The moment Herbie got hurt, I flopped into my couch and stared into my phone. But, you got me hyped for some mediocre football.
Bolt fam, this isn’t Chase Daniels, Easton Stick, and Taylor Heinecke.
I’ve never been so excited for a dude to throw 1 completion for 9 yards. He scrambled for 4 yards. He handed off the ball well. He looked calm.
Any other guy, that second drive is a 4 and out. Trey kept the drive alive. Into the red zone. And sure, Herbert threw an INT.
But we got there off Trey’s mid-level play that let us treadwater and catch our breath.
Way to be a decent QB2! Hope you don’t start next week.⚡️⚡️⚡️

He did what needs to be done, he kept the offense rolling and looked cool, calm and confident doing it. He’s as good a backup as anyone could hope to have.
I was kind of mad that they put Herbert back in. Him trying to hand a ball off one handed looked ridiculous, and he was getting hit way too much. Lance isn’t so terrible that we need to be risking the rest of Herbert’s season like that.
Not all well and good. He did fumble a snap that was recovered by the defense. But got bailed out by a much welcomed false start
Harbaugh and Roman need to start using him for short yardage plays, especially if Herbert is having trouble going under center.
Trey Lance could be a starter on a third of NFL teams. We’re lucky to have him as QB2 in cases of something like this.
Trey needs an opportunity in a real game that matters and he stands to get paid big $$ playing for another team next year. There are tons of teams around the league hurting for QBs, and even those about to nab a rookie in the draft will gladly double his salary of $2 mil for this season.
I have high hopes for Lance. Watching Chase Daniel’s and Easton Stick had me slouching on the couch. Complete opposite feeling seeing Lance out there.
Have a feeling Trey is going to be like Geno.
Have him 1 season goes somewhere else and get starter snaps.

Lance could have kept it rolling.
Even if the opposing defense knows when Lance is in it’s a run, we need to swap him for Herbert during those plays. It could open up offense for trick plays.
Who knew a single completed pass would be such a huge upgrade over cash daniels.
He fumbled the snap, put the ball on the ground, and had to be bailed out by a false start flag. I like having him as the backup too, but there was a reason he got pulled once it was third down and Herbert was there.
Having a QB2 that could legit start for other teams is amazing
Tre Lance almost certainly could beat the raiders. We have one of the best backup QBs in the league.

seriously. this is what i had hoped Heinecke would be!! so many other teams aren’t an auto lose when their backup comes in. glad we aren’t either!
This guy is a former #3 pick who has had bad luck. I think he’s hungry as hell to prove himself. He’s the perfect backup to have. I actually feel decent about the chargers’ chances if, god forbid, he has to start some games.
Remember when Colin Kaepernick took the 49ers to a superbowl with Harbaugh as HC? Imagine the rushing attack with Hampton, Vidal, and this Lance as QB! The offensive line looks like it just might be serviceable enough to get things done.
So, when a starting QBs injury spells certain doom for a season, there are always players like Kaepernick or Foles who can come out and carry a team.
Lance obviously isn’t either of those two players, and he has had his own set of issues, but maybe being in the nfl for a few years now has equipped him with enough experience to make a name for himself, should the opportunity present itself.
Obviously, we all hope Herbert can come out and ball like he has been, but it’s good to know that there is still hope either way.
I kinda hope we do the the Taysom Hill with him while Herbert gets that finger fixed and put him in for qb runs, draws, tush pushes, etc, so Herbert doesn’t have to risk it in certain circumstances and he can be primarily at pistol and shotgun. Maybe even draw up some crazy plays with both of them on the field.
They should have used him for the Bolt rush aka tush push
I wish he played a half. I would have liked to see him get more experience with the offense.
I might be delusional but if Herbert can’t go next week I do think we have a real shot with Trey at the helm and a week of game planning.
After watching Lance perform in the pre season I got excited for him to be our QB2. Call me crazy but I believe Lance will be ready if his number ever gets called. 🙌🏽
