Angel Reese’s former teammate, Chennedy Carter’s future in the WNBA faced a harsh reality after the Chicago Sky refused to extend her a qualifying offer following the 2024 season. Despite her outstanding season in the league, Carter was not offered a contract by any team, and YouTuber N3ON said that he was the reason behind Carter’s crashed stock in the market.
In April earlier this year, Carter appeared on N3ON’s channel. They played a 1v1 game for 11 points. Although she beat the streamer 11-7, the first few minutes of the video showed a compilation of Carter missing her shots and N3ON making shots one after another.
In his latest stream, he admitted that his clippers deliberately made it look like he beat her in the game, which caused her stock to drop in the league.
“The clippers made it look like I beat her and I think it runied her stock and then she got dropped from WNBA,” N3On said.
“I am very sorry, genuinely,” he added.
He also added that he was taking the game very seriously and played his best basketball, too.
“I was hooping [and] she beat me but they made it look like I beat her.”
Chennedy Carter played one season with Angel Reese, when the latter was a rookie in 2024. The former teammates also built a great relationship on the court. However, despite Carter’s impressive season, the Sky didn’t give her a qualifying offer.
Carter played in the Chinese league, showing out big time earlier this year. She averaged over 30 points playing for the Shanghai Swordfish. However, she still didn’t get any signing offer from the WNBA teams. Angel Reese’s former teammate now plays for Adelitas de Chihuahua in the Mexican league.
Why is Angel Reese’s ex-teammate Chennedy Carter out of the WNBA?
Chennedy Carter and Angel Reese led the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA season. However, they failed to carry the Sky to the playoffs. Carter averaged a career-high 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.
While Carter was one of the top guards in the league, her 2024 season wasn’t without controversy. She made headlines for her beef with Caitlin Clark and fiery remarks about Clark’s game. Some believed that Carter being ball-dominating adversely impacted Sky’s offense.
Moreover, some fans believe that Carter wasn’t signed by any WNBA team because of her impact on the locker room. In 2021, the Atlanta Dream suspended Carter for her “conduct detrimental to the team.”
