The Most CURSED City In Sports?! 😳 #mls #mlscup #sandiegofc #sandiego #padres #chargers

the most cursed city in sports and yet I like some of their former teams. So San Diego FC’s incredible innocuinal MLS season came to an end this past weekend as they fell to the Vancouver White Caps 3-1. And while the club should be proud of what they accomplished this season, I can’t help but think about the curse of the Murf. Murf was the longtime nickname of a stadium in San Diego that was home to both the San Diego Chargers and Padres’s at one point and actually happens to be where Snapdragon Stadium, the home of San Diego FC, is now. What makes it cursed? It’s the fact that San Diego teams, the majority having played at the Murf, have never won a major title across the NFL, MLB, NBA, MLS, and NWSL. Despite being close many times, even though the city has lost a couple of its teams to LA, curse has followed them. As both an LA Clippers and Chargers fan, I know firsthand that this curse is no joke. And as good as San Diego FC look this year, let’s hope they don’t fall off the way some other recent MLS expansion sites have.

  1. As a SDFC fan, the first kneejerk reaction to not just other MLS fanbases but some of our OWN fans saying it’s because of “the San Diego Sports Curse” and mostly looked at St Louis’ failure in Season 2 which they’re expecting the same for San Diego FC

Honestly the team has the structure (especially the youth) to be a contender, whether it turns into silverware remains to be seen but Atlanta United won in their 2nd Season and LAFC won the shield in their 2nd Season as well so it’s mostly optimism from here.
