They kinda make it sound like an either/or with Benn/Jarace there, but Zubac makes 18/19/21 over the next three years. Gonna be real hard to make that work without including Benn unless we ship someone else out.
Don’t love it for the spacing side of things, but I otherwise don’t hate it.
He’s a double double machine, a good rim protector, and Siakam can shoot from outside better than ever
I don’t think it happens but I don’t hate it
Just imagining if we had Zubac instead of Myles for that playoffs run last year. We’d have a chip now.
Bring me Zu!!!
He is a spacing disaster and really clogs up driving and passing lanes that we heavily rely on in our system to initiate and keep a flowing rhythm of ball and player movement. He also doesn’t have a mid-range game in the slightest. He’s also very slow in getting back and forth on both ends which doesn’t work with a team that tries to speed up the pace of the game often.
I also think think he’s an insanely overrated rim protector because how teams neutralize him. I honestly think he’s an overrated defender just in general. He’s not even ranking in the top 30 at the center position in terms of defensive rating this year. Teams with athletic centers, who can put the ball on the floor or can shoot from outside continuously pull him out on an island and if he doesn’t come out they use it to create mismatches all over the place on switches.
The man is an absolute beast down low in the post and an absolute rebounding machine and does in fact make our team better essentially by default, but he doesn’t fit this team and what it does and what has made it successful the last two playoff runs – when we are healthy. Like not at all.
He’d be a dream player target a decade ago, but today’s NBA has really evolved past his archetype. If he at least had a great mid-range game, it might be a different debate, but he doesn’t, so it’s just not.
Zubacs fucking kills us every time we play him lol. It’s worth it just so we don’t have to play him anymore 💀
Eh.
Fit problem but here’s the real issue…… he’s probably gunna be the best available
He’d be an awesome curve ball for us. Run Obi/Huff as the stretch to keep our pace and when teams want to slow us down bring in Zubac. Money is my only concern for a guy that’s probably not play more than 20ish minutes a game
If we had Zu/Huff/Bryant I think we’d win, Bryant and Huff would combine their powers to match Turners abilities.
I’d love to see Zubac on the Pacers but LAC doesn’t have a ton of incentive to blow it up since they don’t have their own picks/their picks are swapped out until 2030. I guess maybe it’d happen in a 3-way deal where they get some draft control back.
