It’s not Barkley. It’s not the O-line. It’s not the players.

For opposing defenses, playing the Eagles / Patullo is like:
– Taking a test while having a copy of the answers
– Playing cards while seeing the other players’ hands
– Playing Starcraft with a maphack
– Playing hide-and-seek while your opponent wears a neon sign
I really think Ben Van Summeren getting hurt broke their brains and they never got back on track
Every player/position on our offense, with the exception of Devonta and maybe Dotson, has regressed this year, including Barkley and all 5 spots on the oline.
The coaching isn’t helping but far from the only problem.
Just here to say once again “malpractice” is now the new most inappropriately overused phrase on the internet, overtaking former Reddit darling “masterpiece”
Why doesn’t Latu get more plays. I believe he’s the best run blocker
This actually reminds me of the 2023 playoff game where we had no answer to the blitz. If their Eagles went empty, TB would blitz. They went empty 10 times. Like at some point just stop going empty.
Do the Eagles know they don’t have to play Calcaterra? They don’t have to do a 2 TE set? I love that at some point they did realize that he can’t block and started using Fred Johnson as a 6th OL (and then never pass out of that formation of course), but when Lane got hurt they went back to Calcaterra. He played 34 snaps against the Lions I think and “blocked” on 30 of them.
Coaching is a problem, but the players are still out there playing expected to make plays. It’s not totally in a vacuum and there have been opportunities to make plays. These guys just haven’t executed well enough and have played poorly.
If you come out with a gameplan and a scheme that the defense predicts correctly or is prepared for, it is what it is, that’s football. But to make no meaningful adjustments as the games goes on, even after seeing how the gameplan failed early…that’s a condemnation of your ability to call plays. The issue isn’t that defenses are shutting down his plays early, it’s that KP refuses to adjust, showing his complete incompetence.
At least Calcaterra makes up for his poor run blocking with his amazing receiving stats
Yes, it’s Barkley, yes it’s the Oline, and yes, it’s the players. It’s not just play calling .
Watching all the motion the Bears did on their runs was painful, was like oh yeah, you can do that. It was nice when we did it last year
Technically that still is the OL…
It’s definitely the players, we play with no seriousness on offense. Our players look lackadaisical
I mean, complaints that Calc can’t block is at least a little bit the players
I would imagine that Jack Stoll, an excellent blocking TE with experience in this system, would have been available for a 7th round pick before the season or before the deadline.
You know that I know that they know what they dont know will be a run play with calcaterra on the field
The usage of Calcaterra and Bigsby on this offense have stuck out to me more than a lot of other issues because they’re fairly objective things. Calc sucks at blocking yet they keep giving him snaps; and Bigsby has looked great and his snaps go down every single game. This offensive coaching staff is completely inept in every way, shape and form
We know it’s a little of everyone. But Patullo one of the biggest portions of the problem and the most quickly resolved. If he was fired and his replacement was even a smidge better, a lot of the other problems could work themselves out or at least be compensated for with competent game play.
Didn’t they use Johnny Wilson as a TE for a lot of runs last year?
12 personnel has been so bad this year.
We got discount Zach Ertz out here
All the things you say it isn’t… It is.
It’s also predictable. This is simply latest stat or tell. They should’ve figured this shit out, self scouting or looking at tendencies. We all have the info, surely they do too.
This is exactly the problem. Execution and players are having issues, we know that. Our run blocking isn’t very good, and Hurts has had some bad games and our receivers aren’t getting a lot of separation.
However, Patullo (should) know all of this and adapt. Instead, what does he do? He constantly runs HB dives into a defensive line that knows what’s coming. The ball constantly gets snapped at 1 second. Both of these things make a struggling unit’s job even harder.
Same with our receivers and QB. Watch the Rams or even the Bears against us. Their receivers are getting wide open looks because of the scheme and route concepts. Patullo isn’t adjusting, which is allowing the defense to key in on routes, which again, makes things harder on the receivers.
So yeah, the players need to execute better, but Patullo is actively not helping them by being predictable and taking no accountability.
More than one thing can be true at the same time. It IS Barkley, it IS AJ, it IS Jalen, it IS the O-Line being banged up. And yes, it IS whasisname.
It’s a clusterfuck, is what it is.
O line is beat
We act like the opposing teams don’t have coaches or expect they’re as shitty as ours. We are getting outcoached d vs O and we’re severely lacking. This post is a really good example of coaching malpractice.
know what else is a disaster? jihaad campbell not playing a single defensive snap
