It’s good to see he’s having such a good year. Hopefully he can keep it up
Here before the painfully unoriginal and unfunny jokes about how he needs another 6 years in GR to earn a backup spot in the NHL.

Don’t call him up let the griffins win the calder
I’m betting he gets a look with the Wings right after the new year if Gibson isn’t able to show improvement. Cossa’s performance has to be starting to weigh on Gibson as a legitimate threat.
Saw him last night, good goalie and stands 6’7. I told my wife afterwards I expect to see him in Detroit one day.

I’ll admit, I was one of those people who was saying we need to let him cook in the Grand Rapids, but I’m changing my mind on this. He’s been so freaking good this year, plus he already had a really solid season last year. Call him up, let him play a few games. If he plays well, fantastic. Keep him up. If he struggles, fine, just send him back down and I’m sure he’ll rebound.
If Cossa or Augustine can eventually be our Cade Cunningham or Tarik Skubal it will completely transform our team imo and then all of the other pieces will hopefully fall into place.
Ben Wallace was also able to do the same thing for the Pistons.
When Wallace was traded to the Pistons in 2000 they won 32 games his first year. The next season they won 50 games, finished 1st place in their division and this occurred before the Pistons had even acquired Richard Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, Rasheed Wallace and drafted Tayshaun Prince.
Get another top 4 defenseman, punt Hamonic out of town, and call this kid up. Dump gibbby if he plays well.
DO NOT pull him up now and let him get shredded behind this frankly shit defense.
I’m just saying, when he and Augustine hit Detroit in EHM the team becomes a powerhouse.
I’m hoping we see him sometime this Spring in the NHL. Get him a few games and then back to GRG for their playoffs.

Can’t wait for him to come up in 2030!
6′ 7″ or larger goalies in the nhl ever and their first year where they played in 40 games in a single season:
Ben Bishop: 6′ 7″ played in 63 NHL games 2013-2014 when he ended the season 27 years old.
Mikko Koskinen 6′ 7″ played 55 NHL games 2018-2019 when he was 30 years old.
That’s the list.
Only 1 guy at 6’6″ also makes the list. Markstrom. He did it at age 27. Stolarz is also 6′ 6″ but has bever played 40 games in a single season in the NHL.
A few guys at 6′ 5″ also did it. Darcy Kuemper when he was 27, pekka rinne when he was 26, and Jake oettinger when he was only 23.
So Jake oettinger guy within 2″ tall of cossa to ever play 40 NHL games+ in a season before he was 26 years old.
I only bring it up to manage expectations for cossa. If he came up and played 40 games in a season, say.. next season, he woild have done it YEARS earlier than every other goalie near his height not named Jake Oettinger.
He could still make it happen.. but if he can’t yet and it doesnt happen in the next 2-3 years.. thats still normal for even the elite NHL goalies his height.
