. And it’s just a matter of if you get Schwabber, Peter Lonzo is probably out. Now, that probably doesn’t sit well with a lot of Mets fans, but it is what it is. You got to make sure you do what you need to do to get better. And if it means I don’t want to give five or six years to Allonzo, but I’m willing to give three or four to Kyle Schwarber, I’m okay with that. Now, I still believe that Pete Alonzo ultimately is going to be a Met. But it would be crazy if Kyle Schwarber is the one guy and Peter Lonzo is another guy the Mets get. This is an opportunity for the Mets here to really have a potent one through four, one through five. And that is something that you can really look at and, you know, write in that lineup every day and be like, “Wow, this is a dangerous lineup.” This is what the Mets have been lacking. Let’s be honest about that. If it’s not Lindor, if it’s not Petonzo, if it wasn’t Juan Sto, nothing else seemed to happen in that lineup. Kyle Schwarber is a guy. He’s a run producer. And yes, Pete Allonzo is a run producer as well. But Kyle Schwber had a hell of a lot more power than Pete Allonzo this year. And that is something that you have to think about considering the fact that you might be able to save two years on the Schwarber contract instead of Peter Alonzo and you’re probably gonna get more home runs. Now, obviously the downfall is is that he doesn’t play defense. He can play a little left field, but you’re probably going to try to avoid that at all cost. So, he would be your primary DH. But, you know what? I am sick and tired of platooning DH. give me a legitimate DH, you know, with Ryan Clifford being a possibility, possibly Mark Vientos if he’s around being a first baseman. There’s a lot of options there. If you go the Kyle Schwabber route as the DH where you can fit into the first base situation, you can go get Okamoto. That is another guy that we know that the Mets are have on their radar as well. It all depends. What do the Mets do first? I don’t think Allonzo sign it anytime soon. You can’t let these guys slip away. You can’t let Schwarber slip away. Okamoto, you cannot let guys that can fill those holes. And now Scott Boris has you over the barrel saying, “Well, if you don’t get Alonzo, who are you going to get? These guys are gone.” That is something that the Mets cannot do. What David Sterns can’t do is allow the market have the the market dictate what they’re going to do. You got to be aggressive here. You can’t stand around and let the market develop and then you know you don’t got nothing at the end of the day. That is something that the Mets cannot do. That has been a fault of David Sterns for two years now. He’s done a terrible job reading the market and I think ultimately it hurt him in a couple of moves that he did not make. In the Kyle Schwarber sense, you got to make a decision here. Either you want them or you don’t. I don’t care if the Mets are in on everybody. Of course they are. They got a tremendous amount of money and they’re a big market club. You should be in on everybody, but you got to make a decision. I think the lack of decision making for David Sterns and decisiveness of David Sterns is why the Mets are in this current situation. You got to make a decision. Is it Swarber or is it Alonzo? I don’t think it will be both. It would be great if it is, but I don’t think it’s going to be both. If Kyle Schwarber is start is starting to heat up, you gotta go and get the guy you want. If Schwarber is a guy you can try to get on three years, maybe four, and you think that’s the better route to go, you know, the offense will be there, then go get him. Stop playing this game. You don’t have to play this merrygoround with Peter Lonzo. If you want Peter Lonzo, don’t bother with Kyle Schwarber. Sign Peter Alonzo. The indecisiveness of Davis Sterns is a problem and it needs to change. This off season needs to change his indecisiveness. He needs to be more decisive and make that decision rather than the market making it for him. When the market makes it for you, you put yourself behind the eight-ball and that is where the Mets get in trouble. That is where David Sterns gets into trouble. So, with the Mets being in the mix and one of the favorites to land Kyle Schwarber, the decision has to be made. If Kyle Schwarber is the guy you want and you trust that offense over the next couple of seasons, do you do that move or you let him go by the wayside and now you have to fight for Peter Lonzo? Now that a decision that Sterns has to make, but you clearly pick up the offense that you would lose from Peter Lonzo with Kyle Schwarber. And now the Mets have many options for a first base. You got Okamoto, you got Cody Bellinger. There’s a lot of options there that you could go, but are the Mets going to be decisive? Are they going to make the move, the aggressive move that they seem to lack, especially in the David Sterns era? That is where things have to change. And I do wonder if you’re going to go after Schwabber, go get him. Don’t waste time. Don’t let another team swoop in and take him from you. And don’t let other guys get off the board. And now you you you have you’re holding the bag now with just one guy on the market to fit that spot, that position that you need. And now you are going to get probably bent over a barrel and probably have to overpay where you didn’t have to when there was other guys on the market. So let me know in the comments, guys, what you think about the possibility of Kyle Schwarber in this New York Mets lineup with Lindor with Sodto. that is something that you would really like to see or you still want Peter Lonzo. Let me know in the comments, guys, what you think. For me, go get the guy you actually want. If it’s Peter Lonzo or Kyle Schwarber, get it done. I want to thank you guys for watching and as always, my fans, let’s go Mets.

  1. Give me Pete over Schwarber.

    1. Similar offensive production, but Pete strikes out less and better in the clutch.
    2. Best right-handed bat to protect Soto.
    3. Pete can also play 1B, Schwarber only a DH.
    4. Stick Pete at DH and get Oโ€™Hearn for 1B
    5. Pete is a homegrown Met.
