I mean this post was kind of ridiculous. He played a conservative game, and comparing him to Brosmer is actually massive cope.
But overall, how we feeling about Darnold? I think he’s had 1 rough game (rams) and 1 strange game (vikings) but it feels that was more of an O-line issue than anything else. How do we as a fanbase still feel?

Largely conjecture but I can’t help but feel as though we knew we’d steamroll them and kept the playbook closed so as to not put too much on film. We pounded the rock mostly.
I feel fine with him. Vikings defense played hard and honestly our offense got to be as vanilla as they come because the vikings couldn’t move the ball on offense.
Fine, we did not protect him. No one was open, which made the air game difficult. We corrected that in the second half and he looked better. Also, he did not panic and took what they gave him, including sacks. Did anyone notice how Sam induced 3 defensive off sides after the half?? Wonder if they realized how they were timing it and disrupted it with a hard count???
“Unless he wins the conference championship”, he’s a bust?
This makes 30 QB’s in the league a bust, right?
“Other than the 4 interceptions” is hilarious.
Darnold has been light years better than that QB room this season. He’s far from perfect and struggles against the blitz and has made some pretty bad forces this season but overall he’s a successful starting QB in this league. Viking fans just need to cope and I don’t blame them.
Darnold is fine if he can get the protection he needs.
honestly man just let Vikings fans cope lmao. Obviously Darnold is better and the Vikings should have kept him, but Viking fans aren’t going to admit it. Just let them be
It’s just cope from a salty fan. If Darnold played lights out like he has at points in this season, that same fan would probably have a post complaining about letting him walk. He’s obviously not the best QB in the league, but he was the 2nd overall pick for a reason, and if you give him enough to work with, he can find a way to win.
Being clutch is a skill not many QB’s have and it’s pretty easy to have faith in him learning from his mistakes. Even with his awful game against the Rams, he still put us in position to have won that game.
I happen to have been digging into some of the Seahawks passing game splits.
For weeks 1-10 by EPA/play the Seahawks had the best passing offense in the league. For weeks 11-13 it’s the 22nd ranked. Even if you remove the Rams game and only look at the previous two weeks, it’s the 17th ranked.
EPA is a per-play stat so while it’s a small sample size in terms of games, in terms of snaps it’s not nothing. It seems pretty obvious that the passing game has been dramatically less effective over the previous three games; the question is whether or not Kubiak and Darnold can get it back on track. I don’t think “best in the NFL” was ever a pace they could maintain long-term, but they probably do need to get it back to a top-ten unit.
Copium. There is no Brinks truck… he’s paid like the 15th best QB in the league (technically his cap hit is the 17th highest). He’s certainly outperformed that… by a wide margin.
Vikings made a terrible judgement call on JJ and it may cost them their contending window with an all-time great young WR.
Darnold has his warts but for what he is making, he’s a good deal, well liked, and fits our culture. Let’s see how he does in the big games, but he’s proven enough to me that he’s worth keeping unless a better option presents itself at draft or otherwise.
Currently the highest on Darnold I’ve ever been. No concerns here – last game idk that anyone would succeeded better than him with how fast the pressure was getting through. Maybe a scramble heavy QB woulda been OK, but at least he didn’t turn the pressure into interceptions. The Rams game was rough, but everyone has an off day now and then. Purdy threw 3 picks in one half the other week and they’re not having this discussion
It’s cope to the highest extent
They’re ODing on copium?
Idk man all I know is that we are 9-3 and they are 4-8. I get that it’s not entirely Sam Darnold carrying our team but he was a pretty big factor this year.
Brian Flores is a very good DC and he tried as hard as he could to blitz and blitz Darnold bc that’s his biggest weakness as a QB.
That being said, Darnold is light years ahead of whatever the fuck the Vikings are doing for QB this year and we should be fine as long as he doesn’t do what he did vs. the Rams again
Darnold is a great qb and Vikings fans are super annoying. Before the “we didn’t want Darnold anyway” hand wringing it was bountygate (that Farve said the Vikings and most of the NFL also did) which was also annoying. It must just be terrible to be a Vikings fan.
Personally, I’d rather he take sacks than throw interceptions. The sack-fumble was rough but can’t put all the blame on Darnold for that.
He is the 18th highest paid QB, putting him in the lower half of the league (32 teams). I mean it’s a brinks truck of cash, but a small one.
So Vikings fans are saying they didn’t want a bang middle of the grid QB pay wise, who with this exact same team (+/- draft, losses of people, FA signings) took them to an above average season? With above average stats? Giant amounts of Copium are being consumed. Your team gambled on someone else, the gamble lost, and now trying to justify the shitty situation.
The Vikings fans are in super cope mode. Any comment of mine about Darnold is getting a barrage of replies about how Darnold is going to “choke” in the playoffs and that theyre happy they took the JJM route lol. They are adamant they arent coping but dozens of comments coping say otherwise. Lmao
Understandable. Denial is a form of coping.
It’s ok, Feisty-Noise. You will heal at some point.
“Darnold didn’t look much better.”
They’re looking at a UDFA who pissed down his leg and threw more passes to the Seahawk defense than to a top 5 receiver in the league, and got shut out, or waiting for “9” to get healthy and magically become a great QB, neither of those things are happening.
All of this while the Bears could the 1 seed, the lions are out there and the Packers have their QB.
Minnesota is right now playing for the privilege of trading a first for someone like Mac Jones, going through the scrap heap for a reclamation project, reliving nostalgia bringing back Kirk Cousins or, because it’s in play if they make top 5, picking another QB.
Cope of the year.
Charge your phone
Sam Darnold struggles with pressure, but Mike has suggested Sam is still capable of learning what not to do, like throwing across the middle of the field while panicking.
Also the Seahawks specifically and legitimately bolstered their offensive line for the first time in a decade because they knew Darnold was coming.
The Seahawks never did it for Geno because he somehow was able to play under constant pressure (something Geno is struggling at this year with the Raiders, which is somewhat out of character).
INFINITELY BETTER THEN GENO.
IDGAF if we go one and done I have hope and have fun watching week to week and thats good enough for me.
I feel the same way about Sam as I feel about your phone battery. It makes me nervous but I have no impact on it.
I think the quoted piece is missing one KEY note: Darnold won.
I dont give a fuck how we do it, if we win and Sammy Dimes didnt tank the effort, then he did exactly what we hired him for. Not everyone is gonna put up 450 yds a game, and that’s not the mark of a professional QB.
Tossing aside the difference between 0 turnovers and 4 is fucking CRAZY work.
I thought he played fine vs a good defense. We had a good conservative gameplan that played to our strengths
Huffing that copium in Minnesota I see
We lost to the Rams by two points, a team that has been unstoppable this season and yet we’re tied with them in the standings, 9-3 with Rams having an edge because of the loss. The Vikings had Sam as their Quarterback last year and they should have been able to exploit that to get an upper hand and they went scoreless.
There’s been a few rough games over this season, but our worst loss was by four points to the 49ers, three to the Buccaneers and two against the Rams.
I wish people would get off his nuts and let the man play.
Darnold is good enough for the Vikings to be 14-3 last season and good enough to be 9-3 for the Seahawks.
Vikings are now 4-8 without Darnold..
Enough said.
Vikings fans follow Darnold like he’s still on their team for the sole purpose of looking for copium
Viks went all in on the blitz packages, so to counter, we went to run and screen game. This was the proper way to slow down their pass rush. Being able to win without Darnold or JSN lighting it up is a good thing.
This is so funny. What a delusional take. His qbs are terrible and he has the audacity to say anything about Darnold lol. Vikings front office making bad decisions.
I took a peek in there for morbid curiosity sake today and I could not BELIEVE the amount of cope they had about “well at least we still don’t have Sam Darnold” like it was straight up mass hysteria
It is so absurd reading takes from people who only watch the broad cast, or highlights, or maybe didn’t even see anything aside from EJ’s Int. I feel like if you didn’t watch the all 22 or weren’t at the game. This guy is completely clueless about what actually happened at the game.
Sam played great. He wasn’t asked to do much because our whole game plan was short. Running was like 80% of the play calls and short throw were the rest. We weren’t sending anyone deep, we didn’t try to throw the ball further than 10 yards all afternoon. They wanted to win the game on the line. The coaching staff was 100% focused on line play both on O and D. If you watch the all22 it was vanilla AF, 1v1 win your match up, don’t let a guy past or get through your guy as fast as possible. It was a clinic on conservative coaching asking guys to do their most basic job.
