Those 2013 and 2016 seasons were really fantastic for Kippie at second. The 5 WAR season ruined me for what I want out of 2B. I know I’m I wrong to set my expectations for Bazanna to this benchmark, but when you spend the first overall on someone, you’re gonna get crazy comps. Whats your over/under for WAR for our 1.1? For me, anything below a 3 will be a disappointment. Viva Dirtbag.

  1. Jason Kipnis is actually a pretty solid comp for Bazzana’s floor, if Jason Kipnis also had Jim Thome’s plate discipline.

His ceiling really just comes down to how well he hits for average.

  2. I know you’re talking more offensive side of things, but Gimenez did put up 7.4, 5.0 and 4.0 WAR in his three full season. But yeah, haven’t had good offensive play from the keystone since Kipnis and before that Sandy’s brother

  3. Kip was a stud, but in the world of the shift, 2B was a bat-first position. With the shift banned, teams are frequently sacrificing some offense to get a solid glove. That’s why Toronto was willing to pay Gimenez to start 90 games at 2B and be one of the worst offensive players in baseball.

Also can’t shake the gut feeling that Bazzana is the post-Kwan LF come opening day 2027.

  4. What almost was and what could have been.

He missed that pitch by a fraction.

Already one of my most favorite players, he would have been a Cleveland legend.

    Miss ya, dirtbag.
